Spent a weekend (3 nights) here in December 2025 as a solo traveller. Check-in staff were friendly and professional, and that was the only interaction I had with staff during my stay. My corner room overlooking the esplanade was very spacious. The views over the esplanade and across to the inlet were fantastic. The room has the look and feel of a somewhat dated Holiday Inn suite, but it was clean, all the appliances/switches worked, and most importantly the bed was comfortable. A couch would have been appreciated given the space available, instead of the two cane chairs which I barely used. It appears the bathroom was the only part that was recently refurbished. It was functional rather than stylish, but clean and bright. I appreciate that self service laundry facilities were available, even though I didn't use it. I can't comment on room service or the in-house restaurant. The location was truly excellent for my purposes, being very close to the Night Market, Rustys, Woolworths, and a 10 min walk to Cairns Central. All in all, I enjoyed my stay. But only one thing bothered me: the occasional loud noises from cars hooning past late at night on Spence Street. Obviously this isn't the hotel's fault. But if you're a light sleeper like me, it's something to consider. This issue is not something I faced while staying at nearby hotels, and I think it's because Spence Street is obviously popular with idiot hoons and their cars.
