This hostel is by far the best I’ve ever stayed at. The building and interior is beautiful. I love that the beds have curtains, which gives you privacy in the shared dorms. The cleanliness of the bathrooms are really good too. It’s a very social hostel, but still quiet and respectful. Everyday they have minimum 2 free activities, where you meet other travellers and easily make friends. Would highly recommend staying at Pacific House!! 10/10 🤩

1). A great location and neighborhoods 2). Room rates vary (booking via Booking.com). For my case: (i) AUD55/bunk-bed/08-bed room/night from Sept 22-26, 2025; and (ii) AUD72/bunk-bed/10-bed room/night from Sept 26-Oct 5, 2025. It is not worth paying AUD72/night for such a tight and stuffy room - the room is fully occupied by beds, luggages and personal belongings, uncomfortable smells. In addition, there are no power outlets (sockets) for the case of top bunk. It seems that there is no cleaning service in the room. 3). Noise and overcrowding can be an "ASSET" of this property. The noise comes from every corner and caused by different groups: (i) long-term guests (like a gang here) and (ii) the other group of people coming from same country/region. They took all public areas in the house, i.e., kitchen, front desks areas, living room, balcony, days and nights, for their own activities and making noise without care and respect of the other guests who are not part of the groups. They also gather in front of the house almost every night for smoking, drinking, talking, laughing, etc... I wonder about the house rules and security, and I trust that such inappropriate practices will damage all other good things and credit of the Pacific House in a very near future. 4). Alcohol and Social behaviors. Use of alcohol in the house and man-woman interaction in the public areas at night are an issue. 5). Part-time workers working for the house (cleaning the kitchen) are also the guests staying here. It seems that they do not have capability to do their work, except for one-two persons as per my observations.

Every hostel owner should do two things: 1) Mystery shop a stay in their own hostel to know what it's missing. 2) Stay at Pacific House to see what is possible. All the little touches add up. Soap dispensers in every shower; curtains around every bunk. Charger port and reading light at every bunk. Cafe attached on premises with discounts if you're staying there. Plus free events every day like walking tours, board games, wine and cheese night. The building is beautiful - larger central staircase. Heritage feel with modern amenities. The location is also great - a short walk to good tourist attractions like the gallery and botanical gardens, the CBD. But also in a quiet little tucked away spot that feels safe. The staff are great too. Couldn't recommend it enough.

Pacific House Hostel was my first home in Australia and the place where I found a family. I never felt alone here. On my very first day, it was actually Stephanie from the staff who made me feel welcome and at ease. The entire team is incredibly kind, friendly, and always available to help. The hostel is super clean, with rooms and bathrooms cleaned multiple times a day. There’s a large, cozy TV room with comfy sofas, plus other chill areas where you can relax or meet new people. Honestly, it feels more like a hotel than a hostel, even the entrance hall has sofas where you can relax or wait for your check-in in comfort. The rooms are spacious, with lockers and beds equipped with privacy curtains, which I really appreciated. Every day there are different activities organized by the staff that you can join, making it easy to socialise and have fun. Rating: 10/10. Highly recommended!

I’ve been here for a while now and honestly, I couldn’t have asked for a better place. From the very first day I felt welcomed and at ease. It truly feels like home, more like staying with friends than just being a guest in a hostel. The common areas are big and super cozy, perfect for chilling, chatting or meeting people from all over the world. Every morning there’s free breakfast, which always makes the start of the day nicer and brings people together around the table. Rooms are spacious and clean, and the bathrooms are always spotless. You can really feel that the staff cares about making this place as comfortable and welcoming as possible. Speaking of the staff, they’re amazing. So kind, friendly and always there to help or just have a nice chat. There’s a real sense of community and family here. You never feel alone because there’s always someone around to laugh with, talk to or explore the city together. With all the weekly activities the hostel organizes there’s always something fun happening. Whether you’re traveling solo or with friends, you’ll instantly feel part of something special. It’s not just a place to sleep. It’s a place to belong. Truly a home away from home. Highly recommended.

One of the best hostels I’ve stayed at. The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming, they made the whole experience feel personal. Everything was really clean, from the dorms to the bathrooms. Plus, they organize awesome events throughout the week, which makes it super easy to connect make friends. You can tell they’ve put real thought into creating a great atmosphere :)

The location is great and inside an old classical building with nice coffees around and walking distance to the botanical gardens, museums, cathedral and opera house. The staff is super kind and they have two free activities per day that you can subscribe and participate in. They work with an app that is very useful, easy to work with and brings a lot of freedom to your stay. Beds are comfortable with an individual light, curtains and an USB plug that helps to keep your privacy. The check out is at 10 am and the check in is strictly at 2 pm sharp and not one minute before, but you can use the facilities before. Pillows are to be improved. The shower cubicles are not many (3 per floor) and, depending on your schedule, you can face some traffic there.

Really nice hostel! Rooms are great (a bit tight with all the luggage, but it's still a hostel), as well as bathrooms but most importantly, it's really clean. Same for the kitchen area. And there's a laundry room, which is also a large advantage. I'd only say two things, first is that the rooms are lacking power outlets (especially if you're in top bunk). In my room there was only one outlet available, and the USB port worked but took forever, and I mean it, to charge any device. Second, it is a bit overcrowded and no one respects the no-noise rule after 11 p.m. People will just regroup downstairs near the reception, and if you're unlucky to stay on level 1, you'll hear all about it. Aside from that, it was really great, the location's good too and the hostel offer so many activities!
