We recently celebrated my husband’s birthday at Pacifica in Napier, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. Known for its innovative and fresh take on New Zealand cuisine, Pacifica delivered a tasting menu that was as exciting as it was delicious. The standout of the evening was the venison polenta. The dish was a perfect balance of flavors and textures. It was truly a work of art on the plate, with each bite leaving us wanting more. The creativity behind this dish really showcased the chef’s mastery of combining local ingredients with a modern twist. The hospitality at Pacifica was equally exceptional. The staff made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived, and their attention to detail ensured my husband’s birthday was truly special. They even brought out a little surprise for him to mark the occasion, which added a personal touch that made the night all the more memorable. From the inventive dishes to the warm and thoughtful service, Pacifica exceeded our expectations. If you’re in Napier and looking for a unique dining experience, the tasting menu at Pacifica is an absolute must-try. **Visited March 2024**

What a thoughtfully designed menu, we loved it. The flavours are delicate and intense at the same time, definitely worth savouring every bite.

Such an amazing evening, each dish was ‘wow’ delicious. Service was friendly and informative. We’ve done a few degustation style meals and this was in our top 3… completely divine, scrumptious flavours and we enjoyed each of the wine pairings that accompanied each dish. Thank you for a lovely and memorable evening! We’ll be back :)

Starting from the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is very cozy and intimate (only seats 25 people). The menu is changing every month, and we loved the fact you don't know what is on the menu until you are there, and even so what we expected as to what we got blew our minds. If you walk past restaurant, you may see the menu on door as to what they will be serving that month. If you see the creamed paua on menu then DO NOT MISS IT. I repeat, do not miss out on the creamed paua. It was a game changer to say the least. The flavors, textures, and ingredients are married together in perfect harmony across all dishes and the presentation is simply elegant. The cocktails we got were delicious also. If you're after somewhere special to eat and over "standard" restaurant food then this is the perfect place.

Unsure of what we were about to sample at a degustation meal, we sat down for our meal accompanied by matching wines. Well, what a great menu it turned out to be. Black Ink Pasta enclosing Paua. I had never had Paua, but this was simply delicious. Venison Carpaccio was so nice. Many other dishes were just as great. A great menu to tempt all palates. Especially as those dishes were ones that you may not have ever ventured to try before. A great evening and would recommend.

The menu is degustation style. We chose not to read what it is and trust the chef. The presentation vessel of the dishes was stone plate or solid ceramic bowls. They look very Japanese or French and in very fine condition. All of our dishes had a seafood focus but one which was venison. The food was mostly similar with some fine dining style portion of various ingredients put together either among some foam some broth or some soupy content. They were all fresh and quality ingredients but somewhat repetitive with the meals being about a series of bowls with everything floating in some form of liquid. The texture was identical and the taste was very similar. The fried bread at the start was not soft or warm and was in fact almost like a scone that failed to rise. I wish there was more that I could praise for and look forward to a very dynamic and diverse experience in a great dining spot.
