"Singapore’s Padang playing field has remained undisturbed by major construction since it was zoned for public use in 1819, just after Stamford Raffles staked his claim on Singapore for the British Empire. It remains the country’s favorite civic venue for events such as the National Day Parade. The field, once located along Singapore’s coastline and now further inland due to land reclamation, is surrounded by the nation’s most important colonial-era buildings, most of which still stand. The neoclassical, colonnaded former City Hall (built in 1929), and its neighbor, the grand old Supreme Court edifice (from 1939), are still sitting pretty—both are now part of the National Gallery Singapore. The 1884-erected Singapore Cricket Club, with its red-tile roof and green shutters, anchors one end of the field; on the other side you can find the great white St. Andrew’s Cathedral, dating from 1861."
NDP 2025 was most interesting, to say the least. Going with friends was not such a bad idea after all. Furthermore, I was able to practice my photography skills 🔥🙏

The Padang is a large, open playing field located in the heart of Singapore's Civic District. It is situated within the Downtown Core of the Central Area and is surrounded by a number of significant landmarks, including:
* The National Gallery Singapore (which occupies the former City Hall and Supreme Court buildings)
* Saint Andrew's Cathedral
* The Singapore Cricket Club
* The Singapore Recreation Club
It is also easily accessible via public transport, with the City Hall MRT station being the closest stop.

Enjoyed the NDP preview at the padang 2nd August 2025 and wanted to share pictures.
The location is iconic for many NDPs and also has historic significance for Singapore.

Went for SG60, first time at the padang! We were seated at the topmost row. Thought that it might have been hard to go home/exit the premises, but it was efficient and not too bad. Going to the toilet can be a bit challenging as you have to shuffle past everyone in the narrow seats. Since ours was the top row, there was a lot of birdshit. Nevertheless we had a good view of MBS, the acoustics were good, clear view of the parade!

Got to watch the ndp 2024 live. Scroll through my photos to see how it’s like to be sitting at the green zone. Rained before the show but fortunately not during. Please cloud seed for next year sg60 if not there may be accidents that could have been prevented if the floor is not slippery.
