In Goa, a Thriving Food and Cocktail Scene Is Catering to a New Wave of Transplants

"Back in Panaji, over pillowy pastéis de nata, a Portuguese egg custard sprinkled with cinnamon, Ralph Prazeres explains how Goa is literally eating out of his hands. Prazeres, a Goan local who returned home after international success, launched the bakery Padaria Prazeres last year with his wife, Stacy Gracias..."

Padaria Prazeres is a delightful spot for a cozy treat. We tried their Berliners, coffee, and hot chocolate—all of which were absolutely delicious. The Berliners were fresh and indulgent, pairing perfectly with the rich hot chocolate and well-brewed coffee. Service was impressively quick and efficient, making the experience smooth and enjoyable. While the prices are on the higher side, the quality justifies the cost—definitely worth every penny. Highly recommended for a sweet break or a casual coffee outing.

Great and tasty. French/European cuisine. Absolutely loved it. Nice selection and fresh food. Very quick service and great staff. We visited twice Only suggestion for improvement: For first time customers if you could give a menu card with small images of the food it will help. Not everyone knows names of all the food items.

Have heard soooo many good things about this place and it has forever been on my must visit list! Finally, made it and it was totally worth every bit of the hype! This quaint little cafe reminded me of the cafe frenzy back in NYC! From the most popular Pasteis de Nata, to cinnamon roll, followed by chocolate Berliner; it was indeed a delightful gastronomical experience! This place is usually packed and so, to make the most of it, also ordered eggs Benedict and iced Americano, followed by lip smacking garlic cream cheese bagel and soul satiating Piccolo (shot of Espresso + 20%milk!). Definitely going back for more!

We found this inhouse bakery while exploring the bylanes of Panjim Goa. It was just such a pleasure to visit as you can see their open bakery and a wide spread of varieties in bread , cakes etc. But the best part was the egg tart just loved it. Pricing wise it a bit high but worth the taste. I also tried their chocolate cake slice it was just yummy. Highly recommended for sweet tooth 😋

We were excited to visit after all the hype, but it didn’t quite meet expectations. The staff felt indifferent and not very welcoming, which took away from the experience. The Salmon Cream Cheese Bagel was a standout — super fresh and tasty! The Chicken Parm Sando, though, was dry, under-seasoned, and not described properly when we ordered. Coffee lovers should try their cold long brew — strong and perfect for Goa weather. Grabbed a Mocha Cake to-go, which was good too. Bonus: super clean and fresh-smelling washrooms — 5/5!

A must-visit café in Panaji, Goa! I highly recommend trying their famous Custard Berliner. it’s absolutely melt-in-your-mouth delicious. If we ever return to Goa, it would be just for their Berliner and the irresistible Garlic Butter Knot.

Padaria Prazeres in Caranzalem, Goa, offers a charming European-style café experience with freshly baked goods. Their garlic cream cheese bagel is flavorful, and the fruit tart is a must-try. The café has a cozy ambiance with indoor and outdoor seating. I love their pastéis de nata too and of course the warm atmosphere. A great spot for quality baked treats in Goa!
