Padaria Ribeiro

I cannot fathom how horrible our experience was at this bakery’s restaurant. The pastries on the bakery side looked great, but the food in the restaurant was horrendous. We both ordered the crunchy chicken sandwich and the meat was extremely concerning (picture attached). It looked almost raw and had pink spots. The sandwich buns were cold and the tomato had mold. Do not come here for the restaurant food! The bakery is probably fine.

Friendly service that took the time to explain what each of the traditional Portuguese pastries and baked goods were, very authentic, tasty and reasonably (not tourist trap) priced. Got about 7-8 items for 11 euros including a large ham and cheese bun, and a bolas de Berlim. They also have mini versions of everything if you want to try more!

Little pastry shop, worth going to before/after you go into Livraria Llelo. Friendly staff and decent prices, despite being in a touristy area. There's and indoor space that isn't obvious but you have to go outside and next door. Highly recommend the Napoleon pastry (comes topped with chocolate or vanilla) but the hot chocolate not so much.

I just came for a quick pastry, so I can't speak for everything, but it tasted great to me, like all the other pastry shops I've tried in Portugal. Service is friendly and quick.

Americano is nice. Cream pastry is nice. Ham & cheese and shrimp pastries were not bad but wouldn’t recommend. Carrot cake was too sweet I didn’t like it.

Nice but the base was too thick. - Meringue - Mini carrot tart - Mini almond tart - Almond cookie The mini tarts is the way to go (all four items were 1,60€) so you can try multiple things.

Close to the famous lello bookstore, there is this place. You can find here mini desserts, desserts and savory snacks. Good prices, super tasty. Really recommend! Just one complain, for the serving, we were seated outside and we had the same problem then other people, there is like a kind of misunderstanding between who ordered inside but is seated outside and who is just for the take away. result: they dont serve you inside neither outside 😅

I know, I know...ANOTHER pastry shop in Portugal, but we couldn't help ourselves. While on the tour we stopped in this lovely little pastry shop - AMÊNDOA TORRADA - and tried the Clarinha de Fão - essentially fried dough that was stuffed with a sweet pumpkin marmalade (not pumpkin pie filling, but really pumpkin or some kind of squash) and it was remarkably delicious. Our guide was pleased that we tried something 'different' because she said most people just go with something 'safe'.

I always have to have something a little sweet after a meal, so we stopped in because it was few doors from where we had lunch. The service was friendly and informative. I told her I had a peanut allergy, and she pointed out what I couldn't have. The place is small with no seating inside. We picked 5 things; she was shocked that we didn't get any pastel de nata. We told her that we had a lot in Lisbon. She said theirs is a little different, so we got one. Most of the items I don't know their names. I did like the coconut one, carrot one, and there was on covered in sugar with a pineapple filling or at least I think it was pineapple. I haven't tasted the de nata yet.

Pastries excellent; service not. We two had just landed in Porto, and stopped in for pastries to takeout. Pastries: 4.0. Pasteis de nata Service: 2.0. Unsmiling and inconsiderate. The two ladies working the counter and the register had a conversation as we waited to pay. So we figured out how to pay on our own.

Great pastry shop and place to stop for some baked goods and coffee in the morning. Their quiches are great as are their pastries.

If you need coffee while walking around here, this is the place to go. If you don't speak Portuguese pretty, but sure you can point to or use your translator. The friendly staff will work with you as you stumble with your bad Portuguese. They deliver great-tasting coffee and tasty treats.

I was working my way up to trying as many Pasteis de nata as I can in Portugal. Padaria Riberio was probably the first decent one that I had. A bit more so on the eggy side. In a scale of 10 I would have scored it 7.5/10.

I can't say the natas were the best at Padaria Ribeiro. They were decent, but I fell in love with the fish croquettes. Those were certainly noteworthy and delicious.

Pastel de nata was terrible. The proportions were all off... pastry was extremely thin. Also the pastry was extremely hard. The custard itself was just not very tasty. Finally because they don't seem to specialize in pastel de nata, the turnover must be fairly slow so they didn't seem to be very fresh. We tried some other pastries too which were ok but not special. I'd recommend going to Fabrica de Nata for the pastel de nata.

Tasty, tasty, tasty pastel de nata But service could be better. Coffee was good and appropriately priced.

This bakery in central Porto offers a smorgasbord of delectable goodies. The salted codfish croquettes are good, as are the sweets. If you want takeaway, order at the counter, but if you want to sit at one of their outdoor tables, then just take a seat and order from there.

Delicious pastries, the guy behind the counter wasn't the friendliest though. The croissants were light, airy, and sweet glazed on top. Seems like most of the croissants we tried in Porto had the sweetness on top which I totally liked. The sugar donut like pastry we tried was also excellent, doughy yet airy and delicious. They have tons of fresh breads, pastries, cookies, you name it!

For recent trip to Portugal, I tried total 9 bakeries and pastry shops and Pastéis de Belém was recommended by travel guide and others were discovered by surprises. My Pastéis de Nata tasting tour started at First Café inside Lisbon airport while I was waiting for my luggage. Pastéis de Belém was 2nd bakery which I visited and Confeitaria Nacional was 6th. Padaria Ribeiro was discovered when I was at Porto airport and waited my flight back home. I like Pastéis de Nata from Padaria Ribeiro is because no overpower cinnamon or nutmeg flavor. Pastéis de Nata is fresh, flaky pastry with delicious soft, sweet egg yolk filling. I can't say which store offer the most authentic Pastéis de Nata but if I visit Portugal again, Confeitaria Nacional, Padaria Ribeiro and Pastéis de Belém will be on top of my list.

I found this place through a google search for Porto croissants and Anthony Bourdain *RIP* had an article where he mentioned it. We got a pastel de nata, pao de deus, and a croissant with sugar on top - realized later this was a chocolate one which was fine! We sat outside to enjoy the weather but there were a lot of pigeons...I watched in horror as a pigeon hopped onto the table next to us and started pecking at the couple's pastry....then was joined by two more pigeons. A server came and shooed them away - quite a moment to remember! As we were leaving, a pigeon immediately hopped onto our table to get the leftover crumbs. These birds don't give AF! I don't know if something was left off but 3 pastries + a cappuccino rang up as 2.95 Euros. Why can't America have these types of prices??

We loved this bakery for having everything in a miniature size. As our first visit to Porto, we wanted to try everything and having mini sizes was the way to go. Not only that, everything we tasted was very good. We had all the croquettes - shrimp, beef, cod, chicken - all good. Our favorite was the almond tart which was so delicious we went back for more. I also preferred their nata custard because it has a more yolky taste. They even have a full breakfast and lunch menu if you want more than just baked goods.

This bakery is in a small space but produces a great variety of Portuguese breads and pastries. Everything I tried was awesome. My biggest regret is that I wasn't here every day of my visit! My friend Tiago (how could he not be Portuguese?!) insisted I try a savory pastry filled with shrimp, which was a good snack. With my sweet tooth, however, I was happy to move on to the sweet treats. I really enjoyed a small tart filled with candied spaghetti squash. Unfortunately, after just a few bites and an espresso, we had to take off. Tiago had an unexpected emotional outburst in response to the port-soaked croissant. IT WAS JUST TOO DELICIOUS! Face all red, he RAGED about how it's IMPOSSIBLE to get croissant like this in the USA. I could see he wanted to order another one, but I was afraid of what might happen if he did.

Nata!!! Soooo good. Delicious pastries, and beautiful too. We tried to refrain from buying one of everything, and only somewhat succeeded. The nata was of course amazing; somehow, that special bit of burnt sugar on top really adds to the overall consistency and taste of the pastry and it's perfect. The almond croissant was, as other reviewers have noted, airy, light, and flavorful. Everything was full of added sugar but in the most delicious, natural-tasting way. Nothing tasted overly sweet. The glaze was restorative; I was feeling weird from jet lag and lack of sleep, and it brought me back to life. The Porto pastry scene is on point. This place is super popular, and it seems clear that it's a favorite, though perhaps with a tendency to attract a bunch of tourists like myself.

Amazing price for tasteful food. Great outdoor environment and chicken sandwich. Superb coffee all around great choice for a cafe. MUST COME HERE!!

Lots of people were lined up for this place, and they all left with huge bags filled with breads and pastries--so this was the clearly the place to go. The workers here were all very nice and graciously explained all the different baked goods they offered. MUST GET: - Portuguese tart. The tart itself was light and flaky, and it wasn't too overly sweet. It was like heaven in my mouth. Highly recommend! - Any filled bread pastries. All the breads were fresh and soft. Best one I tried was a savory croissant like bread filled with tuna.

Overpriced, pigeon infested, mediocre/poor food. Their Torta de Nata was especially not great.

I went theere to try nata. At that moment they only had small size so I bought two of them. They were much more sweeter than I thought.

Rick Steves let me down on this one, which is rare. Food here was good (scrambled eggs on toast and almond tart), but the table service was abysmal. I'd recommend getting pastries to go and skip having to deal with the wait staff.

Got the chocolate croissant and cafe con leche!! So delicious! The pastry was soft, and it almost tasted like t was infused with some kind of wine. My only complaint was that it didn't have enough chocolate on the inside.

Went here twice. We had eggs/ham/toast and salmon/cheese/toast one time and just pastries the second. Everything was excellent and the price more than reasonable. We bought 3 cappuccinos and 5 pastries for €8.4. That's incredible. The waiters were friendly and there were always people getting takeaway. The croissants and salmon toast are highly recommended.

Fabulous desserts here! So excited to see mini desserts to try multiple. Loved the almond crisps and nutty mix in a crispy shell. Long lines, small shop, fresh desserts, friendly staff that try to help with bits of English and my bad translations. I would live here!

There's a reason the line is out the door! Better Natas than in Lisbon in our opinion. But the savory pastries were great too -- stuffed with salmon, cod, chicken, etc.
