"My favorite hostel in Puerto Viejo, Pagalu Hostel is spacious and clean, located right in town for easy access to everything, and they have hot showers." - Matthew Kepnes

A fantastic hostel, I highly recommend! Super clean and comfortable, with a fantastic aesthetic. Perfect for relaxing. Easy to connect with others, but it's not a party or super social hostel which is good for rest. Great for the price. My dorm room had AC, plus personal fans, and a very large locker in the room that all my stuff could fit in. Kitchen was very well kept. Overall, a great stay!

Clean hostel with a friendly atmosphere and staff. We had a really good service from Flo. Private rooms need some improvement such as curtains, long mirror and better drying of towels.

This hostel has great facilities which are maintained in good order. Large cupboards and a shelf for your personal belongings, rails for wet towels, several fans and AC in the rooms, spacious bathrooms with a changing area, yoga mats and many more. There's unlimited coffee in the morning and a water cooler. Everything has been thought out well. There are strict rules in place which make it possible for everyone to have a good rest and a stress-free stay so if you like a more social and party-friendly hostel, this isn't it, but if you need to get some sleep, then you're in the right place. My only disappointment came from not being able to choose a bed when I was the first to check in my room as most other hostels operate on a first come first serve basis. So make sure you request a bed when you book.

Today there was a man running the desk at the hostel. His behavior is erratic. He either utterly ignored me, or the tone of his voice sounded aggressive towards me. I felt uncomfortable and unsafe. I left the hostel immediately. I do not recommend this hostel for solo female travelers.

Super friendly staff, all the facilities are spotless, and the kitchen is well stocked. Incredible, calm vibes to top it off. Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Puertp Viejo if we came back.

Calm, beautiful, 5 Min away from the beach and the Bus Stop. You can cook your own food, chill in a hammock. They even have chess and the staff IS very kind :)

A great, clean and welcoming hostel in Puerto Vieja. Check in is from 2.30pm (and this is non negotiable) however there's space to leave your bags if you arrive early. The hostel is located a few blocks back from the beach and next door to a supermarket. The staff are really friendly and hardworking and on hand if you need anything. There's a security guard on a night and he's really lovely. Space for 4 cars to securely park on the property. We stayed in a private room with a bathroom. It was spacious, comfy and the bed was made every day. There's no air con, but the fans do the job. The communal area and kitchen is huge, and they have plastic boxes for you to store your food. There's free coffee until about mid day and a cold water dispenser. The WiFi worked really well, but in the rooms can sometimes drop if lots of people are using it. Overall we had a great stay here!

Perfect hostel for Backpackers. Such a nice vibe there. Everyone was very friendly, the staff was helpful, it was very clean everywhere, the room, kitchen and common area is well equipped, the open architecture is very cozy, the location is quiet but close to the beach and the main road with shops etc. Right next to the hostel is a big supermarket. We enjoyed the stay a lot and we would come back every time!
