Pagoda is an affordable hotel that is convenient. The room was clean and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. I was able to check in earlier and do a late check out. They offered the guest a $5 breakfast coupon at their restaurant. You can't get breakfast at that price anywhere. It was delicious! I highly recommend Pagoda. It's not a fancy resort but their level of service is top notch. I will definitely stay at Pagoda again.

We stayed for a week and discovered bedbugs and had to be moved. The staff were very unfriendly and we discovered an additional $500 in extra charges on our receipt which were never disclosed. The manager did give us some plastic bags and $20 in quarters to do all our laundry due to the bedbugs and then we found out later that she charged my credit card for the $20 in quarters. They have an extra hidden fee for amenities which at every other hotel on the planet are included in the price (TP, Shampoo, Towels), but not at the Pagoda that will cost you a $30 per day amenities fee + tax. Housekeeping never stopped by our units, we had to launder our own towels and take out our own trash. Both rooms were not clean and we discovered used condoms next to our bed and feces on our toilet seat. On the third night we discovered that they drained the Koi pond and let them suffocate and die. The staff refused at this point to even answer our calls or speak to us when we approached the desk. I called in advance to find out if the pool was heated and if they had roll away beds. They told me the pool was heated and they would put a bed in our room. Turns out the pool is NOT heated and they charged my credit card $35.00 per day for the roll away bed. Worst hotel I have ever stayed at, hands down and no exaggeration.

The location was very good. Since the hotel was just a block away from Donki and Walmart, I was able to save a lot of money by cooking most of the nights. ||However, as a caveat, the stove in the kitchen wasn't working. It heated a little bit and I was able to sautee somehting with a very low heat, but it never got hot enough to even boil some water. But I was able to cook most of the food with the microwave and a rice cooker. ||Some people were complaining about the way AC air was blowing but I turned it off and opened the window most of the time. The breeze from the window was very comfortable.||The coffee in the room was horrible when I made it in the coffee machine. So I broke the packets, retrieved the coffee grind from the packets and used my personal coffee dripper and a paper filter to make a decent cup of coffee. So it's not the coffee itself but the form of coffee packet that was making it taste terrible.||I liked the fact that the housekeeping was only once every four days. I didn't have to worry about someone knocking on the door when I was in the room during the day.||The ladies at the front desk were not very nice. One of them yelled at me when she was frustrated. I guess that's the price I have to pay for staying at an affordable hotel, but IMO, they need serious hospitality training.

**review is for the meeting facilities only, NOT an overnight stay** Here for an afternoon meeting in the penthouse facility. The lobby looked refreshed and clean, with new wood-grain ceramic tile, new furniture, and a very cute convenience store area for extra amenities. Everything was clean and orderly that I saw, and the staff was busy cleaning as I walked past to and from the meeting. I even overheard the hotel manager thanking one of the staff for working hard and saying hi to a guest. From what I could see, it seemed to be a charming boutique hotel with very nice folks.

My wife and I are Kamaʻāina, (Google it) and stayed at the Pagoda December 8th – 15th, 2024 so we may be easier to please than some who have never lived in Hawaii. Yes, the rooms are dated and are definitely showing their age, but we didn't come for the beautiful ocean views from our balcony, but to see our Ohana and friends. So, the most important factors to us are that the room is clean, (which it was) and the things in the room functioned, fridge, microwave etc., (and they did). we didn't need housekeeping, we just requested necessary towel changes and toiletries at the front desk which worked perfectly for us. The Pagoda is a hotel not a resort which wasn't what we we're looking for. We we're looking for a place to sleep, eat, (great breakfast by the way), shower and change, a homebase if you will for visiting on the Winward side, which is exactly what the Pagoda provided. if it's a resort you’re looking for go stay at Ko Olina and pay $700 a night, you'll get the resort experience along with the price tag. If you not happy with the fact that the Pagoda is dated and a little run down, just wait they will eventually remodel and the rooms will go for $400-$500 a night. For those who complained about the resort fees take it up with the County of Honolulu. Parking? Yes, it's expensive, compared to many places on the mainland ($31 a night), but there are others that are just as expensive or higher. For us it was a convenience to park just a short walk from the hotel lobby and worth the price, but we’ve lived there and have an understanding of what things cost in Hawaii. It certainly beats driving around and around and around in circles in Honolulu trying to find one of the free parking spots that are available, like near the Ala Wai Canal and then you have to hoof it to your hotel and that means carrying your purchases with you, trust me as someone who hauled a laptop case full of tech gear from my parking area to my office on Kuakini street and back, it gets old, fast, but my arms are two inches longer ;-) That $5.00 breakfast that isn’t a 100% included with your room? From our perspective, it was freaking fantastic, you can’t get a breakfast like that for $5.00 anywhere on Oahu. The staff we’re great, I spent time talking story with the security guard, the housekeeping staff we’re super helpful and the front desk staff went out of their way to show us the Aloha we’ve come to know and love from our home. If you’re looking for the resort experience where you never have to even leave the property and are satisfied with “fake” Hawaii, you can definitely find it on Island, it’s all a matter of perspective, for us the Pagoda exactly what we we’re looking for and we’d stay there again without hesitation. Pau!

Google Maps placed us on the backside of the hotel where there was no parking for check-in. The clerk was behind a plastic partition making it difficult to understand one another. Parking was an extra fee of $33/night. The clerk gave unclear instructions for parking and there is no signage for guest parking. The is a parking ramp across the street that says Pagoda Parking but, is NOT affiliated with Pagoda Hotel and is $20/hour. The first thing you noticed stepping off the elevator was the smell of old fish being reheated. There was no soundproofing in the walls or doors, and you could hear everything from doors slamming to garage trucks at 0500 hours. The show/tub was moldy and there was hair on the toilet. I did not use the hotel’s WIFI as I did not feel secure using it. I would not recommend this location for any long-term stays. If you do so, I recommend taking your valuables with you each time you leave the room. There is a $30 amenity fee for WIFI, newspaper, in-room safe, coffee packets, and local and toll-free calls. And a $5 breakfast voucher. I never got a receipt from Expedia and will be keeping a close eye on my credit card bill. Please note I took the photos the next morning.

Google
Good location. It is easy to get around in Honolulu and Manoa. Friendly staff! Rooms are older and had ants, but the price couldn't be beat.

Google
Positives: it's an economical, old-school option if you're okay walking toward the braves and activities. It's also centrally located for other non-beach activities. It recently passed its 50th anniversary. Downside: mandatory $35 service fee. Really old fixtures and AC. Pretty slow elevator and front desk service (just tight and lightly staffed).

Yelp
The staff was amazingly helpful! Especially Lori and the female security guard. The room was updated with a partial bath remodel. The hallway had dated carpet that should've been replaced years ago! Painting the hallway only goes so far! The location can't be beat! I was a little surprised at the $33 a day parking. But it was nearby and plentiful! There was a nice pool area. The breakfast for a $5 charge per 2 person wasn't bad! The reason for the low star rating was due to the loud construction that woke us at 7am every morning! It wasn't until Thursday morning that the construction workers started at 6:30am! I quickly went downstairs and asked to change rooms to the other side of the hotel. The hotel staff quickly complied. We were still woken by the garbage truck at 7. But it's not nearly as loud ask the construction across the street. Double pane windows may help! :)

Yelp
For $168/night with all taxes included, which is a bargain in Honolulu, you can only expect so much. Similar to certain people you know who sadly don't have their s*** together that you have low expectations towards, you gotta keep your expectations low with this place. You need to know what you're realistically getting into, beforehand. The Pagoda Hotel has been around since 1964 and so of course it's old and dated, even with any renovations that were completed in recent years. If you want to stay at a nicer, more modern, ocean-front hotel, then come on now, this ain't it. But, if you want to be real close to Ala Moana and you looking for budget, then this ain't that bad. Checking in and out was easy, the employees that I'd encountered were nice and I remember the inside of the two elevators always smelled like flowers during the two nights that I'd spent here in mid Jan. 2025, which was unexpected, but pleasant. Bathroom fixtures were awful, though, with the tub having paint cracking off, both sink and tub areas with orange colorations that don't come off, shower temperature handles dangling from the wall and water pressure from both sink and shower heads so damn weak AF. . . There's an air of neglect, here. Fortunately, no roaches or any other critters were found during my stay here. Room came with a small fridge, toaster, microwave, safe and hair dryer. For used towels and trash, you better remember to put that all out by your door by 10am, if you want your trash emptied and new towels provided, as they only come into your room during every 4th stay. Ultimately, there were far too many cons than pros with this place and I would not stay here, again - once was enough. I'm truly looking forward to staying at my favorite hotel the next time I'm back in Honolulu, the Prince Waikiki, which is on the other side of the spectrum.

Yelp
This hotel has always been known to be the ghetto last resort hotel. But.... I recently stayed here on the bottom floor. I think it could have been a suite. It was super nice and very spacious! They also give u a $5 breakfast coupon, which I didn't think would be that great, but it was so large in charge and delicious! I'd go there for breakfast any day! Staff not too friendly though.

Yelp
I used to come here often when I was younger with my family as a staycation. We dinned numerous of times at the "floating restaurant" eating crab legs, feeding the koi, and taking pictures at the waterfall. I had mixed feelings to find out that Pagoda Restaurant old location has since changed to Sorabol. Happy that Sorabol has reopened but sad that Pagoda Restaurant (buffet) is gone. When I grew up I took my children to the restaurant and made a few good memories as well. We have moved away and decided to stay here for a few days. Good Location: - Close to the world's largest open-air shopping mall. It's called Ala Moana Shopping Center. - Near Waikiki - Near Ala Moana Beach Hotel: Two Double Beds Room - According to the site it stated that the hotel rooms are refurbished. - It took a bit for the water to heat up in the tub. My boys questioned me if it was okay to take a bath in the bathtub. - I had reserved 4 people to stay over and there weren't enough towels in the bathroom. - I liked that it had a mini fridge and microwave. - My kids were excited that they saw a gaming system in the room. Blu-ray/DVD player and PlayStation 3 console, however, every time I checked down stairs everything was checked out. I checked morning, afternoon, and evening. - The air conditioning blew cold. - The beds were comfortable. Daily Amenity Fee ($30) per day: If it wasn't for the breakfast, the Amenity fee would not be worth it. * $5 daily breakfast: WORTH IT. They give you a coupon voucher for $5 breakfast. My family and I went every day that we stayed. It's called the Pagoda Restaurant (No Buffet) and they serve local breakfast. There is a specific menu that you can order from. We almost tried every single item that was offered on the menu and enjoyed it. Except for the Ham Omelet & Vegable Omlet. We also ordered other items from the regular menu such as the Ox Tail Soup, Loco Moco, and Pork Belly all great items too. Service was great every time we came. It did get busy at times and they let us know if the kitchen was a bit behind. * Blu-ray/DVD movies and PlayStation 3 game rentals (couldn't use it) * Daily local newspaper (in lobby) I grabbed a paper every day except for Saturday because The Honolulu Advertiser stopped printing physical papers for Saturday in 2020. * In-room coffee and tea packets replenished on request In-room safe Local and toll-free calls WiFi access throughout the property. I didn't use the coffee machine and WiFi was a bit spotty at times. * Free fish food for the Koi. When I was a child this was one of the big highlights when we dined at the original restaurant; to feed the fish. My kids also enjoy doing this. Pool: It was small but fine for my younger boys. The pool is not heated. Parking: Self-Parking is $31. A lot of hotels in Hawaii charge for parking. You can try street parking and metered parking. Pagoda no longer shares parking with Ross. It shares parking with Sorobal and there is limited parking in front of the hotel. The parking structure is right after you pass Sorobal on the right hand side. Overall: When we come back to Hawaii I wouldn't mind staying here for the the price, THE BREAKFAST, the location, and the nostalgia. 2024: 8/30 Rememba da hanabada days when we feed da koi at da floating restaurant?

Brian N.

Yelp
We stayed at pagoda from 2/2 to 2/10 while my dad was at the hospital for major surgery. The front desk people were great when they "squeezed" us in for an extended time since my dad's discharge date may have gone beyond our initial check out date ...even though the hotel was booked. I appreciated them making arrangements to make that happen Luckily we didn't need the full extension. Room was comfortable and there was a lot of parking.

Terri P.

Yelp
Where the locals stay!! Pagoda hotel has always been the comfort blankie of hotels for outer island locals. Yes, the hotel is old, but its familiarity is part of its charm. I heard from others to stay away due to lack of cleanliness and critters, but my stay was quite pleasant, my room was clean and I didn't see any bugs during my whole stay. I was even told the carpet was still a bit wet due to a shampoo. I'm a simple gal and it had the basic amenities I look for....comfortable bed, hot water and a good shower head. Some highlights of this hotel... Location! Location! Location! It's walking distance to Ala Moana shopping center and beach, Donki, Walmart, Ross Dress for less. $5 breakfast coupons (substantial breakfast plates for $5) Fish feeding...free fish food at front desk to feed the koi. DVD rental machine- to keep the kids occupied. $29 a night parking..seriously, with other hotels charging $50 plus..this is quite affordable. Friendly staff, quickly responsive when we asked for extra towels. I took one star off cause I still find it a bit pricey for an older hotel even with Kama'aina rate but I will stay here again.

Melanie L.

Yelp
What can I say, this hotel is run down. Whoever did the paint job was lazy, and I found a roach in my room. Currently has construction nearby and AC unit is pretty loud so this is not a place for light sleepers. The only good thing about this place is that there are some nearby restaurants that have good ratings. I got the boba nearby and liked that.

Hunter B.

Yelp
When looking for a hotel in Honolulu, within walking distance of the beach, shops, etc, this seemed like the choice. The price, compared to other places seemed reasonable and we booked it. We based most of our decision on the photographs on their website. Upon arrival, it became abundantly clear to us that photographs were taken a long time ago, and or heavily doctored. The room itself was spacious enough, but our phone did not work, the hood for the kitchenette was broken, and one of the burners was broken. I contacted maintenance, which showed up fast enough, but then insisted that the hood was working. When I had him remove the actual hood vent filter, it started spinning. I had to convince him that it was warped and not moving. He finally replaced it, got the phone working, and the stove was working. This place as an insect problem. Like bad! For the first three days we were there, I kept telling them about ants and even roaches around the bathroom and kitchenette area. On the third day, I had to physically goto the front desk and tell them that we would be gone half the day, and to spray before we got back. That helped, and the only bugs that we saw were the night before we left. The beds in this place are horrible. For the first two nights, I literally could not sleep because the bed was hurting my entire body. When I called for help on this, they didn't have any spare mattresses. They did try to soften it up some, but really was not enough. The beds themselves are small, so just know that when you are booking a two bed, you are getting small twins, not full. Location was good as others have noted. However, this does not make up for such a terribly rundown place. The owners need to start doing renovations now. The paint is peeling, and the decor is just super old. My biggest complaint is, the photos on the website are highly deceptive, and it is not worth $250 a night, plus all the fees they lump on. A person would be better suited getting an AirBnB than staying here. It's a decision I certainly regret. Furthermore, I keep reading, "Not the place for tourists, for locals only." If locals think this place is "charming" or "great" then all I can say is their standards are pretty low. I was not looking for the Ritz or anything like that, but this place is a dive. Again, major renovations need to take place immediately.

Jay W.

Yelp
Additional staff needed at checkin deck, please. Place was clean and comfortable. Great responsiveness when door key stopped working.

Denise S.

Yelp
Aside from the front desk and security staff- we were disapointed to be in an "Upgraded" room. It was old, crawling ants everywhere carpet was smelly. Went on the advice of Expedia and wanted a room in a central area for shopping and eating. It was except for the homeless folks roaming around in the parking lot made us feel a little uneasy. They say you get what you pay for and we felt we couldve gotten something better for the price we paid.

Noe U.

Yelp
Friendly employees, affordable meals, clean lobby and price was right for our short stay.

Rik H.

Yelp
Old and tired. Somewhat well kept. Staff is nice-ish. (They share the old/tired feel of the place. I guess it's hard to be bright and cheery in this environment.) They weren't rude, just very businesslike and abrupt. Decent value if you need/want to be close to Ala Moana and just want a room. I saved like $50/night staying here vs. @ the Ala Moana Honolulu. I knew what I was getting into. I've certainly stayed in worse.

Mr. Walter W.

Yelp
How you rate this hotel depends on where you're from (Kamaaina), your history with Pagoda and your understanding of the global economy. True the lobby was redone and looks modern. The rooms have been maintained as is financially possible. If you don't spend a lot of time in your room, Pagoda is still a fair place to stay. If you're use to Las Vegas luxury at The Cosmopolitan, then this is not the place for you. Don Quixote's is a block away, Ross's is across the street. Walmart is down the block. Ala Moana is 2 blocks away. What Pagoda lacks in luxury it makes up for in location. Yes in the 80's Pagoda was the go-to place for residents from other islands. Th But as mentioned, us locals could walk to everywhere. Even if you wanted to walk from your hotel room to Waikiki beach, it is only 1.8 miles which takes you over the Ala Wai bridge. In this review I want to acknowledge the staff that work at the Pagoda Floating Restaurant and Catering. Right now they are trying to reestablish the restaurant side. They have a temporary area off to the side, in the back of the hotel parking lot area. Admittedly the area isn't something to behold but the food is excellent. The morning staff on June 13, 2022 were incredibly accommodating. Our waitress/host was Rayna. OMG it was talking with my crazy funny sister-in-law. All the staff that morning were VERY attentive. They must have fine-dining experience or they should easily be working at some up scale eatery, like a Gordon Ramsey or Spago.

Linh L.

Yelp
Lots of cockroaches, bugs, and mosquitoes. Bugs on the bed. Stove was broken. Got fixed one of them and then broke again. Very noisy outside. Had to leave AC on high to get some sleep. People parked their cars like they didn't care. Paid $500 st. Plus at the hotel. Laundry on paper said 2.50 but on machines is 3.50. I wish I have chosen a better one. Front desk staff did not smile. Hospitality jobs but their faces looked serious. Will not be back.

Georgina B.

Yelp
Hawaii's version of Motel 6. Don't recommend it if you have kids or traveling solo. Parking on site is minimal at $29/night-no security guard. THERE IS METERED PARKING right in front but it's a sketchy area. Sometimes the key cards for the elevator and room work, sometimes they don't. Yes, it is nearby many appealing places - Ala Moana, the beach - but there are other beaches and you can go to Ala Moana if you stay elsewhere. The rooms are dated and the staff is friendly enough. We didn't have a shuttle to/from the airport. Granted our flight got in at 10pm but the departing flight was 2pm and we forked out more for an Uber to get all the way back to the airport. What a hassle. Safety first...don't do it.

Pat G.

Yelp
The staff were great. They were very welcoming and kind. The room was very junky. If I was paying $69 for a Motel 6 it would be understandable. But for $250 a night, I don't expect a room that hasn't been upgraded in decades. The pillows are like lumps of clay and the fire alarm that went off twice in error was delightful. The location is pretty good, only a few blocks to Ala Moana Bay.

Fely S.

Yelp
My sister and I always traveled together and we like to find the cheapest and most convenient place. We like pagoda it's close to Ala Moana shopping centre and the $5 breakfast is amazing for the price. The staffs are also nice. Parking is $25 per day and it's Cheaper than Waikiki at $50 a day.

Joey V.

Yelp
Reading previous reviews I must say the Pagoda deserves a lot more credit than it receives. I was treated very well from check in and especially now while enjoying their breakfast service which by the way cannot be beat! The quality of the food and service far exceeds the price. The breakfast coupons can be used for two meals per coupon($5). All around, friendly staff, a convenient mini mart, free dvd's for rent. The parking fee is $29 per night but compare it to other properties that are $50+ it's not that bad. The property itself is a little dated but it wasn't a deal breaker for me. I loved it as it was an essential place to rest and relax. But best of all is the location. Conveniently located to the Ala Moana mall and other nearby attractions. If renting a car it's a perfect location to get around to nearby places or anywhere around the island. As a plus I must say the elevators are pretty fast.

Tip E C.

Yelp
Stayed one night as kama'aina, still not worth what we paid. Everything was mediocre. Customer service on the phone was adequate, made three phone calls prior to and during stay to front desk with good courteous response. Would have given 3 stars except as we were leaving, the little shop attendant was complaining about teenage guests (appeared to be a visiting high school football team), and asked for hotel staff to have them leave the little hotel store. And as he did, the hotel employee said very loudly, "What do you expect? They're from the mainland. They think they're gonna be football stars but they'll probably end up on the street selling crack!". Pagoda hotel will never have my business again!

Kevin T.

Yelp
House is being tented for termites and we got a free nights stay here. I'm glad it was free because I would pay much more than $100 a night for this room! It's very old and run down. Our room has Popcorn ceilings which probably have asbestos. Mold above the AC and in the bathroom. This hotel needs a remodel badly.

Cristian M.

Yelp
Told us check in was at 3 pm but took over an hour and a half to get our room ready. Honestly don't know what they were getting ready because the room was filthy. Hairs everywhere on the bed, in the fridge, and all over the bathroom. You're better off spending the little extra for a nicer hotel. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Jay O.

Yelp
Not the place for tourist, for locals only!! Seriously not the fanciest place to stay but this place is a hidden local favorite. Best reason: 1. Location location location, within walking distance to Ala Moana mall, Don Quijote, Walmart/Sam's, many other attractions (caution: don't walk around after dark, no joke). 2. For Koi fish fans it has one of the largest Koi pond around literally with thousands of fish (ask front desk for free koi food to feed them), they're like piranhas you'll see when you feed em, good fun! 3. Staff and housekeeping very friendly and helpful, much Aloha! 4. Rooms are older setup but clean again if your looking for fancy smancy 4-5 star hotel stay away. After all you're in Hawaii hope your not parked in your room all day? 5. Breakfast if your a guest is literally $5.23 tax, where or where can you get breakfast for $5 bucks seriously. Servers, Host are the best say hi to Rayna she's awesome along with everyone else on the restaurant team. 6. Inside rooms are lockbox, flat screen TV, coffee maker, refrigerator, PS5 and you can rent free DVDs downstairs. Free newspaper daily except Sat. Note: keycards occasional have problems (older tech) but if you jiggle it around it usually works after 5x . Parking if you rented a car is $29 per night, compared to Waikiki hotels which range between ~$50-$80 up. I really should rate the Pagoda Hotel star in hopes this hidden gem doesn't get exposed, but if you go here with the right expectations you'll find for the price and it's offerings this place is a bargain.

Walter W.

Yelp
I do not recommend this hotel especially for military. I don't know how many people they've ripped off but they definitely weren't doing that to us. They pretend they don't know how TLA works. They pretend connection is bad. They pretend to cancel reservations. It's a good thing we are on it either way checking and making sure we get the cancellation email because we would have been charged. For military it states on the TLA approved hotel list that this hotel will waive amenity fees and there is free parking. This was not the case they were still gonna charge for all those fees. They acted liked they didn't know what TLA was. I don't know how they were approved to be on the TLA list. They're the cheapest but we ended up going with another hotel who was more than what pagoda offered but had the best customer service. The attitudes we got today just asking questions was not it. Their service is no good. If I could I would give them no stars. Terrible service.

Yelp
If you're coming to Honolulu and want to be near downtown rather than in the tourist hell of Waikiki, this is one of the few options. I tried it hoping it would be decent and reasonably priced. It wasn't quite a home run on either count. The prices on the Pagoda's website seem quite reasonable, but become a bit less so when you add the "amenity fee" -- an increasingly common practice that's just a scam to disguise the real price. At least that's disclosed pretty clearly online. Not so clearly disclosed -- at least when I booked my room -- is that they gouge you $29/day for parking -- an absolute necessity in a crowded neighborhood with limited street parking. As for the hotel, it's one of those places that feels like it's running on autopilot, with owners who long ago gave up on any thought of excellence. From the past-its-sell-by-date mattress to the peeling paint in the bathroom, the place feels like it hasn't had any TLC in some time. The elevators require you to insert your card key to go upstairs, but the card key reader only seems to work about every third time, causing constant annoyance. It's not terrible, just... meh. One plus: Guests get a coupon that gets you a pretty decent breakfast for $5.

Yelp
Good, local hotel. Room was clean and as expected for the price. Included breakfast was good. All staff was friendly and helpful. Lots of little restaurants and close to shops and Ala Moana. Would use again.

Yelp
Very friendly staff. Had an issue with airline and hotel was very accommodating to me and understanding of my situation. Staff was extremely hospitable and nice. Their shop in the lobby has everything you need at a fair price. Clean lobby. I was given a room connecting with another room (people I don't know) and was able to see their light/hear them when I was trying to go to sleep which was unexpected. Thankfully they were not having a party or anything otherwise it would have been difficult to sleep. I imagine they would have accommodated me had this been an issue. The 5 star rating is really because of how friendly and kind the staff was while I was there. I would recommend anyone needing a hotel in Honolulu to stay here!

Yelp
This used to be such a beautiful hotel. Our family stayed here whenever we came to Oahu The lobby has been refreshed but rooms are terribly neglected and dirty. There was black mold in the bathroom and there is dust and mold on the bathroom vent. The vent didn't even work. This hotel cannot be sanitized or Covid safe if it's not even clean.

Yelp
Had a terrible experience last night trying to check in! We had already paid for our reservation but the older front desk lady was extremely rude in assisting us informing us we could not get our rooms. Terrible customer service! And wish she didn't judge us based on our color! I was extremely disappointed in experiencing such racism

Yelp
Very bad customer service. I was planning to stay here in October but luckily my plans were canceled beyond my control. I called to cancel my reservation on August 15th which they stated would be credited to my cc account within the "refund guidelines" outlined by the property. Understandable. Called them again today 8/22/23 because I did not feel the refund was "in process". They stated a refund was processed on the date I canceled and referred me back to my cc company in a rather un-customer friendly way. Spoke to my cc company and they stated that in fact they couldn't even see an upcoming or pending transaction for a refund and would process a dispute immediately. I also would not be charged interest for the transaction in question and the rep credited the amount while they investigate the issue. Long story short, Pagoda Hotel, I will never do business with your property or any property you are associated with. I am so glad my plans had changed. Your handling of this matter was very unprofessional. I can only imagine what it would have been like to be served by you had my itinerary gone through. I would highly suggest investing in customer service training for your employees at the front desk as well as the over the phone reservations reps for the sake of your business. Good luck.

Yelp
First time staying here and I would definitely return as it's in a great location. Close to shopping and many good eating spots. Our room had a kitchenette with Mini fridge and microwave. Room service and front desk super friendly and helpful.

Yelp
This hotel is really for locals and NOT anyone looking for something really nice. It's in the heart of Honolulu and walking distances to Walmart, Sam's club, Ross, and many other shopping and eatery. The hotel itself is nice in the lobby. Two small elevators that needs room key to active. The hallway on our non smoking floor smelled like cigarettes, mj, and pee. We had to turned on the ac to filter out all the smell. We had a fridge, microwave, coffee machine, and a safe. We also had a sink in the room so if one of us needs to use it while a another person was using the restroom. Outside our window was construction. 3 transformers exploded during two nights. Aerial fireworks went off in the middle of the night. Zero good night rest. Multiple workers at the front desk. Most were nice. We got breakfast coupons for each of our night stays. One of the lady was rude to me when I asked for more not knowing it wasn't for everyone for every day of our stay. The restaurant had pretty good breakfast choices. We also got fish food to feed koi fish.

Yelp
In these COVID-19 times, if all you need is a room, without what used to be normal rooms service, then this might be an okay place to stay. I was there for 15 nights. When I booked the reservation, no mention was made that there would be minimal room service. It was only after I checked in and went up to my room that I read about it, but didn't realize the full extent. After my first night, I left a used towel on the floor to have it replaced by a clean one, as instructed by the message posted on the bathroom wall. And I left a cash tip on the bed stand. When I returned in the evening, the towel was still on the floor, the tip untouched. After a few days, I phoned the front desk and asked how I would arrange to have my room cleaned. She said they don't do that. If I wanted more than the one serving of coffee, or soap, or have the soiled towels exchanged for clean ones, I would have to arrange for the supplies to be delivered, the exchanges made, apparently without anyone coming into my room, with the delivery or exchange done outside my locked door. I guess room cleaning is just done after guests move out, in preparation for new guests. Speaking of which, I tried to go down the elevator once, late morning. You see, the posted rule is that only one person or family is allowed per elevator. I couldn't go down for many minutes because the staff were going up and down the two elevators - cleaning just vacated rooms? Anyway, when I tried to get on an elevator with a worker on board, she said that I couldn't, because that was the rule. After waiting for several more minutes, I finally just walked in when another employee was headed down, saying I had waited long enough. When I got out on the first floor, there was a line of guests waiting to go up. I don't know about other hotels in Honolulu, they may operate similarly for all I know. When things return to semi-normal, this could be a decent place at which to stay. Perhaps remember to bring your own supply of roach spray.

Yelp
The price of the hotel $241.83 for one night! This is NOT a luxury hotel. This place is in a crummy part of town. Places like this are the reason the local community is suffering. This is more than Waikiki!!! They are taking advantage and are committing fraud. Check in at 7pm and leaving in the morning. This is more than $20 and hour for this room. Do they even pay the staff that much?!?!?! The Hotels should be stopped!!!!! They are killing the community

Yelp
Needed a cheap place to stay in town instead of driving home drunk. Pagoda showed as the cheapest last minute rates. Likes: Decent cheap/lite hotel. Good location out of Waikīkī for locals who know the town eateries and bars (most of Keeaumoku is under construction now btw). Dislikes: Terrible parking situation -$25 per, day across the street in Ross or sketchy street metered parking. Outdated. closet was stuck. Thin pillows and sheets for blankets. Shower heads are short for me and unmoveable- I'm 5'8, so my 6'4 husband struggled lol. Thin walls- we heard our neighbors next to and above us often throughout the night. I feel we could have stayed at a resort for equal or cheaper than the total price (including hidden/additional fees) we paid for. My fault for panic booking last minute. As a kamaāina, Id keep looking for free parking and waived ammenity fees next time.

Yelp
You do get what you paid for. I agree with other reviews that the room smelled musty and I didn't feel completely clean stepping around barefoot. There was nothing visibly "dirty" but I did not feel the room/bathroom were as sparkly clean & sanitized as if you were staying at, say, a Holiday Inn. We were accidentally placed in the wrong room upon check-in and we caught the error later, actually after the vacation ended when I rechecked the photos online; I sent an email to the company 4/20/21 about a partial refund and received a prompt and helpful reply the next day. The staff were quite friendly upon check-in and quick to give us extra towels, bowls, plastic utensils to eat our breakfasts etc whenever we asked. Parking is across the street for $13/day at a shared garage with Ross Dress for Less (enter on Kanunu St NOT Rycroft St where Google Maps tells you to go). The attendants are chill and you just hand them your daily pass and ticket when you leave the garage. The hotel is kind of loud at night; you can hear children yelling & running around and the TV from the room next door is heard fairly clear; don't leave valuables in your car overnight because there are some folks lingering on the street. A couple of easygoing twenty-somethings like us don't need a five-star hotel, but if I had a do-over I would have shelled out for a bit more private and cleaner place in Waikiki. The biggest plus for us was the location; Walmart is 2 min walk and Target/Foodlands/Ala Moana is 10 min walk which is perfect to get some dinner without parking!

Yelp
Came for a funeral 5 nights 6 days, booked through Southwest Airlines Hotels. What a joke!! First absolutely NO parking!! The southwest website said $25 a night parking the lady upon check in tried to get us for $29 a night, nope made her honor our prepaid reservation! Reservations said king bed nope got 2 full size leaking faucets shower dirty running hot cold when it chose too. The elevator of course let you up when it wants too by key only, on one night literally went to the desk 5, yes, 5 times to reset our keys to get in our room. The desk clerk went up with us to make sure it worked finally. This hotel is old yes but if your taking reservations please fix your issues we weren't the only ones complaining. When we checked out the woman tried to get us for a convenience fee!! What the hell!! You didn't make anything convenient we parked on the damn street after paying for parking we cleaned our own bathroom

Yelp
As someone who is not picky about little details and who stays at this hotel almost every time I am in Oahu, I give this place a five-star rating. Why? Not because it's perfect or luxurious, but because it its comfortable, clean, and I cannot think of a real complaint I have had with the place yet. Pros: Clean and comfortable rooms, excellent staff - friendly and accommodating every time, location can't be beat - across from Walmart and walking distance to tons of restaurants and shops including Ala Moana Shopping Center, affordable compared to a lot of other places near Waikiki, pool is clean and you can usually find it pretty empty, there's an elevator, no issues with noise - especially if you keep your AC on, excellent buffet downstairs at their restaurant (as well as a la carte options), and every room has a mini-fridge and microwave which cannot be said about every hotel or motel I've stayed at. They will store your luggage for free if you are not ready to check in or have a late flight, and they'll let you check in early by an hour too for no extra charge if your room is ready. Cons: the approx. $200 deposit you pay at check-in if you don't have a credit card (although this seems to be pretty standard now at most places), no frills (if that is something you are seeking). Overall, I have never had a bad experience here yet and will continue to come back. I recommend this place to anyone who wants to save a little money, but still be in a clean safe spot and does not need any extra luxuries - close to everything you need.

Yelp
I'm about to check out and will never come back here again! The room is riddled with roaches and no housekeeping was provided. It is the worst hotel ever.

Joe B.

Yelp
Zero stars. Not connecting a call because you cannot verify the guest's name? Fine. Not even taking a note or checking with the guest? Ridiculous. Someone needs to teach that front desk dude some customer service priorities.

Hiromi M.

Yelp
I had to stay hotel because our shower was broken we had to get repair service done through the weekend. We chose Pagoda hotel. Always good service, Ohana service. Very old hotel but I love this hotel, same staffs and same service for many years. People are coming back to this hotel and restaurant because of their friendly Ohana service. Of course I will definitely come back for my next vacation/ staycation!!!

Yelp
I gave it 4 stars for the convenience and cleanliness of the hotel. Walking distance to Ala Moana Shopping Center, Walmart, Sam's Club, Ross, Like Like, Yogurstory,, and more The rooms have a mini fridge, microwave oven which is convenient for long stays. A sink and long counter with wall mirror in sleeping area that can be used for washing your dishes or an extra sink for brushing your teeth. There is a table and 2 chairs to sit comfortable for eating your meals. It's a very very old hotel as you can see signs of wear & tear such as the bathroom mirror that had black patches inside the mirror. Main thing the room was clean and presentable. You will also get a Voucher for the Buffet breakfast at the Pagoda Floating Restaurant from 7 am to 10 am for $10.95. And when you check into Yelp you will receive an orange plastic rice paddle! Enjoyable stay and yummy breakfast and a free gift!!

Yelp
You get what you paid for. Stayed here for a couple of hours due to a bad flight time just so we can get a nap and shower in before flying home. Front staff didn't even bat an eye or care when we checked out within 2 hrs. The room pictured in the official photos on Yelp are not true to what you actually get. Compare the lighting and post-processing on those photos with actual traveler pics. The rooms seem clean but smell musty and clearly dated with dim, fluorescent lighting. If you are clear about your expectations and that you're staying in an affordable hotel/motel at a convenient location with minimal frills this is the place for you. Otherwise if you have trouble with musty rooms, dated furniture and a more questionable neighborhood you may want to spend more to stay at a nicer place 5-10 mins down the road.

Yelp
The hotel is old event the renovation room on the higher floor that I paid for higher price but it is clean. They added other $26 fee on top of the hotel price event you booked from their site , it said for $5 breakfast and coffee in your room. Basically you need to pay for breakfast for $26 event you have it or not. Breakfast room is very busy , you need to wait for food for a while. yougurt breakfast is no yogurt and very sweet and not much fruit on it just cereal , I ended up order other breakfast item Which is ok.

Helen H.

Yelp
Short stay at the Pagoda Hotel, had their breakfast which was tasty and filling, for $5.00 per person with a credit voucher. Hoping they start serving lunch and dinner too, for hotel guests as well as general public!

Margie B.

Yelp
PARKING LOT WARNING: This review is a warning to guest parking in the lot adjacent to the hotel, facing Ross Stores. The parking lot is owned and run by PROPARK INC., NOT by Pagoda Hotel. If you should purchase a 2 hour ticket for the EVENING SPECIAL, you will receive a citation for "expired parking permit." and "obstructing traffic". We were told by a PROPARK employee that the sign doesn't belong to PROPARK and you will be ticketed. I had to take the 2 photos to prove that PROPARK is responsible to honor the EVENING SPECIAL because it's attaches to their sign. The Evening Special signage NEEDS to be removed, if it is not going to be honored.

Yelp
ROACHES! ROACHES ROACHES ROACHES EVERYWHERE ! I have never been into a hotel with bugs or roaches in my LIFE ! I saw one roach in the bathroom & I was like "eww okay just one" goes to sleep & my husband wakes me up , telling me there roaches all over next to the bed where I'm sleeping & table . I freaked out ! So I go downstairs & tell the man at the desk & he did not care , he seemed like he knew about roaches in the rooms, so he said he's gonna give me a "deluxe room with a kitchen" I go check it out , same size as my roach room with no discount..... I'm for sure checking out in the morning & going to Waikiki . I really wished I checked the reviews first Btw super annoying elevator , your going up & down for awhile then to your bedroom . The hallways are super loud , hotel is ghetto AF , & there was a car that got broken in next to my car..... BE CAREFUL , not worth it..

Yelp
Terrible customer service. Tried to cancel reservation and would not talk to me. Tried to cancel 2 weeks prior despite need a minimum of three days.
