"The once-industrial Kakaako neighborhood of Honolulu is starting to trend—and this botanical boutique is riding the wave! The lovely plant shop shares space with the Aussie cafe Arvo and the Hawai‘ian surf-lifestyle shop Milo. Pop in for a "flat white" coffee (microfoam over espresso) and a Vegemite-avocado toast, then browse the books, stationery, home goods and fresh local bouquets. Paiko has a terrific DIY bar for air-plant terrariums, complete with shells from Hawai‘I. Just make sure to review USDA regulations about what's allowed back to the mainland first! (For example, seed jewelry and most flower lei are fine; cactuses and plants in soil don't make the cut.)"

Wow wow wow. Endless thanks to Paiko, especially Maite. I was in a rough spot emotionally (and physically) and the kindness show here was unbelievable. The shop smells amazing - exactly the peace I needed. Each plant was beautiful and meticulously cared for. No matter what you get here it will be an incredible gift for someone you love! Thanks for an amazing shopping experience. 🤍

Love coming to this place to find gifts and plants for friends and family. The staff is extremely helpful . Thank you for helping me find the perfect gift!

Such a cute plant store! I loved it here. There are many tropical plant options to choose from. Paiko also has a cute potting section in the store where you can learn to pot your plants right.

I love this little flower boutique. It's a great idea in business to share space so that several small businesses can thrive. Paiko may be more expensive than the run of the mill florist, but I think the service and specialty warrants it in this case. To the best of my knowledge I'm told they source most of their flowers, if not all, from the Hawaiian islands- so they are local. And they will go out of their way to help you. They will also be honest with you. I wanted a particular leaf for my wedding cake and the staff told me where to find it in the wild if I wanted to forage instead of paying them $3 a stem. I appreciated that. They also went out of their way to find me a particular flower I wanted for my wedding (mink protea) and they delivered! These guys have fun workshops- I did one of the Haku ones. And they have neat artisan supplies for planting. I may not always buy my flower from here, but when I do I am always pleased with my purchase. Plus where else can you get a brew (coffee) and a bouquet for $15? Now that is an urban steal!

Well appointed florist and garden shop in a new location. Floral arrangements may be picked up or delivered. Good selection of pots and garden supplies.

Earthy shop selling all sorts of plants (many cacti) and pots. Love their sunglasses from the brand valley.

All the rage and over delivers!! I went in to get a housewarming gift. I was able to pick a plant and pot and put them together myself. Mariko was kind and helpful and I couldn’t have done it without her. She packed up my plant baby so it we super easy to transport. The store is beautiful and the plants are 👍👍.

Beautiful little shop with very unique and stunning flowers. The staff were so nice and helped us plant a little monsera as a gift!

Yelp
I visited Paiko for the first time since they moved. Finding the location was easy and there are a couple of dedicated stalls in the parking lot in the back for Paiko customers. The space is on the smaller side but there is a ton to see! I feel like I made at least three rounds around the shop during my visit cause I kept discovering new things I missed before. They have a selection of fresh cut flowers and greens (don't forget to check the fridge in addition to those out on display in the front). Some potted plants available of various sizes, lots of unique planters of various sizes, and cute plant-related gifts. There was a cute station of native seed packets too! There is a soil mix station if you want to make your own. It's on a smaller side though so probably best for smaller plants and/or terrariums. The staff were busy preparing for an event and the store was going to be closed for a portion of their typical business hours so if you're traveling from far away, it might not hurt to call ahead to confirm their hours for that day. Everyone was friendly though!

Yelp
My friends and I celebrated our amazing friend's bridal shower at Paiko with a kokedama workshop! I was a little afraid to get my hands dirty, and since I'm probably the worst person ever to take care of plants, I wasn't sure I was cut out for it but it was a lot of fun. They let us bring our own food to enjoy before the workshops started outside in the parklet. The owner came and walked us through the process and came around to help whenever we needed. We got to choose from a variety of plants and the whole process took about 15 - 20 minutes. We got to take home our kokedama in a little dish made by Melissa Bow, owner of Via Gelato, which i thought was super cool! Overall a really fun experience that I'd recommend to any friend group!

Yelp
Great store to browse in after having lunch. Lots of fun knickknacks, plants and some artwork. Very friendly staff. Would have loved a plant but hard when you live in the mainland. :) Decent prices and I did buy a couple small prints from one of my favorite artists from back when I lived on Oahu, Peggy Hopper. Great shopping center in downtown Honolulu.

Yelp
While waiting for my car's oil change, it's always been an errand of mine not to stop by at Paiko. I always tell myself to not buy something but every single time I ALWAYS COME HOME WITH FLOWERS hahaha. I couldn't help it. As someone who loves flowers and plants, you have no idea how much I love this place. It may be pricey for some but I think it's worth it. The staff are always friendly and cheerful. The store is neat and well organized. Parking may be hard on some days but this place is definitely worth your time. Aloha!

Yelp
We stopped into the shop today hoping to find some options for a friend who is currently grieving. We wanted something subtle with whites, greens, and yellows. The shop offered to make us a custom arrangement same day, only took 30 minutes. They did an amazing job honoring the situation and provided us a beautiful arrangement that wasn't too over the top. I will definitely be recommending this shop to my friends for their local floral needs.

Yelp
Had a great experience at Paiko with a friend the other day. I had always thought Paiko was a place for looking but not buying, and would enjoy window shopping here or glancing at the decor while waiting for my coffee back when Arvo was also in this space. However, my friend was looking for flowers for her dad's birthday, so we decided to check this place out. I was surprised to find that the custom arrangements were very accessible. We didn't know anything about plants and arrangements, and the florist was so helpful. She asked for our budget ($30-$40) and some preferences for types of flowers, colors, etc based on what they had in stock, and she said it would be no problem to create an arrangement within those parameters. She helped us pick out a vase as well and we sat in the cute parklet outside for 20 minutes while she completed the arrangement. The final product was so impressive and my friend's dad loved it. The process was so easy, pleasant, and accessible, and I'm looking forward to coming back!

Yelp
In the past two years, I'd say plant prices have definitely shot through the roof. The prices are high and certain plants are extremely hard to come by in person. I saw this place on Yelp and had to swing by! Lucky I did, they had a bunch of hoyas literally right in front of the door way. The best prices you'd ever see for a hoya macrophylla or latifolia...I'm not sure what it is just gotta wait for the blooms. I also got a hoya publicalyx and I'm hoping it's a Royal Hawaiian purple, but won't know until it blooms. The customer service is wonderful when I was there, I had talked to a guy about his mother's hoya kerri and he was extremely sweet. I was in Oahu for 6 months as my husband worked remote so I had accumulated some plants in that time. I carefully took off all the soil on the roots and wrapped it in moist paper towel put them in a ziplock, went through agricultural inspection with a breeze at the airport. If I had known it would be that easy to bring back the plants as a carry on, I would have brought a giant suitcase worth! Anyways, if you are a plant person check them out!

Yelp
Indecisive yup that's me in a nutshell, buuut when I see something I like I know it in a heartbeat and/or figure out how I'm going to have to make it work. I've been trying to slowly learning build my air plant society and figure out how it could work with my lifestyle, places like Paiko is so helpful with both tools and knowledge it's comforting to visit and get inspired. Today from the "Do it yourself" bar I picked up these beautiful green quartz-like rocks that I had to have and can't wait to figure out how to arrange it. They do have two bag sizes small is $7 and large is $14. Beautifully arranged or to get inspired they have so much for you to choose and decide it's so much fun, thank you!!

Yelp
I was around Kakaako area and found this place! They opened 11am. Today was the first day from stay at home order! Cafe was opened too! This place is amazing. All plants are fresh, pretty and stylish! I was looking for terra-cotta pots but there is a few. Maybe I was there too early so they were busy opening. There are a lot of coin parking around the shop. 4 stars because pots are little bit too pricy! But definitely I come back!!!

Yelp
This is THEE place to go! I looked into different florists for a bridal bouquet for my elopement and this one caught my eye because of all the different exotic flowers. Their website is so user friendly and the customer service was top notch. We had a sunrise ceremony so I picked up the flowers the afternoon before. They placed them in a nice vase/box for travel and it was so helpful to look perfect for the next morning. Mark was awesome when I showed up! So friendly and seemed genuinely excited for me! You can tell he enjoys what he does. So shout out to him! I also spoke with a female on the phone to confirm my flowers were ready for pick up and she was also very friendly! Even if you're just window shopping, check this place out! The store is so cute with so many eye catching flowers and plants.

Yelp
I have been here so many times I've lost count. The employees are always friendly. The place is always clean. And it is easy to see the employees genuinely love plants by how they care for the plants to the aesthetic of the interior to the type of plants and arrangements they produce. Yes, they are on the slightly more expensive side of the scale, but you will be supporting a small business thrive in an environment with big box stores. Ok, so those big box stores are helpful when doing landscaping projects, I'll give you that. But when you want to do some interior decorating that is pleasing on the eye, whether it is your home or office, support local! My only suggestion: I do wish the employees do enforce their maximum occupancy sign when the store is open. I did see them enforce once, but they are not always consistent.

Yelp
Went here for a haku lei workshop: $70 per person for 1.5 hour session Experience | Our instructor explained the different flowers and plants we were working with and also helped us if we got stuck. Just a really great experience overall, and would recommend if you are interested in learning how to make haku leis. Our haku leis lasted for a few days, just need to keep in the refrigerator. Yelp
Oh hey, just your favorite plant mom checking out another great plant shop in Honolulu! My family is full of green thumbs, I on the other hand have a half green, half brown thumb. I'm not the best at keeping plants alive but I definitely do try my best. **insert embarrassed emoji face** Lucky for me, Paiko has a wide selection of those hard to kill plants. Making it easy for the half brown, half green thumbs like me to keep something alive. Since the pandemic started, I've become more interested in learning more about plants (and responsibility). Paiko has made it easy to find cool looking plants, pots, vases, garden charms?, etc. They specialize in also providing some pretty low maintenance plants like air plants and succulents, in addition to their gorgeous variety of flowers to create stunning bouquets! On a more recent visit I was really drawn to their cozy corners full of pots, paintings, and hangings. They also have some books, apparel, and other accessories for sale as well. I purchased a Tree Hoo shirt and hat, as well as some cuttings to put in my house. This shop is a little on the pricier side, but I will admit that everything here is made of really great quality stuff and sometimes they bring in some hard to find plants and flowers. I've visited in the past and created a terrarium/succulent garden. Depending on what you get (sand, rocks, pot, decorations, etc.), your terrarium can cost $20+. Not a bad deal considering you get such a cute thing to display. If you're looking to add some color (mostly green) to your life, this place is a must visit!

Yelp
They seem to have gone out of business, and I'm not surprised. They were rude to their customers and, I'm told, bossy and annoying to their neighboring businesses.

Yelp
What a great concept and interactive store. In the heart of Kakaako, this is a great place to come if you are decorating your home, looking for a gift or wanting to create a gift; even a fun place to take a date for a DIY project. Paiko has plants, succulents, air plants, pottery and vessels for the plants, soil and stone fillers. Each item is ala cart and you put together your creation and pay at the counter. Super easy and fun. The staff is friendly and helpful if you don't know where to start. I came here with vessels I bought at Pier 1 want to create some Christmas presents and found the perfect components. Not sure exactly what I wanted, with a quick lesson and look around, I quickly got the hang of things. Parking is free for the first hour in the garage and you can get validation there after.

Yelp
Paiko is a cute little plant arrangement store that shares space with Arvo & another clothing boutique in Salt at Our Kakaako. I've browsed through the store on earlier occasions but decided to buy some plants while I was waiting for my take away food order from Arvo. They have a small variety of low maintenance plants and some beautiful pin cushion & king protea flowers. I ended up buying two plants (an air plant & mini anthurium) for my office that were on display in cute little pots. They were packed very nicely in a neat cardboard box for transport home. I ended up spending around $50 for 2 plants & 2 pots but I try to support the small business community. It's a good place to pick out a plant, rocks (for the plant base) and pots for a cute, thoughtful, green-friendly gift.

Yelp
NEVER SHOP HERE! Horrible customer service and conjures up unnecessary attitude and scenarios to get what they want.

Yelp
Stopped in to see what this cute little shop is all about. Saw some cool plants and "DIY" succulent plants. After seeing the set up and getting help from Mahina; we decided to give it a try! I've been wanting a new house plant... I had a baby bamboo plant before but these succulents were irresistible! After choosing our plants, we picked our pots and toppings. It was fun getting messy and doing this arts and crafts for our Saturday outing. lol It's as close as we were getting to nature! Plus, we'd be off to a Karaoke Birthday party shortly after! My Hubby had fun making his plant too! He chose nice rainbow pebble toppings. It turned out great! Got our 2 cute little house plants! Yay! Although, it did cost a pretty penny at $45 for 2 of them! Yikes! Then today, I met a girl at the Baby expo who had some cute succulent plants in a box on her booth and said she gets hers at the Kapolei nursery? Or some Kapolei farm... and it's $4 each. But not including the pots and toppings but good option for future purchases. All in all, it was fun and learned how to care for succulents.

Yelp
Checking out Salt. New mini mall, so everyone's excited to check it out. There's a parking structure right on the side. Here at Paiko's, the wifey and I made a his and hers succulent plant in a vase. Little things ran up to a whopping $45. Plant needs to be watered every 10-12 days. Right up my alley if you know what I mean, lol. Mahina clerk helped us along the way to set us up. She was helpful and we learned a lot about these plants. Mahalo, for the great experience.

Yelp
Pros: - Cute Shop - cute pots Cons: - poor customer service - overpriced plants - unfriendly employees Seriously won't be coming back here after getting dismissed during repeated visits by one of the shop gals. This is the type of shop that needs friendly employees...that is not the case here unfortunately. Save your money

Yelp
I just got two succulents and wanted a cuter planter to put them in. I brought my succulents in and the worker at Paiko was so helpful! I picked out my pots and she showed me how to re-pot the succulents and put soil around them. Then I decorated my little plants with toppings (sand and stones), it turned out cute! Much easier than I thought it would be and kind of a fun DIY little project. Thank you Paiko!!

Yelp
We love this place! We try to add natural greenery in the condo to liven things up! The staff is always sooo helpful! Helping us pick the right plant for our place. We have two of our favorites...stag horns and sadly, one broke apart. When we asked them for help; they were more than willing to repair it!

Yelp
4 stars because its a great ambiance. Great concept but overall cost is on the pricier side $$$$. Flower bar and succlent section very cute. Even the little knick knacks from local artists (cards, pots, jewelry, artsy etc) less than a mile away theres better selection and pricing.

Yelp
Love going to Paiko and just walking around the shop whenever I'm at Salt. The plants are lovely and the pots are so cute. When I have guests staying at my place, I love to get a small tropical bouquet to put in the guest room. Knocked down a star since its so darn expensive! I get it in a way since they are a small business but some of the pricings don't make sense to me. Had to get a job right away when moving to HNL because I was spending all of my money at Paiko! :P

Yelp
This plant store is in the coolest little outdoor hipster anti-mall which contrasts starkly with the more rundown Honolulu area. I almost missed it as I was on my way out and when I spotted it I knew I had to take my house plant loving girlfriend there. I've been with her to a few plant stores and nurseries back in Orange County but my god, this place blew them all out of the water. I'm sure the hawaii weather helps, but this place had mad cool vibes. Beautifully well-kept plants, a self-potting station, every kind of plant accessory, tool, and merchandise you can imagine. I'm glad I got a chance to see this amazing shop and you should check it out too if you're up in the house plant trends. You won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Yelp
Been seeing a lot of hype about this place especially with plants being the trend these days. Cute little spot! Nice set up, cute pots, etc. downside is price is kinda steep but that's not a huge deal for me. Spent some time in there and not once was greeted. Not even a hello from one of two gals working. I'm big on customer service. Prices aren't a huge deal for me. If I want something I'll drop the bills especially to support local businesses. A friendly greeting would've been nice. We are the aloha state after all . You could get better customer service and a friendly greeting with the same plants at Koolau Farmers or the smaller mom and pop shops in Waimanalo.

Yelp
Perfect place to find house plants/flowers and gorgeous gifts! Came here the day before Mother's Day & made my own arrangement for my Mama. Okayyy, I can't take all the credit. The gal working helped me out a great amount. Even with the craziness of Mother's Day, she took time to help me without feeling like I was being rushed. They also had ready-made arrangements, that were extravagant with probably 10-15 flowers/leaves, but I didn't want that much. 5 pieces were perfect. I also came in January to create my own potted succulent at their DIY terrarium bar. We brought our own pot, so we just added soil, succulents, and rocks. Nice selection of different rocks, colorful sand, crystals, etc to make your own creation. Good news: it's still alive!!!
google avatar

Nadia K.

Yelp
This store is just too cute! I thought my 8 year old would love to pot her own succulent at their DIY bar. You can use their soil and toppings such as stones, tumbled glass, and local shells. We ran short of time so we both picked out a succulent to take home. The employee was awesome at explaining to my daughter how to take care of her new succulent. Paiko also carries hand-crafted & locally sourced plant vessels, apothecary goods, stationary, and books. They offer both public and private hands-on workshops. Feeling thirsty? Inside Paiko you will find Brue Bar fulfilling all your coffee needs and free wifi. It's street parking or park at their new parking structure. Love this shop!
google avatar

Andrew D.

Yelp
In essence, Paiko is a florist selling ridiculously overpriced plants to people who know nothing about plants. They sell succulents, hardy potted plants, and cut flowers in cute ceramic pots. Most of their plants are supplied by other nurseries on-island, and you can find the same succulents at Lowe's, Times, or the local nurseries that supply Paiko for less than a quarter of the price. The ceramic pots are very nice, as few are mass-produced and many are unique, having been made by local artisans. You can either make your own arrangement or discuss flower arrangements with staff and order for events. Price aside, the establishment is clean and the staff are attentive and helpful. If you know nothing about plants and are willing to trade money for expertise and experience, this may be worth your while. If you are willing to spend a little extra time looking on the internet for local nurseries who can provide you the same plants and similar pots for a quarter of the cost, look elsewhere.

Yelp
I just attended Paiko's Succulent Garden Workshop and love, love, love the arrangement I brought home. It was a lot of fun putting it together and attending the class taught me how to care for succulents and how to pot them. When you pay for the class, you are paying for the materials for your arrangement. For the Succulent Garden Workshop, we got: decorative planter (We had 3 to choose from) 1 large succulent plant 2 small succulent plants plain rocks for the bottom of the pot soil decorative rocks The two owners, along with another coworker of theirs were really nice and did a great job of explaining how to care for them and how to pot the succulents. There were a few people running late to the class and they were nice enough to wait until the majority of the customers were there. During the workshop, they were readily available for help and to answer any questions that we had. They also said if we had any questions about plants that we currently have and their care to ask them. They were really helpful! I will definitely continue to shop at Paiko and am looking forward to attending another workshop. Succulents are fairly easy to care for; they're pretty low maintenance. I know a lot of people who love succulents but are afraid to buy them because they think they won't survive but the ladies at Paiko will give you all of the tips you need and again, succulents aren't very hard to care for. It's definitely worth a trip out to Kaka`ako to check them out-you'll love what they have to offer!

Yelp
I used to love going to Paiko. I loved the aesthetics, the plants, and the location...BUT for me customer service is EVERYTHING. As a shopper I like to be greeted. I understand if you're busy but if I'm the only customer in the store I would like a little acknowledgement. I've shopped here many times but I think I've had it. Whenever I would ask one of the workers about how to care for a plant I felt like I was bothering them. At first I thought it was just their personalities but I've witnessed on a couple of occasions when people they knew came in, their mood changed along with their willingness to help. Everything in general is a little overpriced. I say just save yourself some money and go to Mari's Urban Garden that just opened on Cooke Street. Customer service and quality of plants is so much better.

Yelp
Came to arvo one morning coincidentally because it is located inside of paiko and fell in love with the Swiss cheese plant. I loved the way that it looked! I decided to come back here later and purchased one and also some sand for my air plants. The staff was very helpful and I loved how knowledgeable they were! I live in a condo and I need plants that can survive indoors! I love that all their plants are meant for that specific reason! They have lots of air plants and succulents that you can create there. They also have pots for sale as well. Going in this store gives me so much inspiration to decorate my home with greenery! It has definitely made my house brighter with the plants! Will be back here to purchase more plants in the future to add to my collection!

Yelp
I've been following Paiko on Instagram and saw they were having a sale off their DIY succulents and since I was going to be in town, I figured I'd go and take a peek. I was pleasantly surprised how cute this shop was. They have ready made arrangements and plants for sale but they also have 2 DIY bars. One for terrarriums and succulent pots. The terrarrium vessels hold air plants. The bar has potting soil and rocks for the succulents and various sands, rocks, moss etc for the terrarriums. I believe there is a "bar fee" depending on how large your vessel is. I decided to make a small succulent pot. It was harder than it looked only because you had to commit to the vessel, commit to the plant, make sure they matched, pot it then commit to the rocks on top! Commitments, commitments! In all it was a really fun project and I hope to be back. This place would also be good for gifts or a group activity together. They also offer workshops. They are in the process of renovations right now but the work is off to the side so it's no problem at all. They will soon have a coffee shop within (Brue) and seating outside and inside the shop! Just hoping I can keep mine alive now!

Yelp
A fun way to spend an afternoon, Paiko is much more than your average florist. If you can even think of calling them one. Hmmm...it may be one of those things like referring to the person serving you a beverage on an airplane as a stewardess. Many modern, flight attendants now consider "stewardess" a derogatory term toward their profession, because they take their job more seriously than being there simply to serve beverages. Referring to Paiko as a florist, may seem derogatory as well, why? Because this shop is much more than your average florist. The botanical art in this shop manipulates, shapes, and ultimately reimagines nature. As you browse through the shop, you find yourself seeking out the biological potential of inter-mingling nature with man-made objects together, creating new environments. You may get lost in time, creating your own terrarium. Especially after you discover the endless possibilities of the varieties of natural succulents, that pair well with your choices of rocks, stones, soil choices and vases. Terrariums provide the ideal conditions for growing a wide variety of plants indoors, including succulents, orchids, ferns and mosses. If you feel you need assistance, Paiko offers classes in creating your own terrarium garden. It's fun to browse through and unleash the potential within you of creating artful displays showcasing these miniature environments under glass. These wonderful creations of botanical forms and landscapes contribute to making our world a creative and artistic place to live.

Yelp
First off I love this store and how cute it is! I would give 5 stars as far as how cute everything is and is displayed. The reason I'm giving it 2 stars is based on customer service I received about a month ago. I decided to write a review finally because every time I walk by there it annoys me on the service I received. About a month ago my bf and I were walking around on a Weekend and decided to walk into Paiko As I wanted to show my Bf this cute plant shop I was planning on purchasing a plant or a pot. The front door was open and we walk in. We walked around for a few mins looking at everything ( Arvo at the time was also open too, serving coffee) Then a women with her belongings and another girl that was with her said "I don't know if you guys know but we are actually closed" didn't tell us sorry or anything. They looked like they were going somewhere cause they had their personal belongings on them and seemed in a rush. I had a pot in my hand, and became annoyed because the front door was open and no one told us when we first walked in. Taking that this is a smaller business, wouldn't you want every customer to count? It left a bad taste in my mouth because of the way the women said it to me and my bf, and didn't apologize or even care to let us know they were closed nicely.

What's just as elusive as the MAC Selena line of cosmetics or Air Jordan 1 Black/Red? FIDDLE LEAF FIG TREES. You read that right! Nurseries on island don't stock them. Home Depot has them off-island and online but won't ship to Hawaii. Amazon...well, it's Amazon and I live in a time of "I want mine now." I've searched the entire island high and low, even in public and private properties for trees such as this only to find them unattainable. Enter PAIKO. To make a long story short - PAIKO can't seem to keep them in stock long enough. I called to put my name on a waiting list. I forgot I had my name on that list during a recent visit and attempted to put it on again only to find that my name was first on that list of fiddle leaf tree owners. So imagine my delight when Christine called earlier this week to tell me that my tree had come in! "Great!! I'll be in FIRST thing in the morning," I told her. I trek from Ewa Beach to town, circling to find street parking so I wouldn't have to carry my tree too far. Kismet. Parking found with time still on the meter. I run to PAIKO and what? CLOSED!! No way! this must be a mistake! There is someone inside the shop so I frantically wave at her to come to the door. It's Courtney (co-owner). "Yea we're closed for construction!....and no, I don't have your tree. We sold it to someone else," she said. At this point I'm getting frustrated and irritated because I made this trip all the way here for nothing. And because she is obviously taking out her frustration over the construction out on me and no longer listening to what I was saying. Come back tomorrow she said. "Listen, I don't have anything to sell you right now even if I wanted to," she patronizingly said and she closed the door and walked away from me. LISTEN: I'm NOT a two year old. I understand what you said. I was simply asking what happened and when is your next shipment. She didn't hear a word I said. RUDE! I was dejected and embarrassed in front of all the strangers around me. Enter Christine who basically said they made a mistake and sold it to someone else who said they were "Vicky." Basically she lied (according to PAIKO) to get my plant. As a consolation for the trip out - Christine gave me two protea blooms (beautiful although on it's last leg - which is ok since I'd just dry them out and use them for an arrangement). Promised to hold a plant for me the following day when they expect a delivery of trees. Most people would NOT come back after being embarrassed and belittled in front of strangers! I certainly wouldn't ever go back despite my love affair for small local businesses. BUT i want my tree! AND she did say they will hold one for me (again) for tomorrows shipment. I wasn't going to hold my breath! Later that day I get a call from Jessica/Jennifer (I apologize I'm terrible with names) stating that they have the trees and will extend a 15% discount since Courtney acknowledged that she was rude to me. Does it make it better? Slightly. Do I trust that they will have my said tree? Slightly. Way to make a comeback PAIKO! It would have been nice for Courtney to have apologized to me personally for that treatment. A win for both of us although I'm still sore from getting a verbal beating. Will I return? Maybe. And only if I'm in the area.

Yelp
If you know what you want, this store is great. If you want ANY customer service assistance, you're literally better off going to a Walmart Garden Center....... There were 3 employees inside while I was shopping and none of them acknowledged me for the entire 10-minutes. It wasn't until I went to check out and audibly placed my items on the counter that they looked up from their gossip session to ring me up. If you're paying a premium for items in the shop, the customer service should be more than mediocre.

Yelp
I had this establishment bookmarked for weeks and due to my work schedule, it was difficult to get there before they close! But yesterday, it worked out perfectly for my boyfriend and I. We made it to the location with 45 minutes to spare which was more than enough time to create our own little arrangement! We chose a glass bowl, with small rocks, two little tillandsia plants and small pieces of moss (which cost around $45). We were immediately greeted while we walked in but wasn't offered any aid at the workstation which is fine because there's a sign that tells you what to do and how much everything costs (but it still would be nice to have a person explain it to you). Besides tillandsias, they have succulents, locally grown flowers, and a small coffee shop in the corner. This place is a fun location to go with your significant other or girlfriends! This place would be a great florist to get small gifts (for any occasion) even though its costly, it adds more value because you create your own arrangement from scratch! I fell in love with Paiko the moment I walked in, and I will definitely will be back.

Yelp
Sure, you could give your significant other roses or daisies, but why would you do that when you can pick something new, unique, different, and beautiful?! The wonderful people at Paiko have a great selection of such cool flowers that I've never seen anywhere else. I stopped in to grab some flowers for my wife and I'm super glad I did. I saw that they have cool workshops and the place just had a really good vibe. You should stop by and check out the place. I went in on a whim and it's now my favorite flower shop!

Yelp
Where to begin!? 1st off two thumbs high up for the team at Paiko. I recently planned a private workshop for my wife's bday with her GFs. I initially inquired via email thru Yelp and Instantly I got a response from Jessica. She broke everything down for me, and explained the private workshop thoroughly. I loved the idea that besides a "get your hands dirty" workshop they could actually enjoy it with refreshments and pupus(which the customer provides themselves) and also add our own decorations for the event. I instantly knew this was the perfect small venue for my wife's bday. You have a variety of workshops to choose from, but initially went with the succulent because I wanted to keep it a surprise and knew my wife has been into those as of late. As the date neared, the surprise cover was blown, but was for the better, because now I realized my wife wanted to do a floral crown workshop. When I contacted Jessica & Cherish they were able to change it even though it was just 3 days out. My next option was I could choose between having the workshop during normal business hours or after. I opted for after, so the ladies would have the full privacy feel. Each time I went to the shop to put deposit and pay for balance, The staff were friendly and helpful, especially Cherish. Even though I could've have just did those over the phone, I wanted to see store and meet some of the people there. I received a courtesy reminder email from Jessica the day prior, and on the day of, my wife and her besties told me nothing but GREAT things about the experience and Courtney the workshop coordinator, whom I also think is the owner, not too sure. But my wife LOVED it!! they all had a GREAT & FUN time making their own floral crowns, while enjoying their "Girl Time" together. MAHALO!!! to all at Paiko who helped make this couple of hours memorable for my wife and friends., and with making it a VERY easy experience for me on setting this up. We will definitely be back to try another workshop!

Yelp
Love their variety of plant and planter selections. Price is on the higher end, but you get what you pay for. The planters are good quality and on trend. The displays are so eye candy, I want to buy everything when I'm in there. Staff is super friendly with offering assistance. They always wrap my purchase nicely.. Very cute shop.

Yelp
Paiko is an adorable shop within Arvo that sells flowers, plants, bouquets, vases, succulents, and other items surrounding plants and gardening. They have bouquets of local and tropical flowers already made to purchase. If you want to explore your creative side, you can also create your own! Their DIY succulent bar is such a great activity to do. You pick your succulent, vase, and any toppings or fillings you want. Again, it's a great way to get your creative side flowing!

Yelp
Had an awesome staff day here today making succulents. I learned A LOT about the different types and how you're not suppose to mix all of them together in one pot. Made sense as to why mines always dies Awesome experience and super helpful and friendly staff!

Yelp
Paiko is a little succulent oasis. Go here to purchase a ready made garden or terrarium, or create your own. Everything is so pretty, you'll want to take it all home. This place is great to pick up a work or house warming gift. Paiko also has workshops, tropical cut flowers, decorative pots, and plants for sale.

Yelp
Paiko is the most lovely little succulent/ cacti garden in the middle of Kakaako. Paiko's DIY succulent garden is such a great thing to do with a anyone really- a friend, your kids, your significant other, your parents- any one at any age! Plus, the staff here is so friendly and willing to help you out. They really let you do your thing and get creative as can be and are great to have small talk with! 1) choosing your plants- they have a cute selection outside of cacti/ succulents and air plants on the inside 2) choosing a vessel- they have a lot of great options ranging from clay pots to clear glass terrariums of various sizes 3) Filling in soil, planting and choosing toppings- the soil and toppings are like buffet style. You pay according to the size of your vessel and you just choose whatever you want Time flies by fast here. Hungry? Thirsty? No problem! Arvo sells drinks and food just a few steps away. I love it here :)

Yelp
ONE-LINE: [Workshop Review] So much fun! Amazing instructors, beautiful workspace. Absolutely in love with the finished product! KOKEDAMA: I like that it started later in the evening (630PM and ran for an hour) so there was enough time to get home, change your clothes into something you don't mind smudging dirt on, and then mosey around Salt while your instructor gets the materials ready. My Mom and I took the Kokedama workshop taught by Jessica--she was awesome! We had a really good time. Instructions were really clear and easy to follow, lots of cool information. I thought it was the perfect blend of instruction and independence. The workshop is held in that little workspace behind Paiko's cashier space. It can feel a bit close at times but none of us minded--there was enough workspace for everyone to maneuver comfortably (or spread out for some parts) and it was fun to talk-story with the group while we worked. PAIKO: The store itself is so beautiful--it's like walking through my Pinterest board in real-life. Lots of reclaimed wood (there's a succulent/air plant bar!), locally created pottery, geometric terrariums... The cost of plants and home goods can be a bit pricey but I like to remind myself that a good portion of their goods are locally sourced. My fave local non-plant goods are the Notted Nest macramé pieces and the adorable clay figures and plant holders by Antidee. They also carry some really beautiful jewelry from Catherine Weitzman. P.S. It's always fun to visit Paiko's shared-space neighbors, Milo Hawaii and Arvo Café. At night, for the workshop, we got lucky with street parking right on Auahi but parking in the structure is easy! Don't forget your validation. We ate dinner at Moku Kitchen after our workshop and got so many compliments on our kokedama!

Yelp
Paiko is an absolutely adorable flower shop located in Kaka'ako on Auahi Street. Paiko specializes in orchids and succulents and hand crafted locally made items. The succulent selection is extensive and reasonably priced. The orchid arrangements are made to specification daily. Paiko also offers classes and workshops for green thumb starters to gardening enthusiasts. They sell everything from potters, vases, instructional books, even jewelry and bags. The sales associates are attentive and very knowledgeable. Bonus to this already amazing boutique style store is the fact that Arvo (Australian Coffee Shop) is located within. If you are interested in succulents or just like to support small local businesses selling locally made items I suggest checking out Paiko.

Yelp
I grew up in a household where my grandparents and parents grew almost all of our produce. Lettuce? Check! Papayas? Check! Mountain Apples? Check! Green onions? Check! Avocados? Check! You get the gist. And although my family grows everything from orchids to lilikoi, I somehow cannot manage to keep anything alive! Roses? Dead. Lettuce? Dead. Orchids? Dead. Basil? Dead. Chives? Dead. Don't even get me started on pets. Oy. So when my friends suggested we visit Paiko, I'll admit I was a little hesitant. More things to add to my kill list I thought! But what is completely wonderful about Paiko is that not only do they have a beautiful assortment of cut flowers, but they have almost kill proof plants as well! They have lots of air plants and succulents, which require little water and almost no TLC at all! Now that's my kind of plant! (Photo: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/paiko-honolulu?select=oS0YFMlVjy1rsv53ajx2UQ#cV_l2LHR98p9-lXHuFn94Q) (Photo: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/paiko-honolulu?select=oS0YFMlVjy1rsv53ajx2UQ#XKQ-92C_icc5dqX8i5A5CA) (Photo: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/paiko-honolulu?select=oS0YFMlVjy1rsv53ajx2UQ#eWz-ggbGaTq74PBHYek5nw) The girls that own Paiko are really friendly and you can tell they're very passionate about their business. They'll instruct you on exactly how to take care of your plants so that you too can feel like a capable plant caretaker rather than a plant serial killer (points to self). On our last visit my friend Grant purchased a beautiful terrarium for Valentine's day (Photo: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/paiko-honolulu?select=oS0YFMlVjy1rsv53ajx2UQ#oS0YFMlVjy1rsv53ajx2UQ) It was so adorable! If you're trying to find an alternative to the standard dozen roses, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you pre-order a terrarium for your sweetheart. Not only does it require very little care, but it's something that can live on past the standard 5 days. The terrarium was about $60 but considering a dozen roses on Valentine's day can cost you $100+, I think it's quite the deal. They've got a nice big assortment of V-day options if you're looking for something out of the ordinary. Cut flowers and greens at Paiko range from $2.50-$7, and air plants/succulents run from $15-$60. (Photo: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/paiko-honolulu?select=oS0YFMlVjy1rsv53ajx2UQ#IGb36MTwwxrAVIDJG5SIWg)They've also got these wonderful hanging pots that are completely adorable if you're looking for something interesting to decorate your home or office. (Photo: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/paiko-honolulu?select=oS0YFMlVjy1rsv53ajx2UQ#IruMrLSr_XjTo0bDaWyggg) Located in Kaka'ako, right next door to Taste, Paiko is MUST VISIT shop for anyone looking to add a little green to their life.
