"Horseback Riding on the Beach Guanacaste is Costa Rican cowboy country, so it is only fitting to saddle up and gallop along a tropical beach with the wind in your hair. The area around Playa Conchal is full of stables and tour operators, but one of the best is Casaguas Horses Tours at the Painted Pony Guest Ranch outside of Tamarindo. Offering horseback riding lessons, themed tours, and friendly bilingual guides, Casaguas bills itself as a "complete equestrian center."

I came here first time years back. Since last year I come with my horse to ride a few days in the area. They have a great jumping arena you can use as their guest in the air-conditioned cabin and outside bathroom attached to your cabin. There is plenty of space for your trailer to turn. It is a short drive to Huaca a busy little local town you get all the supplies needed during your stay as well as some nice restaurants. It is a 15 min drive to the closest beach. Tamarindo Is a 30 min drive. Make sure you book ahead of time to have space. I highly recommend to stay here if you are looking into vacationing with your horse. Anemia Test is a must to stay here!

We stayed a week in painted ponies guest ranch, rode to different beautiful trails and learned Costa Rican cultures. Kay is a wonderful host, she is always thoughtful and welcoming . Esteban has a lot of passions for training horses and teaching, all the horses are very calm and responsive. We enjoyed our horse riding holidays, definitely highly recommended!

I'm taking English riding lessons here with Esteban. He is one of the best trainers I've had for this discipline. I've ridden two horses so far, Sky and Millie. You can tell that the horses are loved and well taken care of and are happy to work with you while you learn.

My husband and I stayed here with my brother and sister-in-law... favorite vacation we’ve ever had! Costa Rica is hands down a gorgeous place to visit (honestly I want to live there). But Kay is an amazing host! She helped us plan everything we wanted to do into our vacation, she coordinated all of it for us and got us the best deals! She’s knows the history of the area and taught us so much. She also happens to be a wonderful cook and made us some of the best food we’ve ever had! The ranch is beautiful, full of life, and the casitas are dreamy! I typically do not revisit vacation spots because I like exploring new places, but I cannot wait to go back to the Painted Pony Guest Ranch!

My boyfriend and I went on a horseback ride at Finca Casagua this past weekend and could not recommend it enough. The farm was beautiful and the horses were healthy and clearly very well taken care of. We rode through local villages, stopped for some delicious local chicken and chips, and had a great time getting to know Esteban. If you're in the area, definitely try to book a ride here - you won't regret it!

Had an awesome riding experience here! Owners Kay and Esteban were very personable and welcoming. It was clear that they were knowledgeable about their horses and take great care of them. We had a very relaxing ride through the beautiful Costa Rican countryside and enjoyed some great views with Esteban as our guide. Also rode through a couple of small towns and got a taste of how the local folks live. And our stop at the cantina in Esteban's home town for a cold Imperial beer was much welcomed! Would definitely ride at Painted Pony Ranch again !

We stopped by just to see if we could see the horses and Esteban was very friendly and helpful. Our group had 6 kids under 10 and he and his helper gladly showed us around and brought a pony in from the field so the kids could take a few laps. He was so nice to all of us and it was a great impromptu stop! Thanks for such friendly service and great patience with us and the kids!
