Pak Khlong Talat (Flower Market)

Amazing wholesale flower market south of Chinatown. We went early afternoon and there we still tons of open shops and flower bunches as far as the eyes could see. Don't forget to explore down the small alleys where there are even more! I ended up picking up two large bouquets (ended up being too many flowers for our vase but still very pretty) - only $7 USD.

One of the most beautiful, intriguing, and aromatic markets I’ve ever been too. It was cool to see not just the flower shops but also places where a lot of behind the scenes work happens such as flowers for major events, local hotels, and more. We didn’t even do a tour or anything here, just decided to walk through and was such an amazing experience. Definitely worth checking out.

Pak Khlong Talat [Flower] Market, Salam Chai, is rather different for sales merchandise items inside vs outside the market. For visitors, they will find that there are many flower and floret shops outside the market, especially walking down along the sidewalk. Inside the market, there are varieties of stores, including food stalls, butcher stores, vegetable, and all other varieties. For floret or flower shoppers outside, there are many types, including stores which design, make and sell flower and bouquet to worships and for ceremony. The visitors can see female Thailand employees who sit there patiently to compose and pack flowers, with occasional tree leave branch or even fruit, for religious items. If visitors just walk rapidly along the stores, then, they probably will not see the beauty and uniqueness of these stores. But if they walk slowly and enjoy the flower and bouquet style, design, and even price, there will be many interesting and curious issues for the tourists, including why many flowers are in light white color, and why flowers sometimes are mixed with yellow, etc.

Really worth exploring here for an hour. Some beautiful flowers in the shops and great to see an almost “behind the scenes” take on the flower markets. But grubby and traditional but nice to go back to basics. Would recommend adding into your visit in Bangkok.

Nice to go for a stroll. There are a lot of food stalls, restaurants and cafés around this area - all of them of highest quality. Best to come in the early morning hours, but there's action all around the clock.

The most colorful place in Bangkok! Even if you aren't buying flowers, Pak Khlong Talat (Flower Market) is worth a visit for the atmosphere alone. It's a great place to wander after dinner and see a more traditional side of the city. The marigolds and jasmine garlands are stunning. A true Bangkok icon!

If you love flowers, photography, or want to experience an authentic Bangkok market with great deals, Pak Khlong Talat is worth a visit. It’s a real working wholesale market, not just a tourist spot. You can find huge bunches of roses, orchids, lotus, marigolds, and other blooms for very low prices compared with florist shops in the city.

Really interesting place that is spread out over several blocks, and on both sides of the street. Lots of produce and sundries for sale, too. Many of the flower arrangements are intricately stitched together and are so ornate they look fake. The vendors aren’t very nice to foreigners but tourists are annoying, so I understand. This market is definitely worth a visit.
