Pakkhús Restaurant

Hands down the best restaurant we’ve been to on our trip to Iceland in May! It is pricey, but you won’t be sorry you went there. The atmosphere was very cozy. We did not make a reservation, but managed to get a table as it wasn’t very crowded. The service was really good 😊 Highly recommended!

The restaurant is situated in an old warehouse. The interior deco is rustic and cosy. Reached around 8.30pm and were informed that we will be put on the waiting list. The staff showed us to the waiting area downstairs and we managed to seat ourselves quite fast. Ordered drinks while waiting. Though the staff mentioned we need to wait about an hour, we were showed to our seats in around 40 mins. Service was fast and the staff were friendly. We ordered the oven grilled langoustine, creamy langoustine, cod and tuna steak. The ingredients were fresh and the food was delicious. The langoustine was easily peeled off the shell. Price is on the pricey side but worth to give it a try if budget is not a problem.

It's a popular restaurant located in a seaport town, so be prepared to wait in line for a table. You can get drinks in the bar downstairs while waiting for your table. The atmosphere is warm and lively, good for families with kids. All the seafood dishes are worth a try since they are so fresh.

I’m writing this review a year later because I still think about this meal. Ridiculously good! The salmon appetizer was amazing. I had the lobster for my main and my husband had the duck and pork - so delicious!!! We had the brownie for dessert and it was good, but not our favorite dessert ever. The hot chocolate and cappuccino are 10/10. Highly recommend this place and would definitely return the next time I’m in Iceland.

We were a table of 7 and walked in on what looked like a very busy night, (Good Friday). They initially estimated over an hour for a table, but we were able to get a drink downstairs at the bar and seated much sooner than that for our meal. The whipped cod was so delicious – light, airy, and full of flavour. All of our mains were great, no complaints whatsoever. Here are photos of the beef, fish, and vegetables pie. Our waitress was fantastic, she was so helpful, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening. They had a delicious orange wine that was a real treat. Definitely recommend Pakkhus!

Absolutely worth the wait for a table (they don’t take reservations). The food is really really good! Try the horse steak and of course the seafood. Oh, and don’t skip dessert 😜

We had a lovely dinner experience. Excellent food quality- big portions. We ate horse & lobster and caviar. Just to mention: no reservations- so first come first serve and a loooong waiting list with the opportunity to have a drink or take a walk (you’ll get this alarm kind of thing that starts vibrating when your table is ready)

We were v happy with our lunch here. Except for the burrata salad which was not to my taste, all the other dishes were excellent. My Cod was.very fresh and tasty. And so was the shrimp. Service was v good. The atmosphere of an old Icelandic wooden hall was also very nice. Would recommend fpr a meal The menu had a vegan option also.
