How Does it Cost to Travel New Zealand in 2025?

"I found groceries reasonably priced in New Zealand and used Pak'nSave as one of the cheaper supermarkets to save money; a week's groceries typically cost between 120–175 NZD." - Matthew Kepnes

Pak n Save is handy for a quick shop and I have never found it to be super busy even at the weekend. The produce is good and I like the size selection in the bakery section. It's got a cover over the car park so Great for not getting wet when packing

Beautiful Pak n Save in the heart of Petone. Good produce section. Everything you need and smack central to other Petone retail stores. The Pak gas station is easy access just across the roundabout HUGE car park which is shared with The Warehouse but the most beautiful thing is the gigantic timber roof that covers a large part of the car park area so you can stay dry.

PAK'nSAVE Lower Hutt hits the sweet spot for convenience and affordability, making it a popular choice for many in the area. Its strategic location, almost perfectly between Lower Hutt and Wellington, makes it incredibly convenient for commuters heading home from work. This alone is a huge draw for those looking to knock out their grocery shopping after a long day. While the selection might not be quite as extensive as you'd find at Woolworths, PAK'nSAVE Lower Hutt truly shines when it comes to value. It’s a great option if you’re looking to tackle your entire weekly shopping list without breaking the bank. Overall, the prices are noticeably lower than competitors like Woolworths, making it a clear winner for budget-conscious shoppers. The fresh produce section is particularly good, with consistently cheap vegetables and the occasional excellent deal. In fact, it's generally known to offer the lowest grocery prices in the area, which is a big plus. Beyond the price, the supermarket itself is well-maintained. Air conditioning provides a welcome respite on those hot Wellington summer days. Parking is ample and thankfully covered, which is a lifesaver in unpredictable weather. The added convenience of an on-site gas station and multiple EV chargers is also a major benefit for those needing to fuel up while shopping. Finally, the staff at PAK'nSAVE Lower Hutt are generally helpful and approachable, which contributes to a positive shopping experience. Overall: PAK'nSAVE Lower Hutt is a solid option for anyone seeking a convenient, affordable and generally pleasant grocery shopping experience. If you’re looking to stretch your grocery budget without sacrificing too much in terms of selection, this is the place to go. It’s ideal for tackling that big weekly shop, and the added conveniences of covered parking, a gas station, and EV chargers make it a very practical choice for many. While the selection might not be the widest, the unbeatable prices and reliable service make it a winner.

We were visiting Petone from Australia & decided to try this Pak n Save. We were impressed with the variety of produce available at great prices. Almost everything was cheaper than the other supermarket in town. Fresh produce was displayed well & staff were helpful at self checkout

What a great place to shop. The choices available were good, minus the one thing I wanted that was out of stock, and the staff encountered were friendly and willing to help with any enquiry. Having undercover parking at door level was also a nice surprise. I'll return if in the area and needing groceries.

Great Pak'nSave location with fresh items and tons of options. Snagged a ton of chocolate bars and snacks, as well as other pantry items. Tons of parking, and quick checkout process. 🛒

Pak n save Petone is a good grocery shopping center. Its apparently cheaper than other supermarkets and if you do monthly grocery from here, you save a good amount of money. There is plenty of parking outside and it also has Pak n Save fuel that is right outside. There are other markets nearby like Warehouse whic is really convenient for shopping.

After we completed our weekly grocery run, our 7 year old daughter was pushing the PaknSave cart back to our car within 25meters of the store when it stoped without warning and caused bleeding to her teeth and lips. We went back in the store and asked to speak woth a manager who could help her. Zero empathy, not even a single apology—all we got was why are you complaining so loudly and why are you here and managers alerting security to run us off. I showed them our $500 bill from minutes earlier and my daughter showed them her swollen lip, expecting nothing more than an apology pr a pack of ice. We had no choice but to leave, vowing never to return. 0 for customer service, 0 for empathy—cannot think of anything good about this place!
