We visited Pala'au state park whilst our visit to Molokai with my partner in May 2024. It was free to visit at that time, I don't know if that's still the case. There was ample parking as it's not busy, you may even have it to yourself at the time you visit, we only saw a few people. Your a short walk from both attractions, the views at the kalaupapa lookout are stunning looking towards the Kalaupapa peninsula where the leprosy colony stayed. You also can look towards the highest sea cliffs in the world past the peninsula. There is lots of information boards telling you the history of the colony and tell you about father Demian. There uesd to be a mule trail down to peninsula but I think its still closed and has been since covid and hasn't reopened as far as I know. The other attraction is the Phallic rock (the rock of fertility) which is a short walk through the forest. I highly recommend visiting Pala'au state park whilst your staying in Molokai. This park was small but very awesome. There were 2 small trails to an amazing view of the Kalaupapa peninsula and the phallic rock. I chose this as my camping ground for the trip and what an amazing choice. I had the whole place to myself with a bathroom and covered outdoor shower with excellent overall privacy and quietness. The temperatures are about 15° cooler here than near the beach. From what I understand, Jerry the park caretaker has done all this excellent work to make it beautiful. Check-in with him at his place just to the left before the park to get info on your camp reservation. Thanks Jerry!

The walk to the peninsula lookout is completely wheelchair accessible but the hike up to the rock is not. It is short and a little steep, totally worth it! Restrooms were really clean when I was here. Kalaupapa is gorgeous!

I very much enjoyed the trails here especially the lookout, it is quite an impressive drop in elevation from here. There is ample room for camping if you are so inclined. The trees here make a lot of noise in the wind, very pleasant.

Molokai is not only beautiful, but it has the full range of landscapes, from beach to mountains, from desert-like atmosphere to rain forest. The beaches are not only full of beautiful white sand, but lacking crowds of people! It is the most laidback of all of the islands, and probably has the most Hawaiians still living there. The people are so nice and friendly. There is so much history on such a small island. If you want a truly relaxing vacation, this is the spot!

Great views. A little bit of a walk to the rock.

At the gate, it says Permit Required and Trespassers will be prosecuted. Called the number listed on the gate and they said you had to be an invited guest to enter. The nearby lookout was pretty however.

About 10 degrees cooler than sea level. Great view. A couple of short walking trails. Covered picnic tables and clean washrooms. Good parking. Wide cement sidewalk to lookout. Accessable. Some birds for bird watchers.
