New Four Seasons Hotel to Open Next to Vatican City in 2025 - AFAR

"The Renaissance-era building that will house the Four Seasons is called Palazzo della Rovere, the Renaissance-era home to Domenico della Rovere, a noted cardinal from Italy’s northern Piedmont region. Today, the owners are the Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, a lay institution protected by the Holy See dating back to 1336, with 30,000 members in close to 40 countries. Fort Partners signed a 30-year lease with the order and brought in hospitality partner Four Seasons to run the hotel. The hotel is a three-minute walk to St. Peter’s Basilica and plans to have a restaurant in the large courtyard shaded by trees. The renovation will double as a restoration project of the crumbling building, which once housed the modest Hotel Columbus that shut in 2018. Fort Partners is footing the bill for the $58 million renovation, allowing the order to continue donating its member contributions to the Holy Land. The Italian architect behind the project is Fabrizio Casiraghi. The hotel will open in 2025, in time for the next Catholic Jubilee, with about 55 to 60 guest rooms." - Jennifer Flowers

If you love history and architecture, the Palazzo dei Penitenzieri is unforgettable. Built in the late 15th century for Cardinal Domenico della Rovere, this palace is a pure Renaissance gem just steps away from St. Peter’s Basilica. The façade is elegant and symmetrical, with that refined dignity typical of the period. Inside, you’ll find frescoed halls, grand staircases, and a beautiful courtyard that feels like a piece of Florence tucked into Rome. What struck me most was the sense of continuity — walking through the corridors, you can almost imagine the cardinals and nobles who once lived here. Even though part of it now serves as a hotel, the spirit of the Renaissance is everywhere. It’s less about modern luxury and more about the privilege of experiencing history firsthand. For anyone passionate about architecture, this palace is a hidden jewel worth discovering.

It is the biggest Church of the world. Amazing place. The church is very soothing and calm. A must visit place in Rome. The temperature will be a bit warm. "Be very careful with the pick pocket".

Waited 20 minutes for a menu, another 20 minutes to be ignored completely, then left for a different restaurant who cares about service.

Un po' austero all'esterno nasconde invece grande ricchezza all'interno. Se potete visitatelo. Utili info?
