Palace of the Kings of Majorca

An incredible structure that, as soon as I walked in, for some reason reminded me of the stable at the monastery in Game of Thrones! The “Jardins Enluminés” exhibition was stunning, and inside I felt such peace with the transitions between the seasons. From the top of the tower, you can gaze over all of Perpignan and imagine what it was like in ancient times…. what it meant to be a knight. I loved visiting the church and the King’s chambers. PS: The structure could use more care regarding dust cleaning along the stairs and rooms.

Palace of the Kings of Majorca, a great visit, the palace was well maintained, it felt totally authentic throughout. I climbed to the top of the tower and got an amazing view. There was a light show in one of the ground floor rooms. Outside the entrance, the pine trees were being protected from processionary caterpillars, which was also fascinating. Toilets good, entry price good.

A really well preserved palace, with grand walls surrounding it. Immediately as you walk up the stairs you are greeted with panoramic views of the orange tiled city of Perpignan. The tickets are very reasonably priced. You are able to walk around the courtyard in the centre, and around the whole perimeter of the palace, all areas are open. There are multiple signs describing the historical significance of each room.

A nice cultural visit that allows you to time travel to the past. It is a beautiful castle, the visit is worth the entrance fees. Kids under 12 are free. The only drawback is finding a parking spot. We came here twice from a different city and it was difficult to find a parking spot and it was on a weekday. Follow me for more hidden gems around the world.

Even without paying for a ticket you can walk all the way up and enjoy the courtyards and the stunning mountain views!

It’s both a very important ancient fortress and an art place with different exhibits dedicated to modern art. I would say that it’s worth it as you can know the historical of the place, enjoy a breathtaking view and walk around. Overall it feels a bit empty as some rooms have no exhibits but it’s definitely a must see place.

Use the directions from Google Maps not Apple Maps. It was a wonderful place to visit. Beautiful views of the city. History education. And a few bonus exhibits from artists. Well worth the 9 euros! Took us about two hours to go through.
