On May 2025, my wife and I spent several nights at this hotel. Our experience was not a pleasant one, and we do not recommend it. It is supposedly a four star hotel, but in my opinion, it barely makes it to a three star rank. ||The only good side of Palacio Carvajal Giron is its location. Right in the middle of the Old Town, close to many sights, restaurants, and the Main Square. But the bad aspects are numerous.||The room assigned to us was one of the most "depressing" we ever encountered. Small, with a bathroom sink/mirror built next to the bed, and used to separate the open shower stall. There was very little light in the room, with only two small high windows. All you could see was the sky, or the upper floors of some other building nearby.||Nevertheless we settled in the room, and doing that, I was unable to set up the safe box with our personal code. I called the front desk, someone came and was also unable to do it. Went back to the front office, and came back to inform me that the problem was that those boxes do not accept personal codes, I had to use a given cod, which, I was told it was the same for all the safes in the hotel. I must say that I never heard such a problem before.||We found the breakfast to be low quality, and not really appetizing. The breakfast room has fitted with the most uncomfortable chairs and tables I ever encountered. The floor is uneven, and not adequate for the furniture. ||On the morning of our second day, we had a problem with the shower fixtures. The hook holding the shower wand, came off the wall, and that made very difficult to shower. I must also add that the open design of the shower was inadequate, and water leaked out into the rest of the bathroom.||We asked for a room change and the administration graciously agreed to do it. That was a "lucky break" during our stay. The new room was larger, with a balcony leading to a garden, lots of daylight, even some nice tiles on the floor, but still with a bothersome open shower design.||I feel this hotel used the old palace spaces rather poorly, and resulted on a rather low three star lodging. ||I am unable to recommend Carvajal Giron. For sure the Parador nearby would have been much better.
