"Designed by the same Italian architect, Adamo Boari, who did Bellas Artes across the street, the central post office is a wild mix of architectural styles—Spanish Rococo, Venetian, Gothic Revival, Moorish, Neoclassical, Baroque, and Art Deco elements are all present here. The space has been in operation as a city post office since 1907. Inside, the translucent variety of stone called "chiluca"—used throughout the interior and staircase—is particularly appealing." - Scarlett Lindeman

Absolutely gorgeous building! There's a lovely, huge mosaic of the eagle eating a snake symbol made of stamps on the side. We ended up mailing a couple of post cards here as well and it was easy to buy stamps and send them on their way. Definitely worth a stop :)

Such an incredibly beautiful building! It's hard to believe it's a post office (which I think still functions as such). From one of the windows, you can get a glimpse of the Palacio de BellasArtes (see above) and while it's not on the same level of opulence, it gives it a good shot.Brass and marble assault the senses and down one side there is a somewhat irrelevant exhibition of some things vaguely connected with postal services. Enter and wallow in the extravagance of it all.

Visited at 10am on a Monday morning. Was a wonderful experience to see the interior. We recommend visiting the side exhibit.

The most gorgeous post office. Worth mailing a letter for an excuse to go in (even thing I did not need one)…

The building of the main postal office is spectacular, but the museum located inside is pretty small and underwhelming. Few pieces on display consist of some uniforms documents, photos, tools of the trade and stamps. Explanations are in Spanish, which does not help. Ok for a quick look but not worth too much time unless you speak fluent Spanish.

Feels like Hogwarts! Must-visit place in the heart of CDMX. Definitely recommend to choose a workday for visiting so it won't be so crowdy - it's completely free so during days off it can be quite packed

Gorgeous building still working as a post office. There is a little museum on the ground floor. You can visit for free and you can post your mail as well.

This is by far the most ornate post office I've ever been in. It harkens back to a time when the postal service was the life blood of society. Inside is a photographer's dream. It's hard to find a bad angle to capture Escher-like frames. The guards we spoke to were very nice and welcoming.
