Palácio Rio Negro

It is a very pretty building that was built by the former German rubber baron Karl Wademar Scholz during the rubber boom. It became the official residence of the governor of Amazonas and then a cultural center. Nowadays the area around it is not the best and visits to the site and back are maybe the best. It is one of the most well-known buildings in the city. Enjoy!

Well worth going to see what immense wealth buys. There are peaceful balconies on both floors with very comfortable seating, I stayed a long while

Old, beautiful and preserved place. It reminded me of old family houses with stories and covered terraces on each floor, children running from one side to the other and a calm, ventilated and welcoming atmosphere. I don't know what events marked this place, but its foundations seem to be solid, resisting time.

Free tour, you only need to sign in to the 'guest list' after entering the building (name, surname and country / city of origin). In the building there are several rooms with original furniture, some information about the history of Manaus governors, the history of the radio, a balcony with a possibility of rest and a garden. Sightseeing in the form of a walk, without intensive reading of information - up to 20 minutes. (Review from November 2022, but reappeared as new after removing some photos)

Such a beautiful place.

This palace, now fully converted into a free of charge museum, presents you right at the entrance a magnificent double side staircase. The chambers aren't filled with museum items but the well preserved and makes your mind to travel back to the glorious days with the palace was built. On the upper floor there is a porch with some couches with a view to the garden, all very bucolic.
