Palacio Salvo is an iconic landmark in Montevideo and a must-visit destination for anyone interested in exploring the rich history of the city. This historic building not only offers incredible architecture but also provides one of the best views of Montevideo from its rooftop. The experience of seeing the city from such a high vantage point is truly breathtaking. The building organizes guided tours during the day, each lasting around 45 minutes. Some tours are conducted in English, which is convenient for international visitors. However, tickets for these tours are only available in person, so you’ll need to show up to secure your spot. The tour takes you through the most significant floors of the building and ends with a visit to the rooftop, where the panoramic views are worth every moment. One of the highlights of the tour is the Tango Museum located inside Palacio Salvo. It's fascinating to delve into the history of tango music and its cultural significance in the region. The museum adds an extra layer of depth to the visit, making it both educational and entertaining. Overall, Palacio Salvo is a historical gem that combines stunning architecture, cultural enrichment, and spectacular views. It’s an experience that captures the essence of Montevideo and is highly recommended for history and culture enthusiasts alike.

Not accessible for wheelchairs! This building is really stunning - not only for its history and the one of the idea givers but also for its present-day use! Our two guides, Emily and Fausto were passionate and knowledgeable and applied most of the guiding skills I'm looking for in a guide. My compliments. They also answered questions and took good care of the participants. The ride in the historic elevator is a treat and the view from the roof is even more so. Watch out for tours in the evening. There are special ones with a drink for sunset...

Could not stop admiring the intricacy attention to detail architecture, stunning Gothic ceilings arcade, and the strength in the building with surrounding quarts clad stone’s pillar as usual with these kind of buildings they’re from bygone era of wealth and prosperity that has been sucked out of this country and most of the South American countries in the past 40 years now full of graffitis, Pot Heads tattoo, clad drifters what a shame. I wish the building Can Speak and defend itself.

This is a highly unique design and a really ornate building, both outside and in. Certainly one of the feature-points of Montevideo and one that I have not seen anywhere else. Its both architecturally unique and a really beautiful design. Worth a visit.

Interesting tourist attraction, a must-see place near the president's residence and office. The square could have had more shopping places but even so, it's ok.

This building has a fascinating exterior with the top most levels of the tower having a balustrade of sorts that is wider than the tower, or side turrets might be a better description. We did not enter as we had no time on out tour.

The tours in English are at 11:30 am and $12. Only go if the sky is clear as the best part of the tour are the views. Otherwise I wouldn’t say it’s worth it. It’s a tour of an apartment building. (Palacio tranco is better and free.)

Beautiful! Tours are offered every hour on the hour in Spanish and in English. The tour comes with a tour of the palace and entrance into the museum of tango
