How to Plan a Trip to Málaga, Spain

"Have one more regal stay at the Palacio Solecio, an 18th-century palace-turned-hotel. The hotel is as glamorous as you'd imagine, with four-poster beds, floor-to-ceiling windows and doors that open to spacious patios, and deep soaking tubs in the bathrooms. The hotel's central location makes for easy access to some of the city's most sought-after sites, including Santiago Church, just a few feet away." - Travel + Leisure Editors

In Málaga, the Past—and Picasso—Shape Its Culturally-Rich Present

"This 18th-century palace... Now Moorish touches abound, from the patterned headboards in the 68 rooms to the splendid internal courtyard with its porticoed patio, chequered floor, and esparto grass blinds."

Comfortable bed with variety of pillow types, spacious room, always helpful & pleasant staff and sometimes funny. Yummy breakfast. Small rooftop pool area. Not always enough room there though. Great location. A unique hotel with nice mix of modern amenities and history.|We stayed for 5 nights and would go back in a heartbeat. |Only minor feedback was that I had looked forward to breakfast in the beautiful main restaurant but I was told twice that my free breakfast was on the rooftop terrace. So felt turned away as if I was not allowed to eat in the restaurant. I was not offered to eat breakfast in the restaurant until I specifically asked and it turns out that it was a buffet and there was an up charge. But if I hadn’t asked, I wouldn’t have had the option of paying the extra €10 for the buffet. Both breakfasts were delicious but buffet was not really worth the extra $€

Absolutely amazing stay at this beautiful hotel. Staff were wonderful, from the check in team to the waiting staff at the roof top terrace. Our room in the main Palacio part of the hotel was cool and quiet, perfect for a good night's sleep. Breakfast was great, lots of choice of hot and cold items. The hotel is within walking distance of all the main sights and the beach. I would highly recommend and hope to return one day!

Lovely hotel - we have stayed here quite a few times. We love room 236 - very quiet and no road noise- happy to lose views for peaceful nights. Staff are super attentive and customer focused. Centrally located so handy for all amenities and restaurants. We enjoy a glass of wine at the end of our day. Very reasonably priced and lovely little bar. Hotel is clean and well maintained. What's not to like? Thanks and we'll be back|

This is a superb hotel right in the heart of Málaga. We stayed here for two nights and had an excellent time. You are right next to the main tourist attractions and good restaurants. The room itself was very well furnished, particularly the bathroom. The staff were all extremely helpful who accommodated our requests. Breakfast in the morning was great and we would recommend the restaurant for an evening meal. ||We had a wonderful time one afternoon lying by the pool and having cocktails from the rooftop bar. ||Overall we couldn’t rate the hotel highly enough and would thoroughly recommend staying here.

Perfect location in the historic center. Right around the corner from the Picasso Museum and literally 100's of restaurants within a 2-3 minute walk. The staff is amazing, from the moment we arrived and were greeted with a warm welcome, to when we unfortunately departed, everyone we interacted with couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Yes the rooftop pool is small, but hey you're in Malaga take a 10 minute walk to the beach and spend the day on the sand. It was nice to return to the hotel for a quick refreshing dip and enjoy a cocktail to reflect upon your day in this vibrant city. We are already planning to return next year.

We stayed at Palacio Solecio in the heart of Old Town Málaga, and it was absolutely incredible from the moment we arrived. The location is unbeatable—literally steps from all the major attractions, shops, and restaurants. Being centrally located made exploring the city effortless. Our room was clean, spacious, and beautifully designed, and we really appreciated the rooftop patio with a pool and bar, as well as the small gym—a thoughtful bonus for a city hotel. What truly set this hotel apart was the exceptional service. We had a chaotic 48 hours due to our luggage being lost, and I cannot say enough good things about Guadalupe at reception. She went above and beyond to help us track down our luggage, making calls, following up, and advocating on our behalf. Her kindness, patience, and genuine care turned what could have been a disaster into a manageable and even comforting experience. Hats off to you, Guadalupe (forgive me if I misspelled her name)! We’re so grateful to the team at Palacio Solecio and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Málaga.

Every expectation exceeded. Carlos at the front desk was helpful even days before we arrived arranging transportation. Carmen at the front desk took special care of us, giving suggestions, recommendations & advice that was specifically tailored to our wants, needs & preferences and making dinner reservations for the week at various fine dining establishments, and securing tickets for us at the Picasso Museum for later in the week. Simply put, she is amazing. The entire staff from the frontvdesk & bellman to the concierge, the waiters in the hotel restaurant, and housekeeping were consummate professionals, showed us every courtesy, and provided an experience second to none. Hotel Polacio Solecio comes with my highest regards and recommendation...and its ocation in Malaga Centro is perfect.

Super luxury historic hotel right in the heart of Malaga’s historic centre. The Cathedral and Picasso Museum are just a few minutes walk. We had a deluxe room in the Solecio annexe, which was extremely comfortable and well appointed. No view from the room but the trade off means it’s completely quiet from street noise. Staff on every level were efficient and welcoming. The roof top bar and restaurant were cute but small and therefore busy. There are so many great restaurants in the area so we didn’t eat in the hotel. Overall, highly recommended.
