I'll admit it, we arrived in São Paulo expecting chaos. The headlines warned us, the travel blogs made it sound like an obstacle course of traffic, crime stats, and relentless noise. And yet, through the concrete sprawl, we found Palácio Tangará, this improbable five-star resort tucked into a pocket of jungle.
Inside, it's another world. Lush greenery just outside every window. Service feels telepathic, no overbearing smiles, just perfectly timed gestures, the way good hospitality should be.
You don't need to leave this place. Multiple restaurants, each with its own point of view. A bar where you can sip caipirinhas and pretend you live here. A pool with service so good you might actually forget there's an NFL game to get to.
We did venture out with pre-arranged tours and private drivers, but I could have easily spent the whole trip inside the gates, alternating between the pool, the bar, and the dining room, pretending that this was our jungle estate.
South American hotels know how to do service in a way that doesn't feel like theater. It's warm without trying to hard, elegant without being stiff. Palácio Tangará stands with the best of them, not just in São Paulo, not just in Brazil, but anywhere.
If you're traveling for something as absurdly American as an NFL game on another continent, you want a place that reminds you you're somewhere special. Palácio Tangará is that place, a retreat, a refuge, a deep breath in the middle of one of the world's busiest cities.
