Our experience at Palais Riad Calipau was extremely disappointing, largely due to how issues were handled by management.|We had three rooms booked. Two of the three had significant problems: one had a persistent smell of smoke, and another was dark and windowless, making it uncomfortable to stay in. We raised these concerns promptly and calmly.||At that point - rather than addressing the issues - management charged our card directly. Following this, the owner was abusive during a phone call, then escalated matters further by sending hostile and accusatory WhatsApp messages. These included unfounded allegations that we intended to leave without paying, which is entirely untrue.||Only after this series of events were we told - via staff - that the owner wanted us to cancel our Booking.com reservation in exchange for €100 in cash, while still allowing us to stay the night. This was communicated with urgency and felt inappropriate and pressurising. We declined.||We checked out properly, paid local taxes, and left a tip for staff.||While the riad itself may look appealing in photographs, the standard of management, communication, and guest care was unacceptable. A hospitality business should resolve problems professionally and respectfully; sadly, that was not our experience here.||I would not recommend staying and suggest travellers proceed with caution.
