A great museum in the center of Lausanne with free admission. There are permanent exhibits in archeology, history, geology, paleontology, and taxidermy/biology. The mineral room in the geology exhibit was a standout for me -- some exceptional specimens and very well displayed. Stop by and enjoy the exhibits as well as the beautiful architecture of the palace.

Very interesting expositions - especially the ones with minerals and precious stones 💎 The museum have free entry until Wednesday (you’ll need to check in advance the schedule). The only minus is that everything is in French and no English translation is available

This museum is free on the 1st Saturday of each month. I visited and liked the variety it offers. It’s a 4 museum in 1. Each area for a different one. In overall is great to spend some time seeing good taxidermy examples from beautiful birds to, mammals. There’s a great massive white shark that will surprise you. A lot of skeletons of different categories, butterflies and so on. On the other museums on the building they offer an interesting approach on the archeological history and on the cultural aspect of Lausanne. You can see some elements from Napoleon, some heritage pieces, coins, sculptures, etc. you can see great examples of stones, cristals, and tons of specimens of the geology world. You can easily spend 2 or 3 hours roaming around.

A free and nice museum in the center of Lausanne. The geology and the natural science sections are quite interesting. It's a perfect place to stop by if it rains.

Very well maintained museum with a lot of fancy stuff. Very interesting and entry was free. Would totally go again. They have clean toilets and some places where you can sit down and eat and drink. When we went there was also random art between the exhibits which was kinda funny. Very beautiful museum!

The Palais de Rumine is an important cultural and historical building in Lausanne, Switzerland. It was built in the late 19th century with a donation from the Swiss industrialist Gabriel de Rumine. This magnificent neoclassical building was designed by the famous architect Gaspard André. The Palais de Rumine is home to various cultural and scientific institutions. Its museums include the Cantonal Museum of Fine Arts, the Cantonal Museum of Archaeology and History, the Cantonal Money Museum, the Cantonal Geology Museum and part of the Swiss Federal Polytechnic School (EPFL). The exterior of the building is an important element of the city's skyline, with its striking neoclassical details and majestic facade. The interiors are remarkable for their rich history and works of art. The Palais de Rumine is not only the center of cultural life in Lausanne, but also an important contribution to Switzerland's cultural heritage.
