The Location is perfect. Around there are bars, wineries , gasthauses. I would say no and negative things about the location. We haven’t had time to have breakfast but I am sure it would be tasty as well. Additionally the bar in the hotel had also very tasty drinks. Rooms are iconic and very Austrian style love it. Sleeping quality went well because the bed quality was good too. We would definitively stay once more. Price performance was also really good.

What a fabulous hotel. We loved the atrium with all the plants and the corridors to the rooms. Our room was huge with a big writing desk and other period furniture. Although it has all the mod cons you still feel like a traveller in times gone by. The staff are all lovely, friendly people. We just loved staying here.

I was nervous about booking this hotel because the reviews were a little mixed but we absolutely loved it! ||We stayed in a superior double (105) and the space was lovely and super clean. You won’t get a ton of flourishes beyond the grand bones of the room (the wardrobe still had an ikea sticker on it) but how can you complain with those jaw dropping high ceilings??||The staff was FANTASTIC. I am an English only speaker (US) and was initially embarrassed that I couldn’t communicate in German. EVERY staff member made feel so comfortable. I emailed the day before arrival asking for advice and help booking a dinner reservation for the evening of our arrival. I gave our parameters (dress code, cuisine, etc) and I immediately received a response with 3 suggestions. I chose one and they booked it for me! Flawless! ||We arrived around 10:30am and knew check in was at 3pm. They stored our luggage, gave suggestions on what to visit in Graz with directions and then had our room finished by 1pm. After a long day of travel, I cannot begin to explain how appreciative we were for this! On our check out date- they arranged our taxi back to the airport for us. Check out took about 10 seamless seconds. ||The breakfast was enormous with a HUGE selection of meats, cheeses, eggs, bacon, sausages, yogurts, cereals, 5-6 different (DELICIOUS) breads, pastries, condiments. There were 4-5 different juice selections, 3 types of water (sparking water lovers- REJOICE!). The tea selection was beautiful- 9 different types and the coffee and espresso were fantastic. ||They don’t offer a dinner service and this makes sense- Graz has 100s of restaurants within walking distance. ||For anyone visiting Graz or staying in Graz for The F1 race like us, I highly recommend this hotel. ||The management of the staff should be very proud of their team as every single staff member made us feel comfortable, and at home- especially important for a non native speaker visiting Europe from the US. ||Well done and thank you! ||Erin and Matt Hayes

The location of this characterful hotel is excellent. We arrived by taxi so didn't have the parking issues mentioned by some. The entrance to the hotel is very smart and staff helpful. There is a bar which had a great relaxed atmosphere and expert cocktail making as well as a wide selection of wines and spirits. ||These is no evening dinner service but the hotel is surrounded by good restaurants at varying budgets. ||The let down was with he standard of the room. Outside are photos of what we might expect but this bore not resemblance to the reality (room 326). Whilst a good size, everything was in need of improved. The room needed painted and curtains renewed. Chairs both had torn arms and towels were far from fluffy. However, the hotel was very good value for its location. Just need to spruce up the rooms as the space has lots to offer.

I Love this hotel!!! It’s my second time here in a month celebrating my “four year smoke free” anniversary. Perfect location, spotless, smiley staff, Austrian aesthetics, great breakfast, will certainly come back soon!

Lovely hotel in a historic setting. Pity there’s no slippers provided. We spent over half hour trying to find the parking lot only to find the it’s just located by driving into the K&O shopping centre next to the hotel. Beats the heck out of following the hotel issued map.

Our one-night stay in Graz was a delightful experience. We arrived early and were pleased to find that the hotel could accommodate us by securely storing our luggage while we explored the city. The staff were exceptionally friendly, professional, and attentive, ensuring a warm welcome and a seamless check-in process. The room, though compact, was impeccably clean and thoughtfully designed to maximize comfort and functionality. The bed was exceedingly comfortable, allowing us to enjoy a restful night’s sleep after a day of sightseeing. The following morning, we were treated to a delicious breakfast, featuring a variety of fresh and flavorful options that provided the perfect start to another day of exploring Graz’s vibrant attractions. Overall, the Erzherzog Johann exceeded our expectations in both service and comfort. We would not hesitate to choose this accommodation again for future visits to Graz.

I stayed here for a night on Christmas Eve, and while the location is unbeatable, unfortunately, that's where the positives end. While the hotel has made an effort to preserve its historic charm, a bit more attention to comfort is needed. The staff, however, were excellent and very helpful. Unfortunately, the rooms are in need of a makeover – the beds were uncomfortable, and the bathroom could use some improvements. The breakfast was mediocre at best – honestly, McDonald's offers better options.
