Walking through the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh feels like stepping into living history. Built in the 1860s and still home to Cambodia’s king, the palace complex includes more than twenty beautifully designed buildings arranged around open courtyards and gardens. Every structure has its own purpose, and together they create a space that feels both grand and surprisingly peaceful.
The highlight for many visitors is the famous Silver Pagoda. Its floor is made from more than 5,000 solid silver tiles, each weighing around one kilogram. Only parts of the floor are visible today, but knowing what lies beneath your feet makes the experience unforgettable.
Surrounding it all are manicured gardens filled with palms, flowering trees, and shaded paths — a quiet contrast to the city just outside the gates. Elegant, serene, and full of history, this is one of Phnom Penh’s most memorable places to explore.
