We had an extended stay at Palanquinn in the loft and really enjoyed it. The staff was exceptional and friendly, helping us with many things. The street is a bit noisy during the day but is quiet at night. There are many great eating places close by, a grocery store, and not far from Gurney Drive. We preferred to stay here rather than in Georgetown as it's close to Gurney and just not as congested at in Georgetown. The bus is easy and cheap to get into town. Internet was a bit slow but I think that has to do more with the wiring to the buildings as I have found this to be in case in some areas. Very comfy bed and awesome shower in the loft.

We stayed in the downstairs Terrace. Spacious bedroom and spacious bathroom, high ceilings and great character. There was even a small sitting area outside where you could enjoy a coffee and the heritage nature of the street (all similar 2-storey character houses). Quiet street, especially at night.||When we arrived Jennifer told us about the great eating spots within waking distance of the accommodation. She was right – we sampled some wonderful local food. The accommodation is also within about 10 minutes' walk of 2 big shopping malls at Gurney.||This place is good value for money.

Lovely homestay in an cozy environment. Hosts, kelvin and his wife were very hospitable and friendly. Rooms were well kept with a nostalgic feel with attention paid to the decorations. Stayed in the loft suite, with a living room to chill (sofa bed and lounge-couch).||Location is 40 mins walk / 15 mins taxi from Georgetown and 20mins walk from Gurney plaza, paragon and gurney drive (hawker food).

We were surprised by how lovely this place was. Used it only as a stop off before flying back and wish we had stayed longer. It was delightful to stay in a local style house after seeing so many throughout our stay as opposed to a modern hotel or hostel. It was simple and clean but beautiful and had everything we needed. The hosts even helped us organize a taxi for the early morning flight.

Stayed in terrace suite 39 with 2 small kids. Room was spacious with an outside terrace to have bfast whilst watching passerbies. Bangkok Lane itself is a row of full heritage houses with 2 (halal) kopitiams at the end. Our room , plus the street and the easily available kopitiam food made our whole stay have an authentic heritage feel.||||Really liked the location, famous Gurney Drive is just a 10 min walk away, Georgetown a 15 min drive (or a hop on tourist bus away) and Penang Hill a 20 min drive.||||The staff was friendly and very helpful. Especially the owner. We had some car issues and he let us use the room for longer than we had originally booked for. And no matter where in Penang we were, his help was just a phone call away.||||Had a pleasant blessed stay in Penang and Palanquinn Heritage suite.

Located on a heritage street just out of the bustle of Georgetown. Close to markets, street food, shopping and transport just around the corner, Palanquinn was an excellent place to rest and recover from visiting all the sights to see in Penang. Rooms were comfortable and spacious with excellent AC and all you need. Special mention to Jennifer and Kelvyn for their excellent advice on where to eat and what buses to catch - it was appreciated. When you visit, drop into the American BBQ restaurant down the road run by a lovely young couple.

Old world feel with modern amenities -- air-conditioning, hot water shower, fluffy duvets and towels, satellite TV and DVD, washing machine, microwave, refrigerator, and some novels to browse. Across the road from Bangkok Road Mee Goreng (not recommended). 5 minutes walk to 7 Eleven and police station. No sound-proofing though so pray that your neighbours are quiet! Stairs are also quite steep, something to keep in mind if traveling with older folks and best to request for ground floor unit. Very easy to deal with the management.

Well-maintained old property. Spacious with 2 rooms. Only master bedroom comes with bathroom. Another room has TV and balcony. Both rooms are located on the first floor, and access is only from wooden stair. Not suitable for wheelchair. Drinking water is given unlimited. The only missing point is that mosquito may get into the bedroom from bathroom. Breakfast is not provided, but several small restaurants are of walking distance.
