"No visit to Ambergris Caye is complete without an afternoon at the Palapa Bar. Situated at the end of a dock surrounded by turquoise waters and cool breezes, Palapa Barattracts a mix of locals, travelers, and some of the coolest bartenders on the island. On a warm day, eschew the barstools and opt instead to floatin inner tubesbesidethe dock; you can even have cold buckets of Belize ’s Belikin beers lowered down to you. In addition to beer and standard cocktails, funcreations like Scotty’s Palapa Punch (three different types of rum, triple sec, mango, pineapple, and a squeeze of lime) offer some island-inspired refreshment. Upinthe palapa , recommended items fromthe menu include sausage dip, pulled pork sandwiches, andthe immense half-pound burger.Palapa Bar is 1.5 miles north of town and easily reached by golf cart, taxi, bicycle, or water taxi, which drops you right off at the dock."

This is a super cool location with a great vibe! The food and drinks are very tasty, and everything is reasonably priced. The service was good, and everyone was very friendly and attentive! As you walk in, you are greeted by a thatched-roof building with sea birds flying around waiting for their catch of the day. The back side of the pier has outdoor seating, lounge chairs, and even inner tubes in which you can float and have your cocktails!

WHAT'S THERE?- wooden boardwalk out to a thatched roof bar with light up palm trees, large wooden structure bar area with views out to sea, decking area with laid back chairs, steps down into the sea with rubber rings attached to string. They have happy hour and live music. Good atmosphere and relatively busy. Live music was average at best.
TOP TIP- go at happy hour - 4BZD for rum and mixer. Not a place for sunset as it's east facing.

This is a fun place to hang out and has a cool vibe. We came here 4 different times during our week-long stay in San Pedro. Drinks and food were great, live music was great, but the service was really lacking. To be fair, I don't think it's the servers fault. It seemed there were too few servers for customers. One time we showed up, we sat down and after 30 minutes of no one taking our order, we just left. The other 3 times we did order, it took a very long time to get our bill, and even longer for someone to process it.
That being said, the drinks and food are really good. I love being able to sit at the edge and look out into the water. Fun environment for sure!

Fun bar right on the water serving drinks and food with some live entertainment. Enjoyed their fajitas and other food
They have a beautiful pier with a recreational swim area and at night, much marine life is drawn to the lights.
They have a happy hour from 4-6, but these mainly constitute their rum drinks.

Fun, chill bar & grill OVER the water in San Pedro. Servers were super friendly - ask them about the “shot pole”. They encouraged us to write on the tables. There was live music while we were there. And then we went for a swim off their dock and floated on tubes for a while.

Fun bar over the water with a fun place to float if you want to cool off. They even have a zip line to deliver and hang a bucket of beer over you while you float. Genius!

We came to Palapa many times during our short stay in San Pedro. It was an amazing place to swim, enjoy live music, watch the sunset, and meet new friends. My favorite thing about this bar was that at night you could watch the stingrays and Tarpon swim around the dock. It was a very cool experience!

pulled up with the crew for dinner and the vibes were immaculate 😩✨ university banners on the ceiling, walls covered in stickers and island signs—whole spot giving good energy 🔥🌴 then, live music 6-9pm?? ABSOLUTE VIBES. it’s a bar, so the music had everyone lit all night 🎸🍻 BUT THEN… storm hits, power goes out 😱 kids were lowkey losing it but honestly? it was chill—felt like the place was made for that kinda chaos. power came back in like a minute, so it was nothing but laughs and memories made 💡🙌🏾 10/10 would do stormy vibes again
YO THE FOOD THO?? 😩🔥 i got the grouper fish fillet and i swear, it was THE BEST fish fillet in SAN PEDRO 💯 like i’m literally out of words trying to hype this up enough, it was that GOOD. Grilled, fresh, just perfect—i’m already planning my next visit just to get the same exact thing again 😂💥 10/10 would devour again and again.
