Go by 17 or 18 o'clock to enjoy the best sunset in Rio (my opinion), watch the torches being lit and have your senses assaulted by the many awesome smells in this place. Amazonian food, waiters could do better, a bit pricy but that is what it takes to keep it somewhat private within a public area. You don't need to spend to enjoy the view and nice atmosphere, though.

I visited Palaphita because of the reviews and photos from the Google maps (I saw they have parrots and I has hoping to see them). I haven't see them that day by my overall experience was positive. Caipirinhas are great and the waiter is very kind. Interior is cute and relaxing.

Although expensive, it is a really nice place to sit down and relax while enjoying the view. They also have a parrot which is quite fun to look at. The toilets are somewhat disappointing due to the doors being hard to open and close. If you want a great view and don't mind the price then this place will be perfect.

Great place to watch the sunset on the lake. Beautiful outdoor setting. Caipirinha was good - quite strong. Service was lackluster at best.

A great place to have a drink at night. It’s right by the lake! It’s beautiful at night. More like a bar for drinks and snacks, they have burgers and sandwiches but not fine dining. It’s relaxing and the view itself is worth the visit.

I love it! Some people will criticize the pricy menu. But the location is what caught me. Right on the edge of Rio's beautiful lagoon. It's a sunset hotspot. With lounge music and great atmosphere. Young crowd. Very romantic specially at night.

Pretty nice place to watch the sunset. Staff are really attentive, free snack with drink and overall a good place to have a pre dinner capirinha.

Den mysigaste baren med underbar mat! World's cutest tropical feeling bar with wonderful food. Come here before sunset 🌇 and watch the sun set over the hills and skyscrapers of rio down into the lagoa!!

Yelp
I have been to about three nightlife places during my visit to Brazil. This one is by far the best one! I absolutely love the ambiance. It's a pretty wide open space with lots of seating space as well as places for your group of friends to hangout. My favorite part are of course the large swings! I'd recommend stopping by if you're a visit. The locals already know about it!

Yelp
If you want somewhere to sit and watch the sunset, this is your place. Right by the lagoon, Palaphita Kitch has sort of a Balinese vibe, with bamboo furniture and sofas facing the water. It's a pretty romantic spot so you see a lot of couples as well as groups of friends. It's nice to just sit and watch people running/cycling by. We just ordered some cocktails but they do have a food menu with snacks. The second time we visited we tried to order food but the waitress seemed to forget and we just gave up. So I wouldn't say the service was particularly great but I would still visit again and again for the atmosphere. Plus, the toilets are pretty cool! The ladies toilet has this giant wooden throne around it!

Yelp
Whenever I have friends in town, I am sure to bring them to Palaphitas. It has one of the most beautiful sunsets in Rio! They have a variety of fancy caipirinhas--my favorite is the cacau with rosemary. The setting is very romantic with it's Balinese benches and colorful pillows. They also have a decent menu of artisanal sandwiches such as turkey with chutney. This is a great place to bring a big group of people, but call and make a reservation first so they can arrange the benches appropriately to suit a big party. Bring mosquito repellent as is it by the lagoon! Cons: Service- there practically is no service. It's almost as though the waiters intentionally ignore you and avoid eye contact. Price- A caipirinha will cost you about 26 reals. If you bring your own wine, they charge you more to cork it, than to just buy a bottle from them! Alas, I have still decided to give 4 stars because the ambiance is just so nice.

Yelp
Absolutely stunning view of the sunset. Definitely go here during your visit. Also, vegetarian friendly and I wouldn't say prices are unrealistic if you're a frequent traveler or from a big city.

Yelp
There is a small park behind this restaurant in Lagoa for kids. I took my niece the other day and she needed to use the bathroom. I went into the restaurant with her to ask nicely if she could use the bathrooms... they are right outside facing the park. I was even willing to buy something or pay. And was confronted by the most horrible woman! She was older and blonde-ish. She kept saying she couldnt and I explained that it was a small child that needed a bathroom. She kept saying it was for clients only and I said ok, I will buy something. And she said , no you can only do so starting at 4pm (it was probably about 3 pm at this point). She finally let her go into a men's room (why? I dont know, they are all the same and right next to each other). And the entire time my niece was trying to use the bathroom she was bad mouthing her! A Child! Saying.. I would never just go into someone's home and ask to go pee... people need to understand that. My poor niece was in tears! She is 9 years old! Someone that would talk like this to anyone, especially a child, should never ever work in service. Especially such a touristy location. It was honestly disgusting to witness her behavior!
