Palas Cerequio Barolo Cru Resort (La Morra, Piedmont) 2 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Fans of Italian wines will be interested to learn that Palás Cerequio styles itself “the temple of Barolo,” and is owned by the Michele Chiarlo winery. Winemaking and wine drinking take center stage here, for obvious reasons, but as a lodging it stands on its own; suites in the old manor house are delicately old-fashioned, while those in the new additions are as modern as can be. There’s a charming pool deck, a sky bar with panoramic views of the vineyards, and, of course, the opportunity for guided tastings at various times of the day. The restaurant offers other opportunities to discover the region." - Tablet Hotels

I wish I could provide a higher rating for our stay but a few elements let the experience down. Firstly a highlight. The welcome to the hotel was friendly and genuine. The same young man who welcomed us to the hotel served us at breakfast and was charming. Now to the less positive aspects of the stay. The suite we reserved was one of the worst rooms we've stayed in at this price point. The downstairs room looked immediately over the swimming pool and was probably just 2m away. It was like sitting in a fish bowl. It was impossible to open the curtains without a complete loss of privacy so they were kept shut, just the way we found them on arrival. Despite there being a sofa downstairs the TV was upstairs. So unless you wanted to watch TV only in bed you couldn't. (The TV didn't work, I assume the batteries in the remote were flat). The shower was poorly designed and flooded the floor. The rain shower was badly designed and unless you're a mountain climber access to the bath is virtually impossible for an older person. For an architect designed room it totally missed the mark. Diner was in a lovely setting. I never like it when a waiter prefers to choose your wine rather than hand you the wine list. Without making a scene we let him do so. Of course when we got the account on checking out I expect the cost of the wine selected for us was on the higher side of the choices available. It was fine but not anything special for the price. Similarly for a renowned food region the breakfast was just ok but certainly nothing special. It could have been so much better and indeed other places we stay at around the area are. So all in all we score our stay a pass only. The room is not an easy fix - it needs to be screened off from the pool area. The other issues are more easily resolved.

A hidden gem in the heart of Barolo – Unforgettable stay at Palas Cerequio This place is more than a resort — it's a pause in time, a breath of calm surrounded by vineyards that captivate you the moment you arrive. Palas Cerequio far exceeded my expectations. The room was modern, peaceful, and thoughtfully designed to invite rest. But what truly sets it apart are the views... from sunrise to sunset, the hills of Barolo unfold like a living painting. Sharing a glass of wine with my wife on our private terrace as the sun dipped behind the vines was simply perfect. This is a place that invites you to reconnect — with yourself and with the people who matter most. The restaurant opens early, even before sunrise, which is ideal if you’re planning a morning hike through the vineyards. The menu is complete, refined, and filled with carefully curated local options. Service is another highlight. The staff are kind, respectful, and genuinely attentive — always looking for ways to make your stay more enjoyable, with that unmistakable Italian attenzione that makes everything feel personal. If you’re planning to explore the Barolo wine region, this is the place to stay. Perfect for a romantic escape, a deep dive into wine culture, or simply to enjoy a high-end experience with authentic warmth. I would return without hesitation.

After years of being here, it continues to get better and better and better. Now this sky Barr hosts an amazing menu. It’s hard to leave this beautiful place. The pool, the rooms, the owners… Everything is perfect. They used to be a big secret but now everybody knows about it because it’s so amazing. Book ahead Enjoy this piece of heaven.

I gave an overall score of 4 because of the dinner we had at the resort. It was very average in taste. The room was spectacular with a beautiful view. The morning breakfast Buffet was delicious……with shaved truffles on the eggs!

A great place to relax, for a day or for a week. Exceptional selection of wines, not only from the Piedmont region. Fantastic service provided by a friendly and dedicated team. La Corte restaurant offers exquisite cuisine, and the SkyBar offers a beautiful view and a delicious menu.

My husband and I had lunch at the Skybar at the hotel. What a view! The food and service were excellent and our waiter was helpful in deciphering the menu. I had a glass of wine from one of their vineyards and it was delicious. I would recommend this restaurant.

It is a boutique hotel where staff seems to be happy. Room was very comfortable, view of the hills/vinyard was very nice. Breakfast was excellent. Hotel booked us on a truffle hunting led by local tartuffaio Bruno, a very pleasant experience.
