Nestled in northwest Tasmania, this hip spot serves stellar French-Italian fare with a Scandinavian vibe, perfect for brunch or a seven-course degustation.
"Palate Food & Drink This restaurant in northwest Tasmania —defined by a blond wood wall, white bucket chairs, and stoneware dishes—wouldn’t feel out of place in hip Hobart, or even in Sydney or Melbourne . It’s Scandinavian in style, but the food veers more French and Italian: pork, chorizo, and pea risotto; seared scallops with pickled fennel; duck rillettes; a lemon brûlée tart with raspberry chantilly cream. But seven-course degustation dinners and acoustic-guitar sessions are very, well, Tasmanian. Degustation dishes could feature everything from mint-cured ocean trout and sous vide squid for starters to entrées of slow-cooked lamb belly and confit duck served over charred peach purée and prosciutto."
Lovely little place. Staff are very polite.
Very helpful and informative with their menu.
Food is delicious and still hot when brought to our table. We have been in some places, and it's been nearly cold when given.
It's a must to stop in at and grab a bite
Will definitely be back
First was an egg n bacon roll, and mine was zucchini and corn fritters with 2 fried mushrooms and relish 🤩
Plus, our in-house ice coffees
Oh, plus little Pete, the chef, lol 😆

Delish food from Carol, Peter and their crew! It was a great spot to have a rushed bite to eat with the brother. Their ticketed evening meals were fabulous when I got the time off to enjoy a night out, would recommend to those who like good food and a nice place to eat!

Beautiful meals with lovely hosts. The food is amazing here and the atmosphere is lovely. Eat inside or outside in the sunshine. Well priced and friendly staff make the experience wholesome. You can even take your dog with you if you sit outside.

Came here for breakfast and was the best so far in Burnie we have been to. Then they mentioned a full "Christmas in July" dégustation menu they were putting on which sounded great. And it was! Oysters were best I've ever had anywhere. Great to support a quality local business going out of its way to do something special and different.

Yelp
Overall the food ranged from solid (the hotcakes) to stellar (the benedict), but sadly the coffee was just so-so.
It was tricky to locate (around the corner from where google maps says). Would highly recommend for a nice breakfast, but did notice that there was a for sale sign in the window for the business.

Yelp
Fantastic lunch and service! Had the gnocchi which was hand made and melted in my mouth, stunning.
My wife had the croquettes and they were fresh and balanced, making for a great experience.
The coffee and tea were also spot on, with fresh loose leaf tea and son of a gun coffee beans.

Yelp
Our regular and most favourite! We love the interesting choices for breakfast and have thoroughly enjoyed eating our way through both the breakfast & lunch menus. Delicious food, different from the norm. Great service. Highly recommend the degustation also. Could not rate more highly! Have never had a bad or even mediocre meal here and we have visited many, many times.
