The first thing you notice is that the hotel is beautifully presented, and extremely well maintained. We had a delux room which was spotlessly clean and the beds were changed each day we were there. We were impressed with the high ceilings which included an impressive fresco. The room was warm and included a lovely balcony overlooking the gardens, although a little cool in Dec to sit out, only a few rooms have the benefit of the balcony btw. The ensuite facilities were excellent, clean and modern with complementary dressing gowns and slippers. The shower was spacious and efficient and the controls were very responsive (contrary to a previous guest review). Despite it's central location, it is away from the central hustle and bustle and the room was very quiet at night. The breakfast was great with a good and fresh selection of high quality foods, including a small hot selection. Coffee was good and brought to the table, which meant not having the usual wait at a self-servecoffee machine. The restaurant in the evening meant it was easy and convenient to eat in the hotel, and food was discounted 20% for guests. The the food was excellent, freshly prepared and very tasty. All the staff were very polite and professional. We also enjoyed the complimentary 90 min session in the spa and we used the heated pool which extends outside so we could enjoy the pool at night and look at the stars. All in all an excellent stay in a lovely boutique-style hotel, we would definitely consider this hotel first for our next visit to Florence.

We stayed at Palazzo Carraia 1874 in Florence from December 27 to December 29, booking two rooms. While the staff was polite and genuinely kind throughout our stay, the room comfort significantly impacted the overall experience. The rooms were quite small, which may be expected in a historic property, but the main issue was the temperature. The rooms were extremely hot, with no effective way to lower the heat or adjust the climate control. As a result, we had to sleep with all the windows fully open just to make the rooms tolerable, which is far from ideal—especially in winter. This is unfortunate, as proper temperature control is a basic expectation for guest comfort. With improvements in climate management, this property could offer a much better experience. At present, the friendly staff was the highlight, but the room conditions prevent us from rating the stay higher.

It’s a very pretty hotel and perfectly fine if you don’t like a relaxing shower after a day of sight seeing. You can not go more than 2 minutes in the shower without getting either scalded by hot water or shocked with cold water, seemingly every time someone in the hotel touches a tap the shower temperature changes. Also not sure why they advertise a couples massage when they can’t secure a second masseuse. Certainly not deserving of the rating it currently has and certainly not for the price. Otherwise it was a good central location for site seeing and the service was fantastic from all staff.

Everything was fantastic! Easy walk from train station. Exceptional staff! Rooms are spotless. Beds very comfortable. The breakfast buffet had hot and cold options and everything was delicious. Cannot recommend enough. Get the room with the view!

Google
The hotel is ideally located within walking distance of the train station and all the top sights in Florence. We stayed in the Brunelleschi suite, which has an amazing view of the dome! The staff members were extremely helpful and friendly both before and during our stay. The little gym and wellness areas were really great.

Google
We had a wonderful stay at Palazzo Castri 1874. The location was perfect. It was just a pleasant 10–15 minute walk to the city centre, making it easy to explore Florence while enjoying a peaceful retreat away from the busiest streets. The hotel itself feels modern yet serene, with a relaxing atmosphere throughout. Our room was stylish, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. The staff were consistently welcoming, attentive, and very helpful with recommendations. We enjoyed making use of the spa facilities, which were excellent. Breakfast each morning offered a nice variety of options, and the garden was a beautiful, tranquil spot to unwind after sightseeing. Highly recommended!

Google
Wonderful stay here all around. Location is top notch with easy access to the train station, central market and historic district. Super quaint with an interior garden that offers a delightful scene for breakfast or daily 4pm tea service. Room was spacious and comfortable. All staff were warm and helpful. Would stay here again for sure.

Yelp
I have absolutely NO problems rating Palazzo Castri a five out of five rating. Of all the hotels we stayed at in Italy, this was the best. The location was very convenient and it was easy to walk from the hotel to all of the sites in Florence, including the Uffizi Gallery and surrounding attractions; Mercato Centrale, where you can browse the food stalls or enjoy a variety of restaurants upstairs; as well as many excellent restaurants that are within easy walking distance. I can't say enough about how friendly and authentic was every staff person I met, including the hosts in the lobby, the restaurant staff, and other hotel workers. I don't know how they do it, but these people were as genuine and helpful as it gets. The food at the breakfast buffet was outstanding and better than any other hotel we stayed at. It is restocked frequently, the food is fresh, and the variety almost overwhelming. They have a beautiful court yard and offer free spa and yoga lessons for guests. The rooms were large and comfortable. I don't own or work for this hotel, despite how positive this review seems to be. They are just simply that great!

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic in every way. The staff, the rooms, the spa, the location. Couldn't be better. We will absolutely return !!

Yelp
Location excellent very close to Cathedral. The Staff were super helpful and attentive to us during our stay. Rooms were very nice and well maintained.

Yelp
The hotel is lovely. Rooms are small but nice. We had a chronic toilet issue that they kept fixing but kept recurring. Wasn't thrilled with mold growing on shower and the fact that the lotion and shower gel dispensers were not refilled.

Yelp
Lovely hotel; good location; wonderful breakfast; nice gym for 2 people reserved; smallest room is too small and would pay for upgrade next time. Would definitely stay there again!

Yelp
The hotel was fabulous. I would consider this a 4-star property. Great location to walk to just about any place in Florence and close to the train station if you are doing day trips to other parts of the Tuscan Valley. The staff was amazing. All very nice friendly and helpful. The room and bathroom were bigger than most hotel rooms in Europe and extremely clean. I only had one small issue while we were there, and the manager took care of it. I would recommend this property and would stay here again.

Yelp
Palazzo Castri 1874 was lovely from the moment we walked into the lobby. We were greeted by a friendly front desk staff. We were a bit early for our check-in so they held our luggage for us and we at an AMAZING lunch in the courtyard of the hotel. There we had THE best Ragu dish we had our entire stay. We spent a lot of time in the lovely courtyard. This small hotel is such a gem within a very busy city. Each day as we came back to the hotel after exploring we felt we were out in the country escaping the noice and bustle of our surroundings. Our room faced the courtyard as well so sleeping with the windows open was perfect. The hotel was immaculate. The staff were lovely and helpful when ever we needed anything. The rooms were perfect. We had a king bed! Service was impeccable. We stayed in a number of hotels on this trip and Palazzo Castri's breakfast was THE best. And our favorite of all of the hotels. Each morning you are greeted with smiles and wonderful coffee and wide variety of wonderful items to start your day. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and cannot wait to return next time. I highly recommend !! The hotel is located around the corner from the famous of Mercado Centrale, which is a lot of fun and an easy walk to all of the city attractions.

Yelp
Incredible service, rooms, restaurant and atmosphere. Bravo to the staff for making it feel like home!

Yelp
This hotel has had a very nice renovation the décor and ambiance is top notch. We have been backpacking around Europe but staying in hotels that are 4 stars or more and this one is far superior than the Ritz and Four Seasons in customer service. The moment we walked in, we were greeted with a smile and the room was upgraded -- we didn't ask for an upgrade it was given to us. We had booked a classic room with a king but we received a huge room/suite. The spa and Turkish bath experience is included in your room rate so after having a sore neck and back pains from my heavy back pack it was so nice to relax and chill in the pool. The pool is half indoor and half outdoor, really fun to swim back and forth. The hydromassage is super fun to experience. The summer weather in Florence is sweltering and so the pool is much appreciated. Breakfast was included in our room rate as well and the spread is great with a lot of choices. When trying to figure out where to stay in Florence treat yourself and book this place, it's worth it.

Yelp
We loved our stay at Palazzo Castri! It's such a wonderful retreat after a long journey. The hotel is quiet and comfortable. The courtyard is a great place to settle in for an afternoon cocktail and appetizers. The breakfast here has a wide variety, from fresh made pastries to scrambled eggs with bacon or sausage. We had dinner at the restaurant the night we arrived after our long flight from Los Angeles. The food was very good and the service was outstanding. We have already decided that this will be out hotel on our next visit to Florence. I've read some of the complaints from other reviewers and I just don't get it. If there is anything the staff can do here to make you feel welcomed they will do it. Some issues just can't be resolved by the hotel you're staying at. I will never forget how accommodating all of the staff at Palazzo Castri were to us. Teresa was always gracious and eager to assist with restaurant reservations and calling a taxi for us. Camilla in the restaurant was always so pleasant and happy to serve us. Look forward to returning.

Yelp
Perfect stay in Firenze. Staff very professional and very kind. Rooms, swimming pool and garden are perfect. Good breakfast buffet. Well located. 7min by walk to the Duomo. It was a very good experience in Firenze

Yelp
It appears this hotel has been renovated or is under new management. It is absolutely gorgeous and the service is top notched and phenomenal! I am writing this review in the lounge on the day of our departure. My wife and I stayed here for 4 days, and we have nothing but great things to say about the hotel and the staff. Grazie to Nadia, Emma, and Silvia for making this stay an absolute joy! We stayed in the Junior Suite facing the road. The windows and insulation were awesome since we could barely hear the traffic in the bustling mornings. The AC was ridiculously cold which was perfect on those hot and humid days! The room was perfect with 2 flat screen TV with satellite service. The bed was very comfy... Let's say there were days we didn't want to get out of bed! The spa and wellness area was very good since it was a nice area to just relax and chill out. I believe they do have spa service but it needs to be scheduled ahead of time. One of the HUGE perks of this place is the free breakfast! Oh my goodness! For being free, there is a great selection of pastries, eggs with bacon, yogurts, cereals, and the meat and cheese selections. You can even order cappuccino or whatever drink you fancy! Would we stay here again in the future? In a heartbeat!

Yelp
This hotel could have earned a higher rating -- location is convenient to major sights, room was comfortable and spotless, staff was friendly and accommodating, with one major exception. When we returned our rental car at the Florence train station, we discovered that the taxis were all on strike. So we called the hotel for advice on how to get there. After some discussion between the staff at the other end of the line, they suggested we walk. tar With six suitcases. In temperatures of 95 degrees Fahrenheit. So we piled the smaller bags on top of the two largest suitcases with wheels and set off on the narrow sidewalks and through a tunnel. After an hour, we arrived at the hotel drenched in sweat. No one at the front desk seemed to notice. A 5-star hotel would have sent a staff member to pick us up. A 4-star hotel would have offered us bottled water when we crossed it's threshold. A 3-star hotel would have been satisfied to rent us a room. Which is what Palazzo Castri did.

Yelp
I have to say that their customer service is one of best! I have traveled a lot and I was very happy they treat you like royalty. if I come back to Florence I would stay here again. they have teatime from 3 to 4 and a good breakfast in the morning. The room is really clean.

Yelp
Cool, modern and clean boutique hotel with: nice patio, pool and simple yet good breakfast. When we arrived our room was not ready, however they gave us a tour of the hotel and we decided to wait at the bar. The bar has a wide variety of good vino and interesting cocktails. By the time we were ready to order second round the room was ready. We opted for a nice view of the garden and it was a very nice in August. We kept our window open most of the time and had a nice panoramic view of the garden and a bit of the city. House keeping did an amazing job and front desk staff was friendly and accommodating. The only minus is that it is located next to a bazaar but you can re route if you don't mind the walk to get around it. Will definitely consider staying here again and recommend. ^____________^

Yelp
This hotel is super chic and well appointed! The rooms are impeccable and the linens and the toiletries are very high-end. In each room there is loaner smart phone that you may use to help you navigate the city. I had never seen this before, and it came in very handy. You can walk to to the central market in less than 5 minutes where there is an upstairs food court that will blow your mind!! The pool was a wonderful addition that our children enjoyed. The staff was super helpful.

Yelp
None of the pictures taken by guests or by the hotel itself can do this place justice. We were totally floored by our stay and would have liked to extend our vacation just to enjoy all of the hotel's amenities. The building itself is pretty unassuming on Via Nazionale, right in front of an adorable piazza. When you walk into the hotel you are transported to a world of ultimate chic and class. The hotel is modern and beautiful, while still maintaining some of the building's original beauty. All of spaces, from check-in to the bar area are meticulously decorated and well-maintained. Their backyard outdoor space is absolutely stunning. I don't think I've ever seen a city hotel with such beautiful green space. We splurged and went for a space access room which was gorgeous. It had a separate lounge space and a HUGE bathroom. The bed was incredible comfortable and we had two balconies overlooking the piazza. It was more than enough space for two people. Sadly we were not able to enjoy the spa/workout amenities as we were only there for two nights, but when we go back to Florence we are absolutely staying there again!

Yelp
I had the pleasure of staying at Palazzo Castri for a number of weeks last summer. I was stunned by this hidden gem situated in the heart of Florence--the décor was elegant and cozy, the staff affable and courteous, and the breakfast by far the best of any hotel I ever stayed at in my life. Enjoy some mid-afternoon tea and pastries in the serene garden out back - shielded from all the city noise - and relax and unwind in the steam room at the end of the day. What an experience, thank you!

Yelp
Hotel: Palazzo Castri 1874 Length of Stay: 6 nights Cost: ~$200/night over the christmas holiday Summary: Overall good hotel. The staff is super friendly, well trained, very helpful. Give great recommendations on restaurants and places to go (they don't send you to the tourist places, they have good restaurants to recommend). Overall very comfortable, friendly, and safe location. Location: Location is decent. Used to stay in the Palazzo Hotel Luchese by the arno and santa Croce. This is on the opposite side of town near the central market which is nice however walking through the central market/san Lorenzo market each day kind of eats up a lot of time and you have the guys haggling you to buy stuff every time you go out. Could have taken a different street I suppose but with it being there it draws you to walk there. Not far from everything however I prefer the other side of town. Is walking distance to everything but expect a 15-20 minute walk to the Arno/Uffizzi/Ponte Vechio. Oh and I would be remissed if I did not mention Pino! They have the most friendly cat you have ever met. He lives on premise, staying outside most of the day and coming in at night to sleep in the hallway. He is very friendly and if you call him he will come over to cuddle and get bet. Breakfast: The breakfast is decent, a nice spread, mostly cold cuts and danishes/breads with some cheeses and cookies. Coffee is good, they will give you a pot or make you a cappuccino/latte if you ask. All included in the price of the room. Room: Rooms are large and comfy. Bed is very comfortable with great linen. One problem was the place did not include an iron or ironing board in the room, however if you request from the front desk they can have on sent up. There is a small laundromat across the street as well as a small supermarket for whatever you have forgot to bring. Amenities: Very modern. Spa is nice. Small locker rooms when you walk in with a shower and bathroom. Robes must be brought down from room but they do include towels and flip flops in the lockers. The indoor outdoor mineral pool is next as you walk further in. It is nice with beds with bubblers and jets on the side. Pretty large. However maybe it was because we went in the winter and it was indoor outdoor but it was not very warm. It is probably warmer in the summer given half of the pool is outdoors. They have a computer to use however no printer (you can email whatever you want to the front desk to print out for you). Parking: Didn't have a car, but I believe parking is 20-30/night as with everywhere else

Yelp
This hotel is AMAZING! The only downfall is that it is not in the center of town which is fine because it is less crowded and it only takes less than 15 minutes to walk to the Duomo and Bridge, etc. Breakfast in the morning was your typical Italian breakfast of pastries, eggs, meats/cheese, etc, but much more high quality than the other hotels we stayed at here. The courtyard and pool in the back is beautiful and so relaxing. The room was the BEST. High ceilings, most comfortable bed ever, clean, shower was perfect, and zero noise. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Yelp
I found Palazzo Castri 1874, modern, beautiful and the staff, friendly. The room I had was comfortable, with high ceilings and blackout draperies. The bathroom, located next to the bed had a nice view for my companion to see through the glass door. I'll be grateful when that trend comes to an end and privacy comes back into vogue. It also had a nice blue cast light in the shower, just in case you missed the disco era. The complimentary breakfast offered a large selection, including scrambled eggs with hot-dogs. Don't laugh, I ate this as a child and it brought back a few memories, not all of them bad. I preferred the pepperoni stuffed peppers with my eggs. Overall, I liked this hotel and I would happily stay again.

Yelp
Where do I start? First off I was here for a wedding and needed a place for one more night so I booked this hotel on a limb based on reviews. When I booked there were very little reviews because this hotel is so new, but wow am I glad I chose this place! I felt like I was in a Spa for two days. Upon check in the staff anxiously greeted us with excitement and spoke perfect English which was a relief for us. We were escorted up to the room and were told our bags would arrive shortly which they did. The room itself is very comfortable and inviting, with plenty of space for all your needs, which is hard to find in Florence. We had a unbelievable night sitting in the garden/terrace by the pool drinking wine. We had such a great night we over slept and had to rush to figure out if what we were going to do because we had two more nights before our flight with nothing booked. I immediately walked downstairs and asked if they had another room for the night. Within minutes I was upgraded to a Junior Suite room with a small upcharge. We then spent the remainder of the day lounging by the pool(It also goes inside and converts to a jacuzzi area) and sipping on wine. If I ever come to Italy again I will now come to Florence just to stay at this hotel. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming and just an amazing place! Fyi... the Wifi is very fast

Karen W.

Yelp
What is there not to like about this hotel? Located along what we called "hotel row" Palazzo Castri is unassuming and subtle, the way we like it. The best part about the hotel , apart from the stunningly chic renovated pubic spaces and room, was the attentive staff. With only a single mention of how I like my coffee to my allergy to cats, they always served my coffee the way I liked it and shooed Pinot? away anytime he/she was near. We only stayed 4 nights before heading off to Greece and Morocco but now know where we will stay in the future. The central location was awesome and we walked everywhere. This helped to burn some calories after some pretty awesome meals. The complimentary breakfast was so good, we even skipped lunch a few times since we had so much to keep us busy.

Yelp
Excellent hotel. Chic, very modern and metropolitan yet still very comfortable and within walking distance of all the sights any true lover of Firenze would visit. The staff is polite, accommodating and pleasant. The blue light is a nice touch! Will definitely return.

Dolores K.

Yelp
First time staying there. Rooms and view are beautiful. Newly remodeled. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Walk to beach! Quiet away from a lot of noise! Wonderful breakfast. I would stay there again.

Yelp
Palazzo Castri is located in a good area of the historic centre, not far from anywhere you would need to go. The interior is elegant and relaxing as they are a spa boutique hotel. The courtyard if phenomenal especially as you enjoy the excellent breakfast they have to offer. Truly an escape from the real world, if you are looking to get away from worries and stress, this is the place to be!

Michela D.

Yelp
Very nice place to stay in Florence. It's comfortable, clean, luxurious, and the staff is very knowledgable and always happy to give you advice on where to eat, shop, etc. Overall a fantastic hotel!

Yelp
3-Star Hotel we stayed for our first Italy/Florence trip. Which was great especially for us Fashion/Design Students at the time. Located in the center of Florence close by to Plazas & Restaurants, you can pretty much walk all over to where you need to get. We had 3 of us to a room, so we did have a pretty good size, a window area, and of course a Bidet in the Bathroom, might of been the best room in the hotel. Room looked a little better than like how you see it on their website with the gaudy blue tapestry, and bed-spread, but might of been because we did have one of the larger rooms. Kind of reminds me of a more Country-Tuscany look. They had a cute Garden of Eden-Style in their patio area decorated with cute statue cherubs everywhere. Like our Hotel Room in Rome, included was a Buffet Style Breakfast which included: Seasonal Fruits, Pasteries, Italian meats like Pancetta & Prosciutto. Would I stay there again, if I went back to Florence...Probably not, think I would love to explore another option.

Eiman A.

Yelp
Very beautiful and quite hotel. The furniture, floors, and the walls all feel fresh and clean. It is well located: 5 minutes from the train station, 5 min from Florence Biennale, 7 minutes from Academia, Duomo, and the rest of the main attractions. It is totally worth booking if you have the proper fund. I am here for work, but the central location allowed me to enjoy the city regardless of my busy schedule.
