44 Best Hotels in Rome, According to a Local (2025) | Condé Nast Traveler

"Once the Malsapina family home, this hotel still feels like an aristocratic party venue with huge chandeliers and an impressive art collection that includes originals by Warhol, Picasso, and Dalí; the rooms are quietly elegant with cream walls, velvet curtains, and crisp linens. I enjoyed the luxurious bathroom amenities (Acqua di Parma) and the hotel restaurant Pacifico’s Japanese-Peruvian fusion and poolside Pisco Sours, all delivered by warm, attentive staff." - Maresa Manara

Palazzo Dama

"How did it strike you on arrival?Palazzo Dama is everything you’d imagine a modern Roman palace to be: chic, polished, and with just the right amount of bling. There’s parquet flooring throughout, chandeliers dripping from the ceiling, and a serious collection of artwork on nearly every wall. No surprise, then, that the property is the former family home of the noble Malaspina family, who threw legendary shindigs for centuries. Nice. What’s the crowd like?Guests here are super stylish: expect lots of crisp linen trousers and moccasins (purchased from the Tod’s store on nearby Via del Corso, of course). The good stuff: Tell us about your room. The 29 rooms here are fresh and contemporary, with high ceilings and smooth white walls. The beds are big and comfy (complete with a pillow menu), and a plush corner sofa is a welcome place to cosy up with a book in between sightseeing jaunts. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase? The art collection is spectacular, and those coffee table design bibles are pretty covetable, too. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down.Bathrooms are all marble mosaics, with showers big enough to throw a party in. The products are by Acqua di Parma, of course. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word?Wi-Fi is free, hoorah! It works well across the property, even in the garden and by the pool; ideal for uploading those boast-worthy Instagram snaps. Room service: Worth it?All-day dining gets a do-over here, with quinoa salads, sea bass ceviche, and tuna tacos all big hitters on the menu. Expect to pay between €14 and €24 per dish. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.The Pacifico bar and restaurant are pure 1920s decadence, with chandeliers, potted palms, and velvet bar stools you could spend an evening in. Chef Jaime Pesaque’s Peruvian-inspired menu is spot on, too. The downstairs nightclub, Raspoutine (could this place be any more perfect?!) is utterly decadent, welcoming the who’s who of Rome’s social scene. What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay? The morning breakfast spread – often a lacklustre affair in Italian hotels – is a standout at Palazzo Dama, with heaping bowls of mueslis and granolas, fragrant melons and sweet kiwi fruits, and freshly-pressed juices. Take your pick from the platters of still-warm pastries or choose from one of the many egg-based options. Bottom line: worth it, and why?A stay at Palazzo Dama’s worth every dollar, just for a few days of aristocrat living." - Maresa Manara

Palazzo Dama (Rome, Lazio) 23 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"She must have been some dama. Rome’s Palazzo Dama is, in part, a tribute to the 18th-century marquise Anna Maria Malaspina, who, if the Palazzo’s elegantly composed interiors and perfectly discreet luxuries are any indication, was an enviable lady indeed. The location, just off the Ponte Regina Margherita and two streets over from the Piazza del Popolo, is nothing if not auspicious, and the villa itself is a stunner, its well-preserved exterior giving way to interiors that blend the historic with the contemporary in that inimitably untroubled Italian style." - Tablet Hotels

We stayed at Palazzo Dama in Rome for part of our honeymoon, and it truly made the trip unforgettable. The staff were incredibly helpful from the start, even arranging a private car to collect us from the train station. We were warmly welcomed with Prosecco in our room and a complimentary drink at the bar, which set the tone for a wonderful stay. Our room was beautiful, spacious, and very comfortable. We enjoyed a relaxing in-room massage followed by time in the spa, which was a perfect way to unwind. After exploring the city, we often headed to the poolside for drinks and a cigar — a truly elegant way to relax. The pool area itself was stunning and a real highlight. The food was absolutely delicious, and the location couldn’t have been better: close to excellent restaurants and within walking distance of landmarks such as the Spanish Steps and Vatican City. Without a doubt, this is a five-star hotel in every sense — from its setting and facilities to the outstanding staff. Highly recommended.

⭐ 1/10 – Extremely disappointing stay. Would never return.||I had an incredibly unpleasant experience at Palazzo Dama and strongly advise others to avoid this hotel. For the price they charge, the quality is absolutely unacceptable.||The room was poorly maintained, far from the “luxury” they advertise. Basic cleanliness seemed to be optional — dusty surfaces, worn furniture, and an overall feeling that the space hadn’t been properly cared for in a long time. The service was equally disappointing. Staff were indifferent at best and completely unhelpful when issues were raised. Any request felt like an inconvenience to them.||The general atmosphere of the hotel simply does not match its marketing or its price. Whatever charm or elegance this place once had is long gone. There are countless better hotels in Rome that actually deliver on service, comfort, and value — this is not one of them.||I deeply regret choosing Palazzo Dama and would strongly recommend booking elsewhere.

Let me start off by saying that this is the third time I stay at this hotel in Rome. (First time was 2017 and it was fantastic). Beautiful dining room and pool area. The hotel is walking distance from many restaurants and shops. Breakfast was ok but not everything on the menu was included. You have to pay extra if you order pancakes or eggs Benedict. I felt like the hotel this year needs renovations especially the gym and also needs proper training of staff. If you book there don’t expect 5 star treatment from the front desk or from the waitress during breakfast.

Given a room in which its aircon was broken. Had to call Reception three times. Then go down to explain it to them. They were unhelpful. They moved us to an inferior room. The hotel looks lovely, yet broken aircon, staff with bad attitude and general service was not what you should receive. Plenty of hotels to choose from, will not be going back to this one.

Certainly not a 5 star property. Found the rooms very small, even for a junior suite. Furnishing worm and some broken, bed frame was torn. Poor housekeeping, Towels not refreshed and no turn down service. As a solo traveller was not comfortable walking to the hotel location at night. Rome has better options than this dated property.

We stayed at this hotel for a portion of our trip in Rome. Upon entering we knew this place was going to be wonderful, from the architecture, to the air conditioned space, and the amazing staff who were very attentive to all our needs. The rooms were the perfect size, the pool was lovely, and the breakfast was just what we needed each morning.
