Palazzo degli Elefanti is a pretty cool landmark, and it’s definitely worth a quick visit. Unfortunately, the experience was overshadowed by the overall condition of Catania. Much of the city felt dirty and neglected. People seemed to smoke even more than in mainland Italy, and there was trash and litter scattered throughout the streets. Many buildings were coated in black volcanic ash—or something that looked like it—which gave the whole area a grimy, gloomy atmosphere. Overall, while the Fontana dell’Elefante and Palazzo degli Elefanti are interesting sights, the general environment of the city made the visit feel more depressing than enjoyable. They’re fascinating landmarks, but they sit in a setting that doesn’t quite do them justice.

Located in a busy area near the shopping street in Catania. The place is nice, old but gold. It is nice to take a walk around the place.

The palace was built in 1696. Later in the 18th century it was rebuilt by architectural Giovanni Vaccarini Nowadays you can find the city town hall. You can go inside the yard and find some of the museum exhibits, included two coaches of 18th century, one of them was made in Germany. They are using during the holidays in honour of St. Agata to deliver the mayor of Catania to St. Agatas church to take a part in a solemn ceremony.

The elephant statue is one of the cutest statues I've ever seen. There is also an elephant carving on the floor of the piazza.
