Staying here is part of truly experiencing the city. The room was uniquely designed—modern yet cozy. The bed was incredibly comfortable, perfect for recovering after a long day of exploring.

I stayed one night at Palazzo del Duca Matera. The hotel has a beautiful setting with stunning views, which I truly appreciated. However, I was very disappointed with my room experience. After my whole day outside until late night when I entered the room, sand and small debris were constantly falling from the ceiling. My bed, the floor, and even the bathroom were covered with little sand here and there which can be quite annoying. It was extremely uncomfortable to sleep in these conditions. After breakfast, I immediately informed reception and asked them to check if this was normal. They told me someone would come to inspect, but I waited for 3 hours and no one came until I checked out. At check-out, I mentioned the issue again, but there was no sense of urgency or proper service recovery. For a property of this category, I expected much better service and accountability. The view is beautiful, but the lack of attention to such a serious room issue and the poor follow-up from the staff left me very disappointed.

Chef Mario David's private cooking & dining experience was the highlight of our trip. A ten!!!! My family had a private cooking class in the restaurant which is nestled in a cave. Chef Mario David & his staff were second to none. His sister was making homemade pasta the entire time with us. The chef's dinner was was incredible, the best pasta we have ever had. Can't wait to return one day.

I went to a private cooking class here with my family. The entire experience was perfect from beginning to end. We learned how to roll pasta and watched Chef Mario cook in the kitchen all while his sister Elena was rolling pasta the whole time. Chef Mario’s food was the best food I have ever had in my life, and I have eaten at a lot of places. They were extremely kind and welcoming. I cannot wait to go back and stay there as well.

We found the restaurant spontaneously walking through the charming streets of Matera and we couldn’t have had better luck! The restaurant sits in a cozy area with wonderful views, yet it brings elegance to the table. Our waiter, Tino, took care of us with such a care that we felt we are at a private dinning diner. The food was very delicious and each meal had the “wow” effect. Highly highly recommended!

The food was absolutely beautiful and incredibly tasty! Our waiter Tino was so kind and attentive, and really contributed to the whole experience. We felt taken care of from start to finish. The view is the cherry on top. A wonderful evening all around – truly a place worth every recommendation!🫶🏼

Stayed at this hotel during our honeymoon. We are giving this hotel 3 stars mainly due to the great staff who are very friendly and helpful and the fantastic breakfast, however the room deserves a 1 star. We had issues with the room we got. We got room 101, it comes with a hot tub and is advertised as the best room they had (and most expensive). However the hot tub was never actually hot, they tried fixing it but it still did not heat. The A/C in the room also does not actually cool the room. They need to look into that as Matera is a very hot region and it makes it difficult to sleep. They got us a fan but when paying top dollar we expect proper A/C in the room. The room was also always humid due to the non-functional hot tub. Finally our room was next to the main entrance of the hotel (technically outside the hotel), with the hotel restaurant right outside of it. Therefore, do not expect to sleep before 11pm as you will always hear people outside talking loudly (makes you feel like you're sleeping in the streets) . I would not stay here again under these same conditions.

We did a private cooking class with the owner and his sister. One of the best experiences of our trip and probably our lives. This is a must if you are visiting.
