Rome's Art & Architecture: Our Guide

"Ornate on the outside, sleek and modern on the inside, this massive institution hosts rotating exhibits, a design-forward shop, and a Michelin-starred rooftop restaurant. Come here in the afternoon to spend an hour exploring the Bergman retrospectives or tech-centric exhibitions detailing the future of humans then do duck and pea plin for dinner at its excellent, modern rooftop restaurant." - Laura Itzkowitz

Palazzo delle Esposizioni is a building that houses a cinema hall, an auditorium, plenty of spaces for educational activities, a bookshop, a restaurant, and a café. It is one of the largest exhibition spaces in central Rome as well as being the most advanced cultural centers in Europe. It holds art exhibitions to film festivals, from theater to photography exhibitions, including music, book presentations and educational programs. Construction began in 1880 and the building was inaugurated, with great pomp and in the presence of King Umberto I in 1883 .

This is a truly significant event, among many other events that took place during our month in Rome. I used to be somewhat skeptical about designer brands, including D&G, considering them to be more exploitative of human vices than value creators. However, after visiting the exhibition, I realized that D&G designers are rather the greatest artists with whom we are lucky to share our modern times. The D&G exhibition in Rome emphasizes a certain equivalence between the art of the masters of antiquity and the Renaissance and the art of modern D&G masters. I am extremely impressed by the exhibition, I am sitting and looking through the photographs taken at this wonderful exhibition with great pleasure. My sincere gratitude to the organizers and creators of all the masterpieces of the exhibition, as well as the manufacturers of the unique decorations and design.

We visited Dolce&Gabbana exhibition. I can't say that even was a fun of this brand, but the exhibition was very impressive. Costumes put in a certain themes, light, music, audio effects - all is done so highly professional... bravo!

Carefully curated expositions, framed in a. Beautiful building . There is a very pleasant coffee bar in the basement with an indoor garden. Also recommend the book shop

I was a member for a year, having understood that with the discount it was more convenient. So I explored the 2024 exhibition. Overall the experience was enjoyable. Nothing overwhelming for my tastes but still a fantastic exploration experience. It can be said that during the year there have been 2 major exhibitions and various options on the upper floor of events and smaller exhibitions. Thank you for the wonderful experience. I wish I had done it sooner

Stumbled upon this beautiful exhibition at Palazzo delle Esposizioni, dedicated to Dolce & Gabbana’s artistic inspirations. It’s not very big, but it’s thoughtfully curated. Lots of references to Italian art, culture, and heritage. Each room feels like a visual story. It’s not overcrowded, and you don’t need to book a ticket in advance (at least when we went). A quiet, inspiring stop in a city that sometimes feels overwhelming.

The atmosphere is quite nice it's wasn't very crowded, but I have to say towards the end the locations of the rooms where quite odd, but a lovely experience in all ☺️

Yelp
Neoclassical exhibition hall, but beautiful to gaze upon. They hold temporary exhibitions.

Yelp
Without doubt one of Rome's more interesting art galleries, with the benefit of usually offering two or three simultaneous shows (usually from different centuries), so if you go with a fan of the Old Masters but you're more of an abstract art chick, everything is ok. It only gets three stars for a couple of reasons, however; I find the layout fairly frustrating - when the exhibition space is full, you never really escape from the noise in the main atrium. School parties also easily clog up the aisles. The biggest defect for me today when I visited was the approach and general demeanour of the front desk; while attempting to buy my ticket, the person behind the desk didn't once stop chatting to a fellow staff member, communicating with me only in gestures, which was a shame as the rest of the gallery staff seemed polite and ready to help. As usual, one of the toilets was out of order and a faint air of chaos reigned throughout the gallery. Noisy visitors don't really get shushed which can make the whole experience pretty frustrating at times.
