Had high expectations for Palazzo Doglio as part of the Leading Hotels of the World collection, but unfortunately my stay was very disappointing and certainly not up to that standard.||||Noise – the biggest issue and the lack of relaxing outdoor space such as a pool! ||||The hotel is extremely noisy, making it almost impossible to sleep.|| • From the hallways, footsteps and conversations carry directly into the rooms.|| • From above, constant chair dragging starts early in the morning.|| • From outside, the central courtyard restaurants bring late-night chatting, singing, and music.|| • Add to this dogs barking in the early hours and garbage collection at 6am, and it meant multiple nights of broken sleep.||||For a 5-star property, the lack of soundproofing is shocking.||||Room (210 – Corner Room)|| • Large in size with two small balconies, but both overlooked the noisy courtyard.|| • Décor is dark (brown/aubergine walls, sand curtains) and the lighting is harsh rather than relaxing.|| • Practical issues:|| • Wardrobe door blocks access to the bathroom.|| • Shower area had mould and grouting that needs refurbishment.|| • Only two tiny 330ml bottles of water per day, which is insufficient for both drinking and the coffee machine.|| • On one night, no turn-down service, no water provided, beach towels left in bathtub, and no body lotion/tissues – unacceptable for this category of hotel.||||Breakfast (Osteria del Forte)|| • Sat outside by the fountain but noise was intrusive.|| • Food quality underwhelming: dry bread, runny scrambled eggs, below-average cold cuts.||||Spa & Facilities|| • Extremely small spa area, shared entrance with the gym.|| • €50 per person entry fee is excessive, especially given the size.|| • Facilities: one small pool, Turkish bath, sauna, a few loungers.|| • For a Leading Hotel, the lack of any outdoor pool or relaxation space is a major drawback. This hotel is not suited for guests seeking rest or leisure.||||Service & Operations|| • Check-in with Lorenzo was smooth, but overall service inconsistent.|| • Twice, housekeeping blocked room access for 15 minutes after breakfast, once even instructing me not to use the bathroom as the floor was wet.|| • Parking is off-site, a short walk away, and €10/day – manageable, but not clearly explained in advance.||||Overall Impression||||Palazzo Doglio may look impressive at first glance, but it fails on the fundamentals of a luxury hotel: peace, comfort, and consistent service. The noise, lack of proper spa or relaxation areas, and inconsistent housekeeping make it feel far from the Leading Hotels of the World standard.||||If you are looking for a relaxing stay with outdoor space and a good night’s sleep, this is not the hotel for you.||Will not be recommending this hotel in Cagliari, will definitely be staying elsewhere on the next trip!
