We spent a Friday night end of July 2024 in this Swiss historic hotel, some five kilometers from the end of the winding road up Valle Onsernone. For anyone not used to the Italian/Ticinese driving style, going up and down the 25 kilometers to the hotel may be quite daunting. There is a new and and an older part of the hotel featuring a total of 5 rooms, two of which are "historic" in the sense they belong to the older part of the buildings and are decorated with furniture and parafernalia mainly from the 19th century. You are warmly received and cared for. The pre-set, simple breakfast is served in the older part of the buidings. The bathrooms for the historic rooms are located in a corridor requiring navigating two flights of stairs in the dark. The only thing missing for an elderly guest is a long shoehorn and a potty. For anyone interested in hiking, this is a great base-camp for excursions into the wilderness.
