Palazzo Marletta Hotel, Catania, Sicily - Explore & Book

"Approaching the unassuming entrance to the Palazzo Marletta Luxury House Hotel, there’s little evidence of the splendour and history that lies within. This former home of 18th-century Italian nobility has been lovingly restored into a boutique sanctuary with seven rooms in central Catania. Inside, it manages to respect its historical origins – the hand-painted majolica floors, frescoed ceilings, intricate stucco work – while offering 21st-century luxury and next-level service. This is a haven for culture vultures, history buffs and romantic weekenders, keen to sample the sights, sounds and smells of olde-worlde Sicily. The views over the Piazza Duomo are jaw-dropping, and a short stroll will take you to the magnificent cathedral of Saint Agatha, a host of museums, the world-famous fish market, a plethora of Baroque churches, the majestic Castello Ursino and the truly eye-popping Teatro Massimo Bellini – catch an opera if you can. Catania, a World Heritage Site, is an often overlooked part of Sicily, where travellers eschew the city in favour of the beaches and rural retreats. They’re missing out – be sure not to make the same mistake. Highs Location, location, location. Whether its majestic views, superb restaurants, high-end shopping or Roman amphitheatres, everything is within walking distanceDespite being in the middle of a noisy city, the air-conditioned and soundproofed rooms provide a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle outsideExcellent service - everything from yacht rental to personal shoppers and image consultants is available on requestLots of original features that hint at the building's former grandeur - some stuccos and decorations date back to the late 18th CenturyExcellent breakfasts with typical Sicilian treats, including local cheeses, pastries and cakes Lows Not suitable for families. Babies are welcome but 3+ years are not encouragedThere are no twin rooms and no bathsBecause it's an old building, the lift only goes to the first floor - most of the lower-grade rooms are further up on the second and third floors so you'll need to take the stairsParking at the hotel is tricky, but staff can point you to nearby paid parking - book well in advance" - Ben Reed

From the moment we arrived at Palazzo Marletta, we were treated not just as guests, but as cherished friends. This gem in the heart of Catania goes far beyond luxury—it's a masterclass in genuine hospitality, and we are especially grateful to Davide, Renato, and Alessandra for their warmth, attentiveness, and exceptional attention to detail. The room was impeccably clean, with every amenity thoughtfully provided—from soft slippers and foot mats to plush towels and beautifully arranged toiletries. It’s rare to find this level of detail and care; you feel that everything was prepared just for you. Breakfast service was also a standout. The food was not only delicious but always ready exactly at the time requested, which was a huge help for coordinating our early excursions. The team’s efficiency and timing made it easy to relax and enjoy every moment without stress or rush. Staying at Palazzo Marletta truly felt like being with family or the best of friends—every interaction was warm, sincere, and welcoming. Whether offering local tips or simply checking in to make sure we were comfortable, the staff went above and beyond. To top it off, the central location offers immediate access to Catania’s historical sights, cafes, and vibrant local life. You’re steps away from everything this incredible city has to offer—making it not just convenient, but the perfect base for exploring Sicily. We cannot recommend Palazzo Marletta highly enough. It was, without a doubt, the best stay we've ever had in Sicily, and we are already looking forward to returning.

Our stay exceeded our expectations! Our room was clean and faced the inner courtyard, making it very quiet despite the hotel’s central location right off Piazza Duomo. We were especially impressed by the service. Davide welcomed us upon arrival and even gave us a brief tour of the property. We had an early morning flight out of Catania Airport and we were able to confirm an airport transfer directly with the hotel. Although we had to leave before breakfast, there were plenty of breakfast options to choose from. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will gladly return on our next visit to Catania!

Talk about a pleasant surprise! I booked this hotel for my mother and myself to stay one night in Catania before leaving Sicily to go back home to the US. I Couldn’t believe how hospitable all of the people that worked here were. The hotel was absolutely charming and it couldn’t have been better located. Our room was so beautiful. I also had no idea what an amazingly festive and radiant city Catania is. I actually wish we could’ve stayed longer. The employees at the hotel were some of the best of our whole trip. The lovely woman that checked us in and helped us with our bags couldn’t have been more hospitable. Renato, the sommelier, went above and beyond our wine and champagne tasting experience by providing us with an authentic Italian light dinner. We were exhausted and didn’t feel like going out again and he cut us up some beautiful salami, cheeses, olives, fresh tomatoes, and the most delectable olive oil. Perfect finish to our trip to Sicily!

Nothing but good things to say. First for context, we travel internationally many times a year and have high standards for service, communication, amenities, safety, and cleanliness . We spend many months planning out our travels and researching hotels and locations to ensure we get exactly what we want, and that often comes with choosing to pay more because the experience means so much. We do rely on reviews but truly our initial outreach is often what sets a hotel apart almost immediately. Do they respond, how helpful is the response, etc. Everyone has their quirks and opinions and what is off putting for one person may not bother another. That being said, when I review I am honest and fair, but want to lay out that as long as we get what we expected, we tend to be easy going and aren’t as nit picky as some reviews I’ve read. In the case of this hotel, all the reviews were very positive. While that might seem suspect to some, I can tell you with confidence that after staying and planning our stay that all are true and accurate as our experience was wonderful! |From the moment we were searching for a hotel and sending emails with questions, to our arrival and stay, the staff and experience was excellent!! The hotel is very unique and the history of the building along with location were good starters. We typically like to coordinate and ask any questions prior to booking and response time was superb. All of their staff provided quick responses and helpful info and even went above, in my opinion, to share info when we were working on booking experiences and plans during our stay. The hotel is centrally located and provided a great location to walk around Catania and enjoy all it has to offer. It was even a great place for trips outside the city which we did to Siracusa/ Ortigia , Aci Trezza, Aci Castello, and Mt Etna. The room was clean and well kept and in the heart of it all. We had breakfast as part of our reservation and took advantage of that for only 2 of our days because sadly we didn’t remember we had paid for it, so assumed it was extra…. Only realized it when we went to settle the bill. A small error on our part to not ask, but didn’t impact our stay. In fact it allowed us to venture around and try some different spots for breakfast, which was enjoyable. That being said, they accommodated our early morning breakfast needs prior to hiking Mt Etna by placing items in our fridge the night before and also prior to our early flight home. It was absolutely appreciated and worked out very well. We also arranged transfer to the hotel from our prior stay in Taormina and to the airport upon departure with them and it was seamless. I would highly recommend the hotel and want to send my thanks to Alessandra, Davide, and Renato. Thank you for a wonderful stay and for the recommendations on wine. We ended up enjoying the sparkling wine post Mt Etna hike which was a great way to celebrate.

This is a unique hotel situated on the second floor of an 18th century nobleman’s house. The floors and high ceilings are original, with modern furniture and bathroom. It is just off the main square and only a block from the university square - a perfect location. The rooms are lovely and the staff wonderful. As there are only 7 rooms, the service is very personal. Very nice breakfast served in the room.|Highly recommended.

The place was quite nice, but the service was unbelievably good. Parking was extremely confusing in that area, but Davide was on top of it and guided us through everything as we were driving into Catania, and with his help were able to find a spot a block from the hotel. He then took our extremely cumbersome luggage up to our rooms while we grabbed an espresso to decompress. The evening manager, Renato (?), was just as well-informed and helpful, and left us know as we were looking at the wine selection that he was a sommelier if we had any questions. Honestly 4 Seasons-level folks working there; and we were not expecting that.

This was our first trip to Sicily, and our stay at Palazzo Marletta significantly enhanced our amazing four days in Catania. The location is ideal for walking tourists interested in exploring, shopping, and dining while using Catania as a home base. The hotel offers old-world beauty combined with modern comfort.||We also received amazing, tailored service delivered with an excellent authentic touch by Renato and Davide. They are truly amazing, and their passion is evident in every interaction. We greatly appreciated their thoughtful restaurant recommendations and attention to detail, which were awesome. The breakfasts were also excellent.||We stayed two days in an interior room and then seamlessly transitioned to a balcony room mid-stay. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Catania.

From the moment we arrived, it was clear that Palazzo Marletta operates on a level of service and class that is truly exceptional. The staff went above and beyond at every turn—whether it was anticipating our needs before we even had to ask, offering warm and genuine hospitality, or handling the smallest details with such care that it made our stay feel effortless. The hotel itself exudes elegance without being pretentious. Every space is meticulously maintained, beautifully designed, and infused with a quiet sophistication that makes you feel like you’re somewhere special. It’s rare to find a property that balances luxury with such heartfelt service, but Palazzo Marletta delivers both in abundance. Davide, Renato, Alessandra, Giovanna. Letitia and Mariangela are the dream team of hospitality! A stay here is more than just a place to sleep—it’s an experience you remember long after you’ve checked out. We left feeling valued, pampered, and grateful. Highly recommended to anyone seeking true class and hospitality.
