Palazzo Pepoli is a multimedia museum of Bologna’s history. Don’t expect rows of historical artifacts, instead you’ll find videos, audio, and digital installations that use technology to tell the city’s story. It’s a contemporary approach: less about physical objects, more about immersive storytelling.
The museum itself is in Italian, but an audio guide is available. Each room comes with short 1-3 minute commentaries. If you want to go deeper, Google Lens is useful to translate the written displays.
Be aware: if you’re used to classic history museums where you explore artifacts and form your own narrative, this will feel very different. Personally, as someone more old-school, I found it a bit unusual but it’s definitely engaging if you appreciate a modern, multimedia perspective on history.
