Palazzo Presta (Gallipoli, Puglia) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Those with a keen eye for geography will have noticed that there’s more than one Gallipoli on the Mediterranean — it’s derived from the Greek for “beautiful city,” which is a recurring sentiment in these parts. This one, in Puglia, is set on a small island connected to the mainland by a walkable bridge. And within a 17th-century house in the warren-like town center is Palazzo Presta, a surprisingly colorful and contemporary boutique hotel that’s packed with personality, thanks to its talented designers and the art and objects collected by its globetrotting proprietors." - Tablet Hotels

We recently stayed at the hotel for 4 nights in June. |From the check-in to the time we left, the hotel and its staff were a delight. |The furnishings around the hotel are wonderful , the rooms are unique, comfortable and welcoming. The bathrooms are large and have everything you might need. |There’s a rooftop bar which serves great cocktails ( we didn’t have the food )in a really nice setting . |The sister hotel Palazzo Flora has one of the most unique pools you are likely to come across . |We only had breakfast one morning but it was well prepared and very good value , the only problem being you will eat too much. ||What sets the hotel apart for me was the staff . From the professional check-in , to the maintenance crew, the staff who served the breakfast, Vincenzo the chef and finally the bar men, cocktail mixologists , every single one of them were friendly, personable, helpful, polite and good company . ||Special mention goes to Francesca , who is a joy . Nothing was too much trouble and , despite me changing our dates on a couple of occasions , more than happy to accommodate. ||I’d highly recommend this hotel .

They have three different venue. I booked the one with the sea view but close the street and parking lot. The overall service is very nice and respond promptly. But during the night you can hear the wind and also the car noise on the street. Breakfast is also good, the house and also the decoration are charming, which give the joy of the trip as well. Although the night could be noisy, but I enjoyed the relax two days here and can spent the lazy afternoon in the room with the ocean view, that was remarkable.

This place is seriously underrated! It’s located in the core of old town in a historic building, where streets are very narrow, so yes, expect some noise from the street (remember, italians are proud and loud!) but in return you are steps away from a great public beach, best restaurants and all this cute little town has to offer. We went to their sister property - palazzo flora to check out the pool, and it’s beautiful! Arguably their common spaces are more beautiful than palazzo presto! I see reviews where people complain about being moved to flora and I am not sure why it’s a bad thing. You are literally 1 min away from presto and have a beautiful pool at your disposal. Breakfast is ala carte and it makes a lot of sense because both properties are small, they serve everything fresh, so there is no waste. Menu limits number of dishes you can order, but in reality they are not strict about it and will make sure you are fed and happy. Food was great. We were a family of 3 and first we were in a suite on the roof (it was beautiful). They have a bar on the same roof where they play music until midnight (by the way, it’s popular and it was packed the night we checked it out). It’s not terribly loud but it became an issue for my child on the first night and they quickly moved us to a different suite, which was an upgrade. Overall the staff is beyond helpful, kind and accommodating, I can’t thank them enough for making our stay so special. Also, Gallipoli is such a great place to be. It’s clean, authentic, all restaurants we ate at were beyond our expectations, prices are reasonable. We parked at public lot where you can pay for 2 days and later extend. Hotel can arrange for a golf car pick up from the lot, we ended us walking with our luggage and it’s about 5-6 min. We planned to explore, but ended up staying in Gallipoli most of our trip. You will not be disappointed.

Very cool boutique hotel where boutique hotels don’t normally exist. Helpful and engaged staff, and you can notice they are really building their presence in Gallipoli. Private and beautiful decor and setting. Will come here again.

Beware this hotel. Like another review on here, we booked Palazzo Presta, but ended up being given a room in one of their other properties - Palazzo Columbo - which whilst decorated in the same style is not the same. It was a 5-7 min walk from the main hotel with no reception and entry via a code on the door. First the good stuff. it is in a great location in the old town of Gallipoli. The food which we ate in the main hotel, was deilcious, and some of the staff were attentive and good. ||Now for the not so good. Palazzo Presto is around 200-300 euros more expensive for a 3 night stay, than Palazzo Columbo, but when they moved us they didn't mention that. I had to fight with them for 2 days to get a refund of the difference. When I pointed it out to them, they offered me €100 before I eventually got them put to €270. there were no services at Palazzo Columbo and you had to walk to the main hotel for breakfast. It was not a pleasant experience, so I took my refund and left for another hotel.

We had a nice stay at this hotel in the lovely town of Gallipoli. The rooftop bar is very nice and the hotel is well located. For the price, I think it is a good value. We paid quite a bit more for similar hotels in other parts of Puglia. The rooms are a good size though they are starting to show a little wear and tear. The breakfast is fine, but not amazing. I would recommend the hotel.

On a recent trip to Puglia in June / July we were staying at a couple of stops and we had booked and paid for our last stay of 4 nights at the Palazzo Presta Hotel in the old city of Gallipoli.||On arrival at reception, and after a lot of chat with the receptionist which we initially thought was pleasant but turned out was to soften us up and ‘get us on side’ in my opinion, we were told that our room had a leak from a recent storm which had affected the electrics and so was not available. The hotel was fully booked so they offered us a room at the Palazzo Colombo, another building of theirs at a different location. We had no option but to be taken there and on arrival we were not impressed. It was like a glorified Airbnb with no reception and nowhere near as good as the Palazzo Presta with all its facilities, which we chose for a reason…it looked the best on the website, was well appointed and the rooftop bar and restaurants where located here. We would have to go to the Palazzo Presta every day for breakfast and any other meals as well as to use the very nice vibey roof terrace bar. They also offered us the use of a pool at their 3rd location Palazzo Flora, which was very nice and photogenic but again with no amenities and the pool area not fully finished & ready for use, in my opinion.||At no stage on arrival on the day or on any of the 2 days out of 4 that we stayed at Palazzo Colombo did they offer us a refund of the difference in the price of the two rooms. The original room being more expensive than the one we stayed in. A very dishonest way of doing business, hoping that we would forget about it. My wife and I had to ask for the refund which we felt we were entitled to since we were not getting what we had paid for. They offered us a couple of free drinks at the bar and dinner one night and the various staff that dealt with us treated us well, but we also wanted a refund of the difference in rooms. After a lot of back and forth we were given a refund and we announced that we would be leaving early for another location in Puglia that we managed to find. We felt we were not enjoying our stay at the Palazzo Colombo and preferred to go somewhere else.||We feel that the hotel was overbooked and that the story of water damage was concocted as an excuse. Why else would we not have been informed before we arrived in Gallipoli. Looking at other reviews for Palazzo Presta we found that this had happened before.||Palazzo Presta itself is very nice with its global traveller décor, the breakfasts & the dinner we had were delicious & the staff very nice & courteous on the whole. I can only imagine that had we stayed at the Palazzo Presta which is the main building we would have enjoyed the stay, except for the car park issues! I suspect that behind the scenes operationally, all is not well with the running of the hotel.||Beware!

This is an absolute gem of a hotel in the middle of Gallipoli. They have 2 PALAZZI and our group split between the 2 locations (2 minutes apart). They are both fantastic and super unique, stylist and perfectly located in the middle of the town and 2 minute walk from Gallipoli's best beach. One of the Palazzo also has a pool which is great. Although we had some issues at the beginning of our stay with one of the rooms having a broken AC, the staff was very accommodating and super helpful and managed to move us to a fantastic suite. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a boutique hotel experience in a historical palazzo setting. Side note: Breakfast was an issue on one of the days as the restaurant was very overwhelmed and we had to actually skip it and go to a local cafe and the staff at the rooftop bar was useless. But Davide, Anna and the rest of the front desk staff were fantastic.
