"National Gallery in beautifully restored palace Tucked deep in the heart of the ancient city, this is an easy Palazzo to miss—but don't miss it. My favorite of the Genovese museums, five floors of this massive palace are dedicated to the history and splendor of Genoa—the first three being the restored palace of the Spinola family, and the top two serving as the National Gallery. Explore beautiful frescoes, ceramics from the 1700s, actual clothing from the 15th century, and a massive original Rubens, among the many other varied treasures."

"Take the spiral staircase to the terrace The top two floors of the Palazzo Spinola were tragically destroyed by fire, thus destroying their historical treasures. Instead of just closing the space completely, the decision was made to renovate the floors into the National Gallery - and fill them to bursting with gorgeous pieces of Italian art/clothing/ceramics. When your tour is over, climb the small iron spiral staircase to the terrace and enjoy sweeping views of the old city straight from the heart of it!"

Palazzo Spinola feels like stepping into a living museum. This elegant noble residence showcases beautiful frescoed ceilings, antique furnishings, and a rich collection of artworks — all preserved in their original setting. Each room tells a story of Genoese aristocracy, and the quiet, intimate atmosphere makes the experience feel personal and authentic. A hidden gem for lovers of history, art, and timeless charm.

Very nice stuff. The palazzo is open for public below 25%. Would have been nice to see more of it but lovely what was shown.

As an art gallery it is far behind the ones in Florence or Milan. However, being a part of the palace makes it very suitable to the place. Exposition gives a very good understanding of the life of Ligurian king. And this watch is apparently predicting a future...

When I was there you had to join a guide tour, you where not allowed to stroll around on your own and you had to leave any bags in the cloakroom... Tours started at half past the hour, and my group was me and my guide. My guide did not say anything accept "please" a few times when she wanted me to walk in some specific direction... The full "tour" was about 25 minutes.

Impressive stone house with large halls and kitchen 🍲🫒🥖 where the art pieces are placed that is now National Gallery. The place, building completed in 1593, is in the list of 42 palaces which now form the UNESCO World Heritage Site, named for Francesco Grimaldi.

Would recommend a visit. It wasn’t too busy and had some interesting exhibitions. We paid €2 each for under 25 rate. Make sure you know how to get here precisely as the streets around this location seemed like the red light district of Genoa.

Such a beautiful museum. The frescos are well preserved, and quite unique if you look really hard at the details in some of the paintings. There are some interesting little quarks hidden in them.
