Everything about our four night stay was superb, except the cabin accommodation. Our cabin was dirty, and in need of a big makeover. The entire show is run by ‘backpackers’ from various different countries, and we found them to be very engaging, and at times it was obvious that they were run off their feet, presumably because of short staffing, but they were all friendly and looked after us. The location, views and ambiance is second to none. The meals, and we tried most on the menu, were delicious, although if like me you don’t like salt on your food, was a turn off at our first sitting, but rectified from then on by requesting that no salt on my meal. The dining, bar and pool areas were excellent if a little bit unkempt, and the whole resort was very peaceful and quiet due to no radios or televisions in the accommodation. The one big turnoff was our cabin, it was dirty and in need of some maintenance. One of our glass sliding doors to enter/exit the cabin was filthy and obviously hadn’t been cleaned in a long while, it also couldn’t be locked when leaving to go to the beach or pool etc, as one of the doors had come off the rails on one side. The main living space and bedroom were fine but the bathroom/toilet was very badly in need of a makeover. The shower door was rusty, the toilet seat loose, the entry/exit door had years of grubby hand marks (it had obviously never been cleaned in a long while) the tap on the sink was loose and some of the fittings were damaged. The whole experience for us was wonderful as we didn’t let the negatives spoil our stay, which was for my wife’s 65th birthday, but I think that before we would return, the accommodation would have to be updated. I would advise anyone, to book directly with the resort, as I would’ve got our stay for half the price had I done that and not through a booking agent 🤬 that was my fault 🤔

We stayed at Palm Bay recently and would like to provide our perspective. The good: The location, serenity, garden and pool were really well maintained. Staff were generally very helpful to accomodate our needs. The chefs were wonderful, the food we had were high quality. House keeping staff were fast and careful with their job Prices are generally reasonable by typical hotel and restuarant standards at the Whitsundays. The not so good: The rooms needs a major deep clean and maintenence. Many reviews compained about the moud and lack of cleanlines. We think its maintenance problem as many of cleanliness issues are related to the accumulation of dust, rust, mould over time. Facilities were also degraded since the new owners took over. The Tennis court is no longer in usable condition. Lack of a BBQ or a plentiful guest food shop, which the old owners provided, makes it difficult to recommend staying for more than 2 nights, as you will quickly run out of dishes you like to order from the restuarant. Overall we had high praises for the staff, however the conditions of the rooms we felt were not up to standard. We included photos primarily to raise attention for management to improve on room maintenance as that is the major down side we experienced in our stay. We hope the feedback on board as we see lots of potential that is currently leaving lots to be desired.

Firstly, Kade the bartender is the goat. Absolutely accommodating in every way. Cheers. The staff are fantastic, lovely and amazing. They go above and beyond to assist in every way. We stayed in the Hibiscus West suite. They view is stunning with a private balcony. There was a lot of water damage however, to most of the floor and ceilings. There is no TV or wifi if curious either. The bedroom was just that, a room With a bed in it, nothing flashy. The walk to the suite is a short hike up a very steep hill with no stairs. This needs some work imo. (Hard after a few drinks at the bar!) Overall this was an amazing stay with amazing hosts. Would very much recommend.

Spent 4 nights at Palm Bay Resort, absolutely superb!! Were greeted on arrival by Teigan and Mia which set the tone for the warm and attentive service throughout. The beachfront accommodation is lovely and spacious with fabulous views to sea. All the staff pull together and the vibe is relaxed. No wifi, reasonable mobile coverage. Superb food both at breakfast and main meals. Good choice, tasty and well presented. Way, way beyond expectations. Highly recommend. Thanks again Teigan and team. Simon and Lina

Palm Bay Resort was a great choice for myself and a couple of friends looking to escape the winter chill and spend time catching up. |The bungalows are well appointed and very comfortable with lovely views of the bay. The facilities are very good - including a beautiful pool, lovely swimming bay, beautiful tropical gardens, spacious restaurant area and a relaxing beachfront sunset bar. The resort is well designed and spaced so guests can relax and not feel crowded. |The staff at Palm Bay were great - young people from all over the world. They were unfailingly friendly and cheerful - nothing was too much trouble. A real asset to the resort, along with managers Teegan & Dylan. |A special shout out too to Vicki for the lovely massage.

We came to Palm Bay Resort expecting seclusion, tranquility, and a premium escape to “paradise" experience. Instead, we found the place seriously lacking in many fundamentals, where the setting largely carries the weight and everything else feels like an afterthought. What went seriously wrong: Promoted as a 4 1/2 Star resort property, and from Palm Bay Resort’s own website information, we expected immaculate rooms, top-tier amenities, and service to match. Instead, we encountered bungalows that were unclean and dusty, with broken tiles, poor lighting, and room services only available on every 4th day. We felt we had been promised beach front luxury, when in fact our experience was marred by neglect, where outdoor areas look worse for wear, with wasp nests on balconies, external fixtures falling short, along with the very unpleasant smell of sewage that wafted , you can use the snorkelling equipment and “stinger suits” at no charge, however these items are not cleaned or disinfected after use and simply placed back in the storage area by the user. There are also no laundry facilities, so be prepared to re-wear your sweaty clothes. The island has a lot of wildlife which is great, however the Cockatoos and a large Crow enter the restaurant regularly and walk all over the place matts, serviettes and cutlery, and although the staff try to "shoo” them away, the tables and chairs, etc are not cleaned afterwards. All staff are travelling “back packers” and that is fine, but a lack of training is apparent. Yes, Palm Bay Resort is remote by design, but remoteness is only charming if the essentials are well handled. Getting there is expensive and logistically complex, with a ferry/water taxi, sea plane or helicopter from Shute Harbour or private charter from Hamilton Island. Wi-Fi is non existent, phone reception is “sketchy", and there are no TV’s, which might suit some people, but for many it is a serious inconvenience. There are limited options for snacks or groceries, with a self serve room which has trinkets, chips and chocolate, etc available to purchase at elevated prices. Where does Palm Bay Resort excel? The natural beauty on this island is undeniable. The location is gorgeous, the views, the wildlife, the beach scapes and sea are all breathtaking; and the staff are generally friendly which helps soften some of the rougher edges; but when you pay a premium to get there and stay in what is supposed luxury, those rough edges stick out more than a budget location. Palm Bay Resort is a lesson in how a beautiful location is just not enough! If you want “paradise", yes, the setting here is close, but only if you can accept multiple compromises. You’re paying for potential, not polish. For people who care about cleanliness, consistent quality facilities, reliable service, and modern day conveniences, Palm Bay Resort fails to deliver. I would not recommend this resort if you expect luxury, even “rustic" luxury. If you are happy with “rough around the edges”, and are okay with paying premium prices for the views, you might muddle through. But for what it claims to be, Palm Bay Resort falls far short. A day trip to see the location is a far better option. In Summary: This accomodation product is not fit for purpose, the promises made were not delivered, and a full refund of the tariff should have been forthcoming. Footnote: My husband and I raised all of the above issues with the Palm Bay Resort staff and our booking agent “Luxury Escapes” on day 1. Unfortunately there was no available accomodation available at Hamilton Island or elsewhere, due to the “High Season”, and no immediate “escape" from the Island. If there was, we would have left Palm Bay Resort ASAP on day 1. Subsequent contacts with Palm Bay Resort, Luxury Escapes, and the ultimate owner, “Oscar’s Hotel Group” have failed to result in any refund. The “Oscar’s" representative did thank us for bringing these issues to their attention !

Review of Palm Bay Resort, Long Island, Whitsundays, Queensland, Australia.||We came to Palm Bay Resort expecting seclusion, tranquility, and a premium escape to “paradise" experience. Instead, we found the place seriously lacking in many fundamentals, where the setting largely carries the weight and everything else feels like an afterthought.||What went seriously wrong: Promoted as a 4 1/2 Star resort property, and from Palm Bay Resort’s own website information, we expected immaculate rooms, top-tier amenities, and service to match. The reality is different, the bungalows lack self catering, with the only choice being the Restaurant which had the same unchanging daily menu, so be prepared to eat the same food each day. Two 300ml bottles of water were placed in our room on day 1 (which were half empty), and any further bottles had to be purchased from the restaurant. The rooms have a fridge, kettle (but no coffee), and microwave if you bring your own food from the mainland. There is no hand sanitiser anywhere.||There is a Tennis Court at the rear of the Restaurant, but it is unusable due to surface mould, no net, and no functional equipment. In addition, you can use the snorkelling equipment and “stinger suits” at no charge, however these items are not cleaned or disinfected after use and simply placed back in the storage area by the user. There are also no laundry facilities, so be prepared to re-wear your sweaty clothes. The pillows are uncomfortable, and you have to ask for clean towels for your room, rather than being supplied daily.||The island has a lot of wildlife which is great, however the Cockatoos and a large Crow enter the restaurant regularly and walk all over the place matts, serviettes and cutlery, and although the staff try to "shoo” them away, the tables and chairs, etc are not cleaned afterwards. The “Sunset Bar” which is one of the “highlights”, has limited hours with a schedule that is unclear or inconsistent.||Yes, Palm Bay Resort is remote by design, but remoteness is only charming if the essentials are well handled. This resort is truly a gem! We were warmly welcomed upon arrival with a drink, and our room was ready immediately. There’s wonderful wildlife at the resort, the views are absolutely beautiful, and the restaurant is great. The staff were accommodating and lovely and the rooms were great with stunning views. I’d absolutely recommend this resort to anyone!

Yelp
Location: AMAZING, incredible hidden escape in the Great Barrier Reef. A perfect spot to escape from the real world. Lodging: Bungalows on the beach are what you dream of for your picture-perfect escape. Spacious rooms with a hammock on the front patio makes you relish every moment on Long Island. My only complaint is the cleanliness of the rooms, the linens were all stained and the room fixtures are all a bit aged. The only thing that's keeping this resort from becoming a 4 or 5 star resort is the poor attention to detail when maintaining the property.

Yelp
Love Palm Bay Resort....... Super relaxing so if your looking for a BIG resort with Lots of people and noise, then this is not the place for you. Cozy rooms right on the Beach, the bring your own food was not a problem, just plan ahead there is a small store and cafe that serves Pizza. Extra kudos to the Staff as they were lovely.....

Yelp
What a wonderful little resort. It is so refreshing to see a resort done so elegantly yet simply. We utilized one of the moorings for a couple of nights and felt very welcomed. When we are back in the area again, we will certainly book a few nights here. Well run, very friendly staff, beautiful facilities.
