Yelp
I lived here for around 7 months, and at first, it was a dream. I was paying 1450 (my wife and I) for a two bedroom condo on the water, and just ten minutes in either direction brought adventure: peanut island and clematis.
Sounds great right? Wrong. The issue is the physical building and some residents.
The Physical Building:
LEAKS: It was built in the 70s, so many pipes are copper. Owners aren't required to update their condo, so there's issues arising from the pipes left and right. The maintenance men quite literally had a large bucket to empty every day for 1-2 months full of water dripping from the pipes in my condo.
LEAKS PT2: There was a huge water break for hours in the night. This caused water damage to a majority of condos. The AC was out for hours/a day, and there was one elevator in service. We were given 6 large, industrial, and loud fans to blow onto the walls to dry it out. This was extremely loud and lasted a week. Along with the fans, we were given a huge dehumidifier to dry out the condo. This blew out 80+ degree air, making it even hotter on top of the blown out AC. Additionally, a section of wall was taken out that was never replaced when they had to suck out the wet drywall.
ELEVATORS: The elevators are old and break constantly. For more than a month, there were only two elevators for 30 floors (catching an elevator would take 10 mins). All four elevators working was RARE.
PARKING: There is only one space per unit, no matter how many bedrooms :/ So, I had to park on the street in a not so safe area, was uncomfortable walking to the building at night after work.
Along with other issues, the building was in bad shape.
THE RESIDENTS:
Basically, there's a HOA board that controls everything. It's a bunch of older folk, nothing wrong with that, but the rules they would come up with were ridiculous. I can't tell you how many times I was questioned what unit I live in, and judged. Not all of the residents, but the complex culture is uptight.
POSITIVE SHOUTOUT: The staff is amazing. They do the best they can with cranky residents and an old building.
