Yelp
This place has it all. Gorgeous clear blue water, a great breeze to keep you cool in the Australian summer sun and plenty of room for towels, etc. to lounge on and get some Sun. There are also some shady areas with benches and/or grass. The beach is very clean and peaceful -- although every once in a while you will hear someone squeal playfully from the water. There are some shops across the street from the beach if you want a snack or a drink. Also, it looks like there is plenty of parking (although I was here on a weekday). If you are looking for a rest room, they actually have a ladies room that has showers, a change area and toilets free of charge. They probably have the same shower and change area set up in the men's room. I hope you can come enjoy this beautiful beach sometime! Good day mate.

Yelp
We were staying in Sydney. Took a ferry to Manly and hopped on a bus for an hour 10 minute ride to Palm Beach. We had nothing but time so why not. The bus ride took us through many smaller towns and plenty of other beach opportunities if you wanted to make a day if it. We walked, waded and sunbathers for a few hours. Had a coffee and snack opposite the beach before the bus ride back. The beach is beautiful, quiet and felt very secluded from the hustle and bustle of most. The homes built into the hilltops around the cove are outstanding. There is also a bath for swimming at the far end. Bathrooms, showers available to public. Enjoy!

Yelp
This is a gem at the end of the L90. Takes a while to get here, but it's so worth it. Sand space is expansive, wind strength during the winter is super high, and it's a scenic place to be at overall. Even if it's the filming location of Home and Away, it's still very secluded, which is really nice. When I was there, there were only five other people on the beach watching the filming with me! It was nice. Also, I hear the hike up to Barrenjoey Lighthouse was worth it. This beach is host to that hike. I was strapped for time, so I couldn't hike up, but I'm going to come back and make the trek!

Yelp
My favourite beach in Sydney. Located at the end of the Pittwater peninsula and the last stop on the L90 from the city. It takes a while to get here but it's a world away from the city and a refuge to many a wealthy Sydneysider that call it home. I used to live not far from here and it can get quite busy over the weekend but still not so bad compared to other beaches in town. I have been here numerous times and brought many a visitor to this beach. It's laid back, quiet during the week and has an expansive stretch of sand you can walk along. You can also walk along to the lighthouse and make a day of it. Plenty of cafes and food spots in the area to enjoy a long lunch or dinner.

Yelp
Beautiful crescent-shaped beach with an ocean pool. Towering Norfolk pine trees for shade-spot parking. One of the so-many great Sydney beaches, but this one is more laid-back than most. The prominent and majestic Barrenjoey Peninsula looms to the north. Five stars. Locally known as "Palmie", Palm Beach is the backdrop for exterior filming of soap opera Home and Away, as the fictional town of Summer Bay. On a good day the waves here are nice and clean at this open beach. A bad day here is still better than a good day at work. Excellent clubhouse with change room and restroom facilities. 40 K north of Sydney. The bus ends here if you don't have a car. Go and enjoy.

Yelp
Palm Beach is the stunning tip of the Northern Beaches peninsula. It's about an hour and half north of central Sydney if you go by car and a similar amount of time on the L90 express bus from Central Station in the city. You can also get there by Seaplane but as this mode of transport manages to combine both flying and water, you're unlikely to read a review of a Seaplane business from this fearsome little blogger. The drive up to Palm Beach isn't exactly scenic but it does go through many beachside towns along the way and gives a flavour of another side to Sydney and its surrounds. Parking at Palm Beach is pay & display at $4.00 for the first hour and $2.40 for every hour there after. Housing the affluent weekenders from Sydney this place is like a step into another World. The views from the drive over from Whale Beach are gaspingly beautiful, as are the houses, if you like to sticky-beak and feel hard done by! The ocean side of the beach is used for filming location shots of Home and Away, though despite many years hanging around looking (in)conspicuous I am yet to be cast. The beach is long with fat, orange sand that sticks to everything. The beach is manned by Surf Life Savers during summer months. Given the steep incline and the power of the ocean the designated 'swimming' area can be pretty tiny and tends to be at the sheltered southern end of the beach near the ocean pool. On the upside though this is a great surf beach though not really for the inexperienced. There's a Lifesaving Kiosk with café about halfway along the beach though the bulk of the decent restaurants are located in town or on the Pittwater side of the spit. It's over here that you can charter boats and catch ferries to Ettalong and Patonga. There are some good climbing rocks to be had at the North end of the Spit near the beginning of the climb to the Lighthouse. A wonderful place to explore and one you won't want to leave.

Yelp
Great beaches all along Sydney's north suburbs. What's special about this one? It's scenic, like all the rest. But something is missing. COMMERCIALISM! I first saw Palm Beach 25 years ago, and what stood out was that there was no commercial streetfront. This is an awesome setting, but how can the world not have filled the fronting street with shops and restaurants. Now, 25 years later, it's still the same. From the beach you look inland and see beautiful homes and giant firs. Nothing commercial can be seen from the beach. Walk up to the street and there is a minuscule set of shops - one a surf shop, one a coffee shop and cafe, and one more of a small variety store. That's it. This is a place people live, not visit. If you're here to just do the beach, as we were, better be sure to bring everything you need. Because beyond a coffee, a bottle of soda, or an ice cream bar, you're out of luck. The ocean pool is nothing special, the surf is big enough for serious surfers, and the sand is fabulous. But what makes this beach outstanding is the residential setting.

Yelp
Awesome day with our kids and family. Recommend this beach lovely quiet location. Only negative my son was vomiting that night and I was not well. We bought calamari and chips from the local take away and my son and I were the only two who ate the calamari and felt sick/vomited.

Yelp
Palm Beach is known as a playground for Sydney's rich and famous set, and it's not hard to see why. Sydney's northernmost beach is also the set for the quintessentially Australian Home and Away, rendering it equally popular with overseas (mainly Northern European) visitors. "Palmie", as it's affectionately known has a great deal going for it - a beach with pretty nice surf, heaps of walks, a beautiful park, a ferry and a lighthouse. There's definitely enough amusement for a few days in this northernmost corner of Sydney. It's distance from, uh, everything, has its disadvantages - who wants to drive past at least four others to get to a beach? By the same token, the drive (and lack of quick public transport) puts off all but the most determined interlopers - there is no way you'll fall foul of the tourists that crowd Manly here. Come in your poshest designer gear, and enjoy living the lifestyles of the rich and the famous for a little while.

Yelp
Palm beach is just beautiful. For Brits it holds a special fascination as the location where Home and Away is filmed but it has much, much more than that to offer. Wonderful soft sand and the wide open bay mean one of the prettiest beaches in the area. Cut across to the inlet and you have a stunning view across the bay. One problem I found with it was the lack of cheap places to eat so if you are planning day there and you are on a budget plan on taking a picnic. Remember to take a camera and recreate your favorite Home and Away scenes..
