I’ve been visiting Palm House Boutique Hotel since it first opened, and it’s been incredible to witness its evolution into one of Cape Town’s most refined and welcoming destinations. From the moment you arrive, you’re met with warmth, professionalism, and genuine hospitality that’s become increasingly rare to find. The service is impeccable attentive, intuitive, and delivered with genuine care. The food is exceptional, showcasing local ingredients and thoughtful creativity that celebrates South African heritage with sophistication. The Afternoon Tea experience, however, truly steals the show, it surpasses anything else in Cape Town. Elegant, indulgent, and beautifully presented, it’s the perfect reflection of what makes Palm House so special, attention to detail, quality, and charm my partner still dreams of those macarons and the perfecr flavours balanced throughout each course. The spa is, without question, one of the best in the city, a tranquil sanctuary offering world-class treatments and service and the jacuzzi and sauna are such a bliss. And finally, the General Manager deserves immense praise. The progression and transformation of this property since my first visit are remarkable, a testament to strong leadership and vision and attention to detail. It is a true hidden gem, where service, food, and hospitality come together in perfect harmony and i will keep coming back for more.

I spent 2 nights here on a business trip and enjoyed the personalised service from the team. Comfortable room next to the pool, with separate seating/dining area. Fast WiFi. Very nice large pool and beautiful grounds/garden. Breakfast was very good, so was the all day dining menu. In general the hotel is calm and quiet. However..... The only downside was some guests deciding to go for a swim at 1 AM and having a bit of a pool party, which woke me up rather rudely in the middle of the night.

We are annual visitors to Cape Town. We have eaten multiple times at La Colombe to Fyn, Salsify and more. ||Last night was our first evening on this visit. We had the most exquisite, beautifully described and mind shattering meal in De Tafel. This is a food and wine lovers heaven.||The surroundings and decor, the menu design and quality of service expressed everything we could have wished for.||Whilst we are not vegans our curiosity took the best of us and we had to go with the plant based journey tasting menu and wine pairing. There was too much information for us to remember about each wine but the information and wisdom was all welcome. Our tastes were challenged and I had to dig down deep to connect with the soil. Yes that is how it made me feel ! Chef Greg Henderson is a genius! This restaurant is for people who love and appreciate the thought and the highest levels of culinary skills. ||Thank you to the entire team at De Tafel for your imagination, passion and commitment

What a place to finish our Garden Route trip!! Situated in a nice suburb of Cape Town, Palm House is an "oasis of calm', charm and attention to detail. Owner Max clearly has a great vision. A short taxi ride from the V & A Waterfront in Cape Town, but much better, in our opinion, than staying in the busier city areas. We had cooked to order breakfasts and ate in both restaurants; the food was outstanding. The tasting menu in de Tafel was spectacular; if Michelin covered South Africa, this restaurant and chef Greg Henderson would have a star! It was tough to leave to come back to the UK. Special thanks to sommelier Richard and restaurant staff Charles, Emmanuel and Dane for looking after us so well.

This review is about the restaurant De Tafel. We went here for a 5 course dinner and it was amazing. From the moment we arrived they took great care of us. The food looked like art and tasted amazing. We had an amazing bottle of wine and the staff was outstanding. The price/quality is insane, would definitely recommend!

The “wellness oasis” is hardly an oasis. The first time we came the jacuzzi that was part of the package we’d been gifted was not functioning. So we sat shivering in our wet costumes after the sauna outside in the cold air trying to enjoy our bubbles. We were then offered a “complimentary” hour’s visit. This time my husband was given a towel that smelled of vomit and we were interrupted after 10 minutes in the jacuzzi to be hassled for payment as the ladies were going into their next treatment booking. Surely there should be somebody manning the front desk to receive payment once people finish their treatments? Both times there was no sign of anyone at the front desk to bid their customers farewell. A simple touch that I would expect at a 5 star hotel spa. The massages were great but the wellness oasis is a tiny space right next to a busy road listening to the sounds of traffic. The double story houses next door feel like they can see into the space that should be private except for an umbrella that covers a small part of the area. When giving feedback, the general manager was extremely vague in her e-mails which led me to spend more money at this spa that I was not planning on spending. She was rude when dealing with us in person and ill equipped to deal with customer feedback or satisfaction. We will not be going back.

We were blown away by the service and elegance of the Palm House Boutique Hotel in Wynberg. Of particular note was the five-course tasting menu at De Tafel restaurant. It was the best food I have ever eaten in South Africa, and I say this as a chef. The service at the hotel was also exceptional -- everybody went out of their way to help us as much as they could. The only disappointment for us was the garden suite in which we stayed. The suite is badly designed and as a result is very confined and tricky to navigate. Regardless, I highly recommend this boutique hotel!

Dining at De Tafel honestly blew my mind. I’ve been lucky enough to eat at some of South Africa’s top restaurants, Salsify, Fyn, Salon but this place is on another level entirely. Every dish feels personal, like a story about the Cape and its ingredients, told through incredible flavour, texture, and detail. There’s something raw and authentic about it, not trying too hard, just pure creativity and confidence in every bite. It’s the kind of dining experience that reminds you why you fell in love with food in the first place. I truly hope De Tafel gets the recognition it deserves , it’s world-class and worth a visit to experience its that special.
