Palm House - Boutique Hotel and Spa

If I could click 6 star I would. Living in Southern Suburbs for years, I had no idea we had such a special hidden gem on my doorstep. An advert came up about Steak night and after looking at the website, I was excited to try all the experiences. I was completely blow away by the classy atmosphere, excellent staff and beautifully presented and delicious food. I have since visited in the last few months for Steak Night, 2x massages, the Sunday roast. Being in the luxury villa industry , I now recommended to all my holiday guests . My husband said it was the best massage he's had and there is a lovely outdoor area with Jacuzzi and Sauna. It is not your average spa. The staff exclude a hotel level experience. The Sunday lunch was so much food we couldn't believe our eyes. All perfectly presented that im sure they will get some awards. This gem is sure to be my favorite spot. I highly recommend to everyone.

This was my first stay at the Palm House Boutique, although I’ve previously dined at their exceptional De Tafel Restaurant. The hotel is truly wonderful, offering impeccable service and a keen attention to detail. I love the heritage charm of the property, and the breakfast was definitely five-star, if not more. I also had the pleasure of experiencing the Tasting Menu by Chef Gregory—what an incredible experience! The quality, flavor, and presentation of the food were outstanding, and the wine pairings were perfectly chosen to complement each dish. I highly recommend this charming boutique hotel and can’t wait to return. Thanks to Hze, Chef Gregory and the helpful staff!

I am very disappointed in how this matter was handled. I came to the hotel for spa treatments and invited a close friend, Ayesha Kazim (recent review) to join me. While the communication leading up to our visit was not great, upon arrival it seemed the staff were willing to accommodate the services we had already paid for. I was scheduled for both a massage and a facial, while my friend had a massage scheduled to begin about 45 minutes later. This was fine, as she planned to go to the restaurant in the meantime. Unfortunately, she had an unpleasant experience waiting 10–15 minutes only to be told the restaurant was closed. She then asked if she could order Uber Eats and was told yes. After placing an order and waiting about 20 minutes, she was informed that she could not eat on site. It is strange that a guest would not be allowed to eat on hotel property but what is completely unacceptable is that this was not communicated beforehand. As a result, my friend ordered food that was delivered but never received, leaving her hungry and frustrated. After our massages, I noticed her mood and energy had shifted. When she explained what happened, we asked to speak with a manager. The guest experience manager apologized and stated he would look into the situation, acknowledging that he was unsure why we had been misinformed. He then mentioned that snacks were available, which was the first time we heard of this. Snacks were never offered or presented to my friend. While mistakes happen, responding afterward with misinformation is unacceptable. Please take accountability. Your staff did not offer available options, communicated poorly, and provided no solution or compensation for her wasted time, hunger, or the inconvenience caused. This experience has overshadowed my own visit due to how poorly it was handled. Do better.

Lovely hotel set in beautiful gardens with a good sized pool. All staff were very good but special mention to Emmanuel and Richard who were excellent. Our only disappointment was that our room was right next to reception and despite soundproofing noise still travels. We thoroughly enjoyed the picnic on the lawn, afternoon tea (which was very different from the UK) and the Friday night steak club. We would recommend all of these activities. You wouldn’t really walk anywhere from this location but Uber will find you easily. We did not have dinner in the more formal restaurant as we considered the menu to be too fancy for our liking. We booked daily use of the spa but we had to raise this with reception staff who did not know it was included in our booking or even what that meant. Apparently this is one hour private use of the Wellness Oasis (jacuzzi and sauna) each day but it needs to be booked in advance. All in all we would definitely recommend a few nights stay as part of your Cape Town experience.

I’ve been visiting Palm House Boutique Hotel since it first opened, and it’s been incredible to witness its evolution into one of Cape Town’s most refined and welcoming destinations. From the moment you arrive, you’re met with warmth, professionalism, and genuine hospitality that’s become increasingly rare to find. The service is impeccable attentive, intuitive, and delivered with genuine care. The food is exceptional, showcasing local ingredients and thoughtful creativity that celebrates South African heritage with sophistication. The Afternoon Tea experience, however, truly steals the show, it surpasses anything else in Cape Town. Elegant, indulgent, and beautifully presented, it’s the perfect reflection of what makes Palm House so special, attention to detail, quality, and charm my partner still dreams of those macarons and the perfecr flavours balanced throughout each course. The spa is, without question, one of the best in the city, a tranquil sanctuary offering world-class treatments and service and the jacuzzi and sauna are such a bliss. And finally, the General Manager deserves immense praise. The progression and transformation of this property since my first visit are remarkable, a testament to strong leadership and vision and attention to detail. It is a true hidden gem, where service, food, and hospitality come together in perfect harmony and i will keep coming back for more.

My husband & I had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful hotel for three nights in October. It was one of our favourite places and we couldn't fault it. |From the moment we arrived until the time of our departure, every member of staff we encountered went out of their way to ensure we had a wonderful stay. |Our room was called Pinotage, not one of the largest rooms, but it was beautifully appointed, immaculate and very comfortable. |We dined in the Palm Terrace restaurant on two evenings and found the food to be of a very high standard and very reasonably priced. When we initially booked our stay at the hotel we had also booked our meals and this included the hotels Tuesday curry night...unbeknownst to us, between booking and our arrival, the seasonal menu had changed and the curry night was no longer on the menu. Realising we had been looking forward to the curry night during our conversations with him, Maitre d, Dane, along with the Executive Chef, arranged to reinstate this delicious curry menu just for us. We were made to feel very valued and it was a fantastic meal and a lovely gesture.|We very much enjoyed drinking cocktails and G&T's in the small but perfect bar and loved the ambience of the hotel and it's beautiful surroundings.|We found all the staff extremely polite, helpful and enjoyed chatting with them, especially Dane, Tabiso, Richard, Chelsea, Dean and Quinton...plus the security guards and reception staff, everyone was lovely.|Palm House Boutique Hotel was our first experience of Cape Town and it was certainly one we will never forget and we would not hesitate to stay there again. I sent a message via whats app to the Palm Terrace restaurant enquiring about dining there.. They sent me their menus and I booked a table for 3 for Jan 2nd 2026. What a disappointment! Location- easily accessible, very plain décor, garden seating on pool furniture No table setting, no table cloth, rather underwhelming for a 5 star restaurant It was a steak night evening, yet no proper steak knives provided. Garden setting- again, rather underwhelming It just was not a good start. Along comes the wine waiter and offers us wine- no wine menu presented , just the question form the waiter- would you like some wine? We ordered as per the menu sent to us on whats app- then the absolute shock came with the astronomical price of less than 175ml of wine- R145 per glass!! yes you are reading correctly - R145 per glass of wine!!! Corkage- an extravagant R150 per bottle!! Price- we were sent menus with prices when we booked, however our bill was approximately 25-33% MORE than the prices on the sent menus! The Excuse by the manager- we were sent the 2025 prices 10 days earlier and we dined on the 2 Jan 2026 when a price increase- way above the national 3% inflation target- came into effect for 2026??? We were not informed about this??? Staff- there is a need for training- firstly to the wine waiter- present your clients with a wine menu before choosing wines for them at these exorbitant prices Overall- We will definitely not visit this overpriced restaurant again- most certainly not 5 star value! Most disappointed and I do feel ripped off! PS Reply from the manager Ilze Henderson, she is willing to give me a 10% discount if I visit again. No thanks, keep your overpriced restaurant to yourself Ma`am!

We are annual visitors to Cape Town. We have eaten multiple times at La Colombe to Fyn, Salsify and more. ||Last night was our first evening on this visit. We had the most exquisite, beautifully described and mind shattering meal in De Tafel. This is a food and wine lovers heaven.||The surroundings and decor, the menu design and quality of service expressed everything we could have wished for.||Whilst we are not vegans our curiosity took the best of us and we had to go with the plant based journey tasting menu and wine pairing.There was too much information for us to remember about each wine but the information and wisdom was all welcome. Our tastes were challenged and I had to dig down deep to connect with the soil. Yes that is how it made me feel ! Chef Greg Henderson is a genius! This restaurant is for people who love and appreciate the thought and the highest levels of culinary skills. ||Thank you to the entire team at De Tafel for your imagination, passion and commitment
