Palmar Beach Resort & Spa Riviera Maya

We came here for our Anniversary and our son's Birthday! We have been delighted with the staff! We were always greeted with smiles! They are professional and created a wonderful experience for us! A special shout out to Fredy, Mauricio, Janet, and Sergio they are very caring and engaging! When at the pool our drinks were amazing! And what really was wonderful is they brought a chocolate cake up to our Suite and then at dinner they also gave him cake! Our room was so clean and comfortable! And the gentleman at the gift shop was great as well! The food was delicious, however for kids they don't offer a kids menu all of the time, so our kiddo was disappointed. That literally is the only thing I'd change! Thank you for making a worry free va

The resort has potential to be a 4.5-5 star resort. Unfortunately it is not at the time of our stay. First the name is not Palmer Beach Resort & Spa. It is named (Iberostar Selection Riviera Cancun) when we were trying to get here, we stopped at another resort same name just slightly different wording 30+mins away. Not very many food options, what was available was ok I’d give it a 6 out 10. Anything with shrimp or beef/steak was very good. If you miss dinner and want a late night snack (after 11) hot dogs, microwaved pizza, quesadillas and burgers. The burger was good but that’s it. While we were there a good 50-60% of the resort smelt of fresh paint. We stayed 4 days, we smelled paint at some point during the day. There was constant construction the whole time. If you do choose to stay here wear mosquito repellent and be sure and download the resorts app. The pools are nice clean. Drinks are good but was never offered a blended drink of any kind. Very simple drinks. The staff was good friendly. Management really needs to give staff better tools to better help its guests. We got a sheet in our room with a schedule of different restaurants most of the staff had no idea what we were talking about. The gym was very nice new very clean equipment. The spa also very good highly recommend.

Hotel is nice and quiet. Ibero are making their stamp when taking over the resort. Staff were impeccable. Entertainment staff in particular. Luis and Jorge for the activities. My bar guys. Mauricio, Sergio, Roberto. All of them. Amazing. I'll be back soon

Stayed 4 nights at end of a busy but fun 2 week trip across Mexico - so needed some relaxation / luxury. Had read the mixed reviews so was a little nervous of what we’d experience. Overall a solid 4 star resort. The pros - the STAFF are amazing. Bellhops, Concierge, Front of house, restaurant staff, cleaners, pool staff - magnificent. The FOOD was beautifully made and well presented. The POOL BAR staff were attentive & generous. The cons - our ROOM had no hot water for half our stay. We had a leak that used all our towels to stop it from cascading through the room. The ceiling plaster / paint was falling off, so clearly the leak wasn’t new. The LOCATION meant a long taxi ride (and fare) to Playa or Cancun if you wanted to venture out. The resort was undergoing renovations and running at low occupancy - so there was some noise but more importantly, it meant that, while the food was a highlight, there were limited restaurants to choose from. We paid US$750 per night so it was a lot to pay given the cons. The STAFF saved this from being a poor experience - so our thanks to them!

I rated this hotel under its current name selection,I know the Walmart and selection is one in the same. Its a real nice stay with good foo good drinks and good service. Only issue was construction that we were not aware of. They said it was a soft opening,I/ we did not know it meant construction. But I still give them a 4 plus so when done,more than likely a 5 star.

Our stay was absolutely amazing! We were pleasantly surprised to find a private jacuzzi in our room—it made the experience even more special. Every restaurant we tried served delicious food, and we especially loved spending time by the pool. What truly made our stay unforgettable were the incredible staff—always welcoming, friendly, and providing top-notch service with a smile. This resort is perfect for anyone looking for peace, privacy, and relaxation. Highly recommended for its tranquil ambiance and excellent hospitality! Heads up to Rolando, Gustavo, Angellus and Mateo You all rock!!!

We loved the food, every restaurant had something unique and with lots of fresh seafood options. The desserts are all very creative and tasty. Morning and lunch buffet has wide selections, we loved how much fruits and veggies there were (no fresh passion fruit though, maybe due to season). The staff are great especially if you tip a few bucks at each meal. They serve top shelf Mexican liquor. All the facilities are well kept and very clean. It’s not very crowded which I liked, with a good mix of families and non families. There were seaweeds along the beach when we went, couldn’t enjoy the sand, though overall we really liked our stay.

This resort was very good. The meals were expertly prepared with love and care. The first 2 days they had their buffet open for dinner, lunch, breakfast, and had any type of protein you can imagine to be cooked fresh by a very friendly cook. The selection included lobster tails, steak, tuna, Salmon. After that due to the resort occupancy, they would have only one restaurant and sometimes too open per night. The service at the restaurant was prompt and The hotel staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was memorable. Let me make this clear this resort is not for everyone. If you enjoy variety when dining perhaps you should consider going during their busy season so you have more dining choices. This resort offers on site day care the hours are 0900x 1300 and 1400x 1600 ages 4 and up. My daughter was always eager to go and “play” also they have water sprinklers and a kiddie pool which makes it ideal for families. Another thing to consider is that the beach is not useable during the sargassum (seaweed) season. March to November I think. We had to go to Isla de Mujeres to use the beach. Another issue is that the resort since joining Iberostar has ongoing construction on all buildings. As they are building for staircase access. There is one and more significant drawback the primary pool is close for renovation until possibly January 2026. Anabel, David, house keeping and Gustavo from the restaurant were awesome. We had an issue with the AC the second day and it was quickly addressed. However, we had a persistent hot water issue where the hot water doesn’t quite make it to the 3rd floor. Not a problem for me since I only take cold showers. Overall, would recommend this hotel when construction is over and there is no sargassum the smell doesn’t make it enjoyable. I would consider going back perhaps as weekend trip. Oh also the road to get in is pretty rough cars so drive slow as the road is built on a swam with rocks and sand. I picked this resort because the property is decent size where you can walk and move around the resort in a matter of minutes from pool to restaurants and concierge. No wristbands required which I love. Additionally, the only way to book this resort is under Iberostar selection Riviera Cancun. The link on google takes you to a different resort probably much better one I believe villa palmar
