Palmares Beach House Hotel

We only booked for a short one-night stay. The hotel only has 20 rooms and is almost what you might call a boutique hotel. In our opinion, the rooms and hotel/decor don't really achieve the feeling of 5* standard that the hotel is listed as. although there was very little wrong and the place was very comfortable. The hooks in the bathroom would spin and hadn't been isntalled properly. Otherwise the room was quite simple and perhaps plain? Outside of the room, the lobby is quite small and the restaurant/bar also simple. The pool outside was nice but not heated. The view however from the balcony of the rooms and from the bar/restaurant is amazing. Overall, it felt like a 4* hotel really, with the view redeeming it. Service however seemed fantastic. On arrival we were greeted and then helped to our rooms by one of the staff. He also explained a few things for us and was there to answer any questions. There were some local sweets left for us and complimentary water which was nice. There is 24hr room service. I'm sure the staff would be very accommodating but we didn't use their service during our stay. Overall we would stay again and the price was good and fair for the experience we had.

We had a lovely time, staff lovely. The views were excellent, breakfast was absolutely lovely - plenty of choice. Only criticism was bathroom due a bit of TLC and quite a bit of development around, but once in the hotel - excellent.

We absolutely loved this hotel. It was very well appointed and extremely quiet. The breakfast and dinners were excellent, with super staff and service. The reception staff were always super helpful and charming - nothing was too much trouble. We played golf on the adjoining course every morning and spent our quiet afternoons by the pool - just idyllic. It couldn’t have been more perfect and I feel sure we will be back for another visit and more golf here!

My Husband and I stayed here for 4 nights just two weeks ago and I have to say that is a lovely quiet place with large rooms and large balconies facing the ocean. But I must say that the resort and rooms need some freshening up, walls need fresh paint and floors/ decking need a redo. Everything was just tiered looking. The staff was very welcoming and helpful with one exception, when I asked how we access the beach I was told to just take the path to the right of the building and it just a 10 minute walk. That was not the case,we walked about a mile down to the train tracks in front of the beach but there was no access. When we hiked back up the hill and talked to a different staff member we were told that we could get there by car. So my point is that there is no easy beach access from the resort. |I thought the food at the restaurant was just average.

We stayed at the Palmares for three nights and wish we could have stayed longer. From start to finish, our stay was really great. The room was spacious, clean, and quiet. The breakfast, which some have complained about, was delicious. There was an abundance of food and drinks, including Prosecco available. We found all of the staff to be helpful and friendly. The turndown service each evening was a pleasant surprise. As others have mentioned, the pool chairs were not very comfortable, nor were there enough of them (including umbrellas). The pool was busy one afternoon and we were unable to go, so we laid out on our balcony, which was fine. The hotel does not have a shuttle that can take you into Lagos, so you either need to call for a car (cheap) or drive on your own (we always found parking on the weekend). We'd gladly return to the Palmares.

We stayed at the hotel as a family of five, in two rooms. The hotel could have been amazing, but it was very disappointing. The service and reception were without a smile, and the staff seemed to be unmanaged. There was no soul or joy. They didn’t show any interest in us, never asked if we needed anything during our stay, and never made any effort to get to know us. This created a sense of alienation and made it hard to enjoy what the hotel had to offer. The sea is very far from the hotel. The beach is very basic, with nothing special—just a regular public beach. There’s no service at the pool, and the wooden deck is poorly maintained; we even got stuck on some protruding wooden planks. There’s no lifeguard, and you can’t order drinks or food by the pool. In conclusion, the hotel lacks character and soul, with no pleasant atmosphere at all. We won’t return and wouldn’t recommend it.

Our stay was perfect. Friendly staff, nice views. Great golf. Now it has quite a bit of construction around, that may in the future be somehow disruptive? A brand new Marriott autograph resort is scheduled to open in a few years. This would not deter us to consider coming back..

This is definitely a great place to stay if you like your privacy. The vibe is low key and easy, the rooms are very nice and the food is delicious. Highly recommend.
