We took two tours! The Haunted Ghost Tour with Big Mike was extremely informative! He was a great story teller and knowledgeable! He made it fun!! The Residential Tour/daytime tour was done by lottery system. We were sent through the French Quarter to the larger home section in Charleston. Marley was a great horse. Unfortunately, I can’t remember the guides name. He was from Hershey, PA. He was very knowledgeable and informative!

This was our favorite part of our visit to Charleston! Such a fun experience and fun way to learn the history of the city! I can’t remember our tour guides name, but he was 10/10! He is the horse trainer as well! I loved how he started the tour talking about our horse and how well they are taken care of!

Had an awesome time on the haunted night tour with Big Mike and his horse Teddy! Mike was a great storyteller—funny, spooky, and full of cool history about Charleston. Teddy was calm and impressive, and riding through the city at night made it all feel extra magical. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a fun and eerie experience!

Our ride with Palmetto Carriage Works was hands-down one of the highlights of our Charleston trip! The blend of history, beautiful sights, and unforgettable personalities (both human and horse!) made it a five-star experience. We had the biggest horse in the barn—he only works with one handler—and he had just as much sass as our two 9-year-old girls, which made the whole ride even more entertaining. Our guide was fantastic: funny, knowledgeable, and incredibly patient with our very curious crew. One of the girls dreams of becoming a vet and was full of questions about the horses—their care, training, personalities, you name it. Our guide didn’t miss a beat. He answered every single question with genuine enthusiasm, and even let her take the reins for a moment, which absolutely made her day. After the tour, he took extra time to give us awesome local recommendations on where to eat and what to explore next—such a bonus! The only thing I wish they’d change is the random route assignment. It’d be great if each carriage had a specific section so repeat visitors could be sure to see a new area. That said, we’d do it again in a heartbeat. It was a magical, memorable, and meaningful experience for our whole group. 🐴💛

This is only the second time I visited Charleston, SC. This time with my children and grandchildren. From my short 2 day honeymoon my memories of Charleston are not clouded. Charleston is one of the loveliest southernmost cities that I feel most sentimental towards all these 25 years later. We took a carriage ride reminiscent of my first carriage ride. This ride was animated enthusiastically by Fox and lugged willingly along by Clint! Fox had a way of connecting the past to the present day to make the young and old alike connect to the beautiful city like a glass of ice tea goes along perfectly with a front porch swing. Fox made us laugh and yet sentimentally connected to my past trip I felt it was a beautiful history lesson along the way. Fox connected our “South Of Broad” trip so knowledgeable with dates and details in history. It made me want to stay longer and have my own glass of tea on a wrap around Charleston porch! When I held the grandson to pat Clint goodbye I felt my eyes grow hot with tears… one day is too short to enjoy Charleston!!! Thank you to a Red Barn I remember from 25 years ago, the sweet, gentle, disciplined spirit of Clint, and the engaging talent of Fox that helped us enjoy the city the way we did! It really couldn’t have been better!

Had such a great experience on the nighttime ghost tour! Our guide, Big Mike and horse Boeing, were absolutely wonderful! The staff is super friendly and the horses are very well taken care of. We appreciate your wonderful hospitality and will be back if we are ever in Charleston. Shout out to Mal as well! Thank you, friends!

Very informative, beautiful ride....... it was a phenomenal time. We felt completely safe the entire ride on the carriage and Fox, with his buddy Clint, were great ....... it was very apparent that they treat their horses well.

It was ok. This was one of the most expensive things we did in the Charleston/Folly Beach area, and it was one of the least favorite. The fact that you don't get to choose your route is a BIG bummer(I know that this is a city decision, but a bummer none-the-less). We booked a private carriage for 6, and it was a carriage that you sit facing inward, so that was not ideal either, and made looking around difficult for those who are less nimble. The horse was extremely slow, so we only ended up going a few blocks(much less than most other tours, even by the same company). The tour guide was ok. He was a very nice guy, he just kept losing his train of thought, and sometimes didnt finish his story. We all have bad days... It has taken me a while to write this review, as we were there in May of 2024. This was a last trip wish for our youngest daughter before starting her second round of radiation for DMG cancer. Fort Sumter, The Sugar Bakeshop, Magnolia Cemetery, Rainbow Row, and Folly Beach were among her favorite things. She went home to be with the Lord in Nov 2024 at the age of 17 after an 18 month battle with DMG. #werallyforallie
