Montenegro and the Palmon Bay Hotel felt undiscovered, under advertised, and definitely under appreciated!||The whole experience was far more than expected for the following reasons:||1) The private beach that is attached to Palmon Hotel is incredible, the view when you’re on the sun lounger is spectacular, and with the sea being so clear it was unexpectedly one of the best beach spots Iv ever been on. If you’re looking for some peace and quiet definitely look for a good spot on the beach, as the 1 pool on offer was often used by families.||2) The Roof Top bar is also a massive highlight as it provides views over the bay, a spectacle particularly at night when the bay is lit up and live music is playing (see attached image). We often finished the night there with a final drink and a game of UNO before bed!||3) Another big highlight is the extremely long strip of restaurants and bars just outside of the hotel. The food was of great quality, with a variety of family friendly and romantic settings overlooking the lit up bay. The food was very cheap, my favourite being the shared Mixed Meat Grill for €19 at llijada Restaurant (our favourite restaurant).||4) The hotel itself was extremely clean, the staff were attentive but also left you alone to explore the site (which we liked). Breakfast was also a great experience, with plenty of variety (hot and cold) and although it was busy, it didn’t affect the chilled out atmosphere.||5) We booked the Side Sea View room as an upgrade on the initial booking, which had a balcony overlooking the sea and beautiful hills- well worth it! (Image attached).||The very few improvement points (if we’re being very harsh)||1) The hotel is not an Adults Only, meaning you did have quite a lot of (to be fair very well behaved) children. This didn’t affect our stay, but would have been a preference to have access to the pool also.||2) The room was a little bit small and we didn’t have anywhere to store our cases so they were a bit in the way. This wasn’t too much of an issue for us and we could look past it, but could imagine it may not be ideal for others. ||3) You generally have to cross the border from the Dubrovnik airport (if travelling via BA), so expect this delay on your transfer. The transfer was a 1 hour journey to the hotel, and 35 mins back to the airport (so not too bad considering). This of course wasn’t anything to do with the hotel however, so is not a criticism of them!||Advice for this holiday & hotel:||1) YOU MUST do the boat tour to Kotor Bay that the hotel provides. This was only €50 each for a 6 hour excursion. You get to see different towns around the bay, with time allocated to walk around 3 different locations. The highlight was the Old Town of Kotor, with lots of small streets to explore, a vast amount of history and plenty of restaurants (similar to Rhodes Old Town).||2) Transfers can be booked via the hotel, which was €105 each way, £150 cheaper than the British Airways option.||3) Definitely buy your own waters, drinks and snacks throughout the day from the local market (a 1 minute walk away from your sun lounger).||4) If you can buy some Whiskas cat food from the same local market, as there’s a few homeless cats and their babies that need feeding! 🐱
